Objective To examine the application value of reticulocyte hemoglobin content (CHr)for diagnosing iron deficiency in premenopausal women. Methods The levels of CHr,hemoglobin (Hb), mean cellular volume(MCV),red cell distribution width (RDW) were measured on the ADVIA 120 (Bayer Diagnostics) automated hematology analyzer.Transferrin saturation (TS) and ferritin (SF) were measured on chemistry analyzer. Results CHr in iron deficiency without anemia group were significantly lower than that in the healthy control group (P<0.01)and significantly higher than that in iron deficiency anemia group(P<0.01).CHr in anemia of chronic disease group were significantly higher than that in iron deficiency anemia group(P<0.01).Receiver operator characteristic curve (ROC) analysis in diagnosis of iron dificiency without anemia demonstrated that the area under the curve for CHr,SF,RDW,MCV,Hb were 0.872,0.798,0.721,0.713,0.677,respectively (P<0.01).So CHr has a better overall sensitivity than SF,Hb,MCV and RDW in the diagnosis of iron deficiency without anemia.ROC also showed that the area under the curve for Hb,RDW,CHr,SF and MCV was 1.000,0.969,0.958,0.953 and 0.926,respectively (P<0.01) in iron deficiency anemia. Conclusion CHr is the early and sensitive predictor of iron deficiency in premenopausal women, especially for the diagnosis of iron deficiency without anemia.

Objective To promote teaching qualities of pediatrics,problem-based learning (PBL)and lecture-based learnin(gLBL)were contrasted, and effects of the new teaching method were evaluated. Methods 58 medical students of English class Grade 2004 were chosen and divided into two groups, namely,PBL group,LBL group, each taught through the corresponding method in the chapter Rickets of Vitamin D Deficiency. At the end of the course,an objective exam was taken and the scores, checkout rate and excellent rate were used to assess the teaching quality. Results The scores and checkout rate of case analysis of the students in the PBL group are higher than that in the LBL group. Conclusion The approach of PBL can elevate the students'clinical thinking capability.

Objective To investigate the premature spontaneous ovulation rates in in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) cycles using gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonist (GnRH-ant) and gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRH-a), as well as the risk factors for premature spontaneous ovulation. Methods The rates of premature spontaneous ovulation in a total of 10 612 cycles using GnRH-ant or GnRH-a were compared. Matched case-controlled study and binary logistic regression model were conducted to analyze the risk factors for premature spontaneous ovulation. Results The spontaneous ovulation rate in the whole for GnRH-a cycles was 0.15%(13/8 514), compared with a 1.62%(34/2 098) in GnRH-ant cycles (P<0.01). Further matched controlled study and regression analyze found out that higher basal FSH level was a predominant risk and prediction factor for spontaneous ovulation (OR=1.20, P=0.009). Conclusions In GnRH-ant cycles, spontaneous ovulation rate is about 10 times than which in GnRH-a cycles. Diminished ovarian function is a predominate risk factor for premature spontaneous ovulation.

Objective To determine the neuroprotective effect of clonidine on primary cultured cortical neurons in rats exposed to oxygen-glucose deprivation ( OGD) injury. Methods Cortical neurons cultured for 8 days were randomly assigned to the three groups: normal control group, model control group, and clonidine pretreatment group. OGD injury model was established by chemical hypoxia and glucose deprivation in incubation liquid for 4 h. Clonidine (1. 0, 3. 0, 10 μmol·L-1 ) was added 24 h before OGD injury. Neuronal injury was evaluated by MTT staining and the release of lactate dehydrogenase ( LDH) . Results Under the microscope, primary cultured cortical neurons in normal control group presented great density, round size, smooth edge, and high diopter,The suvival rate of neurons and the percentage of LDH releasing were (100. 00±32. 12)% and (100. 00 ± 37. 51 )%, respectively. After exposure to OGD injury, cortical neurons showed karyopyknosis, incomplete cell membranes, low diopters and a significant reduction in optical density of MTT staining. In addition, the suvival rate of neurons and the percentage of LDH releasing were (53. 61±7. 62)% and (166. 07±9. 65)% separately compared with normal control group. In the group with pretreatment of different concentrations of clonidine (1. 0, 3. 0, 10μmol·L-1), morphological changes induced by OGD injury were significantly reversed and optical density of MTT staining was dose-dependently raised. The percentages of survival neurons much higher than that of model control group were [(67. 53±10. 54)%, (71. 50±9. 79)% and (87. 48±5. 29)%, separately] and the obvious reductions of LDH releasing were [(136. 45±25. 72)%, (130. 92±24. 94)%and (121. 63±32. 68)%, respectively]. Conclusion Clonidine can exert neuroprotection against OGD-induced injury in primary cultured cortical neurons in rats.

OBJECTIVE:To explore the regularity and characteristics of anaphylactoid reactions induced by Magnesium iso-glycyrrhizinate injection, and provide reference for clinical rational drug use. METHODS:27 ADR reports induced by Magnesium isoglycyrrhizinate injection from Hunan Center for ADR Monitoring from Jan. 2014 to Mar. 2015 were retrospectively analyzed. RE-SULTS:In the 27 cases,15 were male (55.56%) and 12 were female (44.44%),with percentage of 1.25∶1;ADR mainly oc-curred in patients with 41-60 years old(51.85%);involved organ/system were mainly skin and its appendages(35.85%)and sys-temic damage(26.42%),the main clinical manifestations were rash, itching, fever, chills, vomiting and dizziness;there were 7 severe ADR reports(25.92%),mainly showed chills, fever and other systemic symptoms;most ADR can be cured(40.74%)or relieved(55.56%)by related processing. CONCLUSIONS:There are no risk tips for severe allergic reactions in instruction,it is necessary to strengthen post-marketing surveillance and further improve the drug instructions to reduce the risk of severe ADR in-duced by Magnesium isoglycyrrhizinate injection.

Objective To obtain the protein interacting with inhibitor of differentiation1′(Id1′). Methods The recombinant bait plasmid pHybLex/Zeo Id1′ was constructed and transformed into yeast strain EGY48/ pSH18 34 to test pHybLex/Zeo Id1′ for non specific activation. Adult human lung cDNA libraries were screened to obtain true positive library plasmid. The true positive library clone was obtained by sequencing and basic local alignment sequence tool (BLAST). Results The recombinant bait vector, named as pHybLex/Zeo Id1′, was confirmed by sequencing. pHybLex/Zeo Id1′ was transformed into yeast strain EGY48/pSH18 34 and the transformants had no autonomously activated reporter genes. One true positive clone, obtained by screening of the adult human lung cDNA libraries, was confirmed to be Fyn by sequencing and BLAST. Conclusion Id1′ can interact with Fyn.
