Objective To investigate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor C(VEGF-C ) in tissue, serum and lymph fluid in esophageal cancer patients, and the relationship between its expression and tumor lymphatic metastasis. Methods Expressions of VEGF-C in 76 cases of ESC was detected by immunohisto-chemical SP method and VEGF-C levels in lymph fluid and serum were assessed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results Positive immunostaining of VEGF-C in esophageal cancer tissue was 63.1%,The expression of VEGF-C in tissue was significantly associated with lymph node metastasis and TNM stage ( P<0.01, P<0.05 respectively), but not to patient age, tumor length or differentiation; VEGF-C in lymph fluid is significantly higher than in serum( P<0.05) ; The expression of VEGF-C in lymph fluid end serum were significantly associated with lymph node metastasis( P<0.05). Conclusion There are cliuical significance between VEGF-C expression and lymph node metastasis、TNM stage in tissue of esophageal cancer. The level of VFGF-C in lymph fluid is higher than that in serum, both associate with lymph-node metastasis closely.

Objective To investigate the mechanism of high-glucose-induced injury to human peritoneal mesothelial cells(HPMC). Methods (1)The cultured HPMCs were exposed to culture medium containing different concentrations of glucose(1. 5% , 2. 5% , 4. 25% )for 48 hours and 4. 25% mannitol and normal culture medium were as control. Then apoptosis was observed by flow cytometry and caspase-3 activity was measured by ApoAlert?CPP33/Caspase-3 Assay kits. (2) The cultured HPMCs were exposed to 4.25% glucose culture medium containing different concentrations of caspases inhibitor, Z-VAD. fmk (25, 50, 100 ?mol/L) for 48 hours and 4. 25% glucose culture medium containing DMSO was as control. Then apoptosis was observed by flow cytometry and caspase-3 activity was measured by ApoAlert?CPP33/ Caspase-3 Assay kits as well. Results (1) Glucose increased caspase-3 activity in a concentration-dependent manner. Compared to control, caspase-3 activity was significantly higher in 4. 25% glucose group and 2. 5% glucose group, but not significantly different in 1. 5% glucose group and 4. 25% mannitol group. (2) Apoptotic rate of HPMC was significantly lower in Z-VAD. fmk group than that in control. Z-VAD. fmk decreased the number of apoptotic cells in a concentration-dependent manner. Also, caspase-3 activity of HPMC was significantly lower in Z-VAD. fmk group than that in control. Conclutions (1) High-glucose can induce apoptosis and caspase-3 activation of HPMC in a dose-dependent manner. (2) Z-VAD. fmk inhibits high glucose-induced apoptosis of HPMC in a dose-dependent manner. (3)High glucose induces apoptosis of human peritoneal mesothelial cells by caspase-3 activation.

Objective To establish an ICP-MS method for the determination of heavy metals,including copper(Cu),arsenium(As),cadmium(Cd) and plumbum(Pb),in five kinds of Chinese medicinal material.Methods The samples were digested by closed-vessel microwave.The four heavy metals were directly analyzed by ICP-MS,with elements 72Ge,115In,and 209Bi as the internal standards.Results For all of the analyzed heavy metals,the correlative coefficient of the calibration curves was in the range of 0.999 5～ 0.999 7.The recovery rates were in the range of 92.3 % ～ 108.0 %,and RSD were in the range of 2.4 % ～ 5.8 %.Conclusion The method is convenient,rapid,accurate and can be applied to determine four heavy metals,including Cu,As,Cd and Pb,in Chinese medicinal material.

Hookworm is harmful to human health mainly including anemia, digestive tract symptoms, female infection can also cause menopause, abortion, infection in infants and young children can lead growth retardation. With the development of economy and implementation of mass drug administration strategies, the infection of hookworm in human body has decreased continuously, but there are still a large number of mild infection cases which clinical symptoms are not obvious, easy to cause missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis. Several zoonotic hookworm species can cause large-scale infections in cats, dogs and other animals, so as to increase the risk of human hookworm infection. Therefore, it is important to find a highly sensitive and rapid detection techniques to identify hookworm species. In this paper, the existing detection techniques of hookworm were reviewed and their application were prospected to provide ideas for hookworm detection at present situation.

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics of pontine infarction and the value of MRI in diagnosis of pontine infarction. Methods The cilinical feature and image manifestation of 65 cases with pontine infarction were analyzed retrospectively. Results Pontine infarction had complicated clinical presentation,classical syndrome was less,most presentation was similar to anterior circulation infarction. MRI especially DWI could found the infarction lesions earlier. Conclusion Pontine infarction and anterior circulation infarction have simlar presentations.MRI especially DWI could show the infarction lesions in supper-acute stage,could be helpful to diagnose.

Objective To evaluate the effect of continuous adenosine infusion on mesentery microcirculation during cardiopulmonary resuscitation in rats with asphyxia. Methods Rat model of asphyxia was established in 22 healthy Wistar rats. The animals were then randomly divided into normal saline group (group A, n=10), epinephrine group (group B, n=6) and epinephrine plus adenosine group (group C, n=6). After a 3-min asphyxia without intervention, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was started. The cardiac compression was carried out with an electric cardio-pulmonary resuscitation machine (200 times/min). Respiration was restored and maintained with a ventilator with tidal volume of 4ml, breathing rate 50times/min and FiO2 100%. After a 4-min CPR, rats in group A and group B were given normal saline and epinephrine (bolus of 90?g/kg) respectively, and in group C epinephrine (bolus of 90?g/kg) plus 70?g/kg adenosine were given. Electric defibrillation would be initiated if there was ventricular fibrillation. The reperfusion rate of mesentery arterioles and venules, diameter of blood vessels and relative blood velocity were observed. Objective To investigate the correlation between BRAF V600E mutation and anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) monoclonal antibodies (MoAbs) therapeutic effects in metastatic colorectal cancer.
Methods Studies were included into meta-analysis to investigate the association between BRAF V600E mutation and clinical outcome in metastatic colorectal cancer patients treated with anti-EGFR MoAbs.
Results A total of 7 studies were included in this meta-analysis. The 7 studies included 1352 patients in total, sample sizes ranged from 67 to 493. Objective response rate (ORR), progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were collected from included studies and were used to assess the strength of the relation. In patients with wild-type KRAS, the pooled odds ratio for ORR of mutant BRAF over wild-type BRAF was 0.27 (95%CI=0.10-0.70). BRAF mutation predicted a deterioration in PFS and OS in wild-type KRAS patients treated with anti-EGFR MoAbs (hazard ratio=2.78, 95% CI=1.62-4.76;hazard ratio=2.54, 95%CI=1.93-3.32).
Conclusion BRAF V600E mutation is related to lack of response and worse survival in wild-type KRAS metastatic colorectal cancer patients treated with anti-EGFR MoAbs.
