Objective To promote teaching qualities of pediatrics,problem-based learning (PBL)and lecture-based learnin(gLBL)were contrasted,and effects of the new teaching method were evaluated.Methods 58 medical students of English class Grade 2004 were chosen and divided into two groups,namely,PBL group,LBL group,each taught through the corresponding method in the chapter Rickets of Vitamin D Deficiency.At the end of the course,an objective exam was taken and the scores,checkout rate and excellent rate were used to assess the teaching quality.Results The scores and checkout rate of case analysis of the students in the PBL group are higher than that in the LBL group.Conclusion The approach of PBL can elevate the students'clinical thinking capability.

Objective To evaluate the risk of plague occurrence via surveying and analyzing indoor rat density and flea index in natural villages having previous plague experience. Methods During August to September 2007, 30 natural villages experiencing previous plague were selected based on the surveillance data, and then all households were coded with numbers and 20 households in each village were randomly selected via computer. Cages and sticky papers were set in 600 selected households to capture rats and fleas. Rat density, flea prevalence, flea index and median were estimated. Results One hundred thirty-three Rattus flavipectus and 33 Suncus murinus were caught and averaged rat density was 2.8 rats per one hundred cage. nights (166/6000), the median was 5 rats each village. One hundred and one mice infected fleas, flea prevalence on rats was 60.8% (101/166), 296 Xenopsylla cheopis and 48 Leptopsylla segnis were collected. Rat flea index was 2.1 fleas per rat (344/166). A total of 315 dissociated flea was caught, average dissociated flea index was 0.026 fleas per sticky paper (315/11888). The median was 5.5 dissociated fleas per village. Of dissociated fleas, Ctenocephalides felis felis (205) and Xenopsylla cheopis (103) accounted for 97.8% (308/315). The proportion for species of the rat flea and the dissociated flea was different(Fisher test: P < 0.01). The rat flea was significantly associated with the rat density(r = 0.68, P < 0.01), but the dissociated flea was significantly associated with neither the rat density(r = -yield than fried wheat batter(χ2 = 5.59, P < 0.05). Conclusions In these villages having previous plague experience of Lianghe County, Rattusflavipectus was dominant species of indoor rats, Xenopsylla cheopis and Ctenocephalides felis felis were dominant species of rat flea and dissociated flea, respectively. Mengsong, Bangdu, and Tangjiatun village had potential risk of plague emergence.

Objective To investigate the xenotransplantation model of fetal pig skin precursor tissue and its development after transplantaion. Methods Porcine skin precursor tissue was obtained from the embryo of gestation day 56 (E56), and made into microskin or stamp skin graft. The microskin was transplanted to the dorsal wound in BALB/c nude mice, then covered with human corpse skin. The stamp skin graft was imbedded subcutaneously into the back of nude mice, and microskin was injected subcutaneously into the auricles of nude mice. Their growth and development were observed and they were examined by HE staining at 6th and 12th week after transplantation respectively. Two-sample t test was used to analyze the size of newly grown skin tissue. Results Porcine skin precursor tissue graft in three models above survived and continued growth after transplantation, and growth ability of the dorsal wound transplantation model was significantly stronger than that of the auricle model. Epidermis and hypodermis were detected in newly grown skin tissues. Hair follicles, a few of sebaceous glands, but no sweat glands were observed in auricle model, while many sebaceous glands and sweat glands were observed in the dorsal wound model. Conclusion Transplantation of microskin to dorsal wound is the optimal model of investigating the xenotransplantation of fetal pig skin precursor tissue and its development after transplantion.

Objective To evaluate the feasibility of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) associated microbubble-enhancing contrast (“SonoVue”) therapeutic ablation of uterine fibroids in patients with pelvic operation history. Methods A total of 100 patients with uterine fibroid from October 2010 to December 2012 in Suining Central Hospital of Sichuan were treated with HIFU associated SonoVue. Among them, 50 patients had pelvic operation history. The no-perfused volume, median fractional ablation, ablation power rate, ablation dose, treatment time and adverse reaction were recorded. Results There was no statistical significance between patients with operation history and without in no-perfused volume and ablation does. The ablation power was lower in patients with operation than without. The treatment time and room time were longer in patients with operation than without. The adverse reactions were higher in patients with operation than without, especially skin pain and lower abdominal pain ( <0.05) . According to short- and long-term follow-up results, no major complications were observed in any patients. Conclusion Pelvic operation history increases the difficulty in treatment of HIFU ablation uterine fibroids. HIFU associated contrast agent SonoVue ablation can be considered a safe and feasible approach to the management of uterine fibroids in patients with pelvic operation history after grasping the indications and contraindications.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of tibial bone-skin flap grafts in the management of se- vere traumatic osteomyelitis complicated with bone and skin defect in leg to avoid amputation.Methods From March 1998 to Aug.2004,12 cases of the traumatic osteomyelitis complicated with bone and skin defect in leg were treated with vascularized tibial bone-skin flap graft.The longest flap was 17cm,widethest 10cm, The longest bone flap was 12cm.They were followed up for 0.6 to 5 years.Results All the tibial bone-skin flaps survived completely,2 cases of osteomyelitis recurred.The followed-up,from 0.5 to five years,showed good bone union in all cases,averageing 15 weeks.The infection was under control.The leg function and con- tour were satisfactory.Conclusion The tibial bone-skin flap has the advantages of having distinguished sign of anatomy,highly vascularized,easy to obtain,simply and flexible procedure,improving circulation,short- ens hospitalization and suitable for treatment of traumatic osteomyelitis complicated with bone and skin defect in leg.

Objective To study the effect of amylin on the secretion of glucagon and insulin in isolated rat islets. Methods The models of isolated rat islets were established by collagenase digestion and dextran gradient centrifugation. The influence of various concentrations of amylin on both glucagon and insulin secretion was studied. Results Various concentrations of glucose increased the insulin secretion and decreased the glucagon secretion.Compared with the control, islets exposed to amylin (10~ -10 to 10~ -5 mol/L) for 1 hour showed decreasing glucagon secretion as the glucose increased (0, 5.6 and 11.2 mmol/L) (P

Objective: To understand the AIDS knowledge,attitudes and practices of freshmen in Hangzhou and to provide evidence for prevention and control of AIDS in university students. Methods: Freshmen who enrolled in 2015 in a comprehensive university in Hangzhou were recruited by convenience sampling method and surveyed by a questionnaire about AIDS knowledge,attitudes and practices. Logistic regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors for awareness of AIDS knowledge among freshmen. Results: There were 1 999 respondents recruited,with a response rate of 95.19%. The awareness rates of basic and extend AIDS knowledge were 97.90% and 30.67%,respectively. The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that residence（OR=1.210,95%CI：1.006-1.456）,average or good family economic status（OR：1.874-3.027,95%CI：1.255-7.300）,receiving AIDS/STD related education（OR=1.717,95%CI：1.407-2.097）and receiving AIDS/STD related counselling in the past year（OR=1.786,95%CI：1.033-3.088）were the promotive factors for awareness of AIDS knowledge among freshmen. About 48.50% of freshmen thought they were impossible to be infected with AIDS,and 47.10% of them thought they were less likely to be infected with AIDS. About 0.90% of freshmen had sexual experience,fifteen,two and one of them experienced their first sex with girlfriend/boyfriend,homosexual partners and casual sex partners,respectively;nine of them used condoms in their first sex. The proportions of receiving AIDS/STD related services among freshmen ranged 2.00% from 37.77%. Conclusion The freshmen have a poor understanding of AIDS,weak awareness of HIV infection risk,high-risk behaviors for STDS/AIDS and receive insufficient AIDS prevention and intervention measures.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of the combined therapy with oxaliplatin and capecitabine (XELOX) in patients with advanced or recurrent gastric cancer.

METHODSForty-one patients with previously untreated advanced or recurrent gastric cancer received intravenous infusion of oxaliplatin at the dose of 130 mg/m(2) on day 1 and oral administration of capecitabine at 1000 mg/m(2) twice a day on days 1-14. The chemotherapy was repeated every 2 weeks for a median of 4 cycles.

RESULTSTwo of 41 patients achieved a complete response, and 15 had partial responses, with an overall response rate of 41.5%. Stable disease was observed in 11 patients and progressive disease in 9. The median time to progression and overall survival was 6.2 months and 11.8 months. All the 41 patients were evaluated for toxicity according to NCI criteria, 4 showed grade 3-4 neural toxicity, 4 had hematological toxicity and 3 had hand-foot syndrome.

CONCLUSIONThe XELOX regimen shows good efficacy with an acceptable toxicity profile in advanced or recurrent gastric cancer patient.

Professor YANG Yun-kuan summarizes rich experiences on treatment of dermopathy with acupuncture and moxibustion in clinical and teaching practice of over 30 years. Here his unique therapy of cotton-sheet moxibustion is introduced. Different dermal diseases are treated with combination of cotton-sheet moxibustion with body acupuncture or skin needle, achieving good clinical effects. Cotton-sheet moxibustion has the characteristics of common materials and convenient manipulation. This is a safe, economic therapy with obvious therapeutic effect and it provides an effective way for treatment of dermopathy.
