Objective To discuss whether acupuncture at Neiguan (PC 6) inhibits myocardial hypertrophy via monoamine neurotransmitters.Method Sixty female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized into a control group, a model group, a sham electroacupuncture (EA) group, and an EA group, 15 cases in each group. The rat models of myocardial hypertrophy were developed by subcutaneous injection of Isoprenaline hydrochloride (ISO) for 14 d. The EA group was intervened by EA at Neiguan (PC 6), and the sham EA group was by EA at a sham acupoint [5 mm away lateral to Neiguan (PC 6). The Electrocardiogram (ECG) of each group was recorded, electron microscope was used to observe the microstructure of the rats’ myocardial tissues, and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was adopted to detect the contents of catecholamines in myocardial tissues.Result The heart rate, R-R interval, ST-elevation, and the contents of catecholamines in rats’ myocardial tissues (adrenaline, noradrenaline, and dopamine) in the model group and sham EA group were significantly different from that in the control group (P<0.05). The heart rate, R-R interval, ST-elevation, and the contents of catecholamines in rats’ myocardial tissues (adrenaline, noradrenaline, and dopamine) of the EA group were significantly different from that of the model group (P<0.05).Conclusion EA at Neiguan (PC 6) can improve myocardial hypertrophy, which is related to the regulation of the topical neurotransmitters; it has provided laboratory evidences for the relationship between Neiguan (PC 6) and heart, i.e. the relationship between acupoints and internal organs.

OBJECTIVE: To study the antineoplastic mechanism of Pingfei Mixture. METHODS: Thirty C57BL mice bearing Lewis pulmonary carcinoma were randomly divided into 3 groups: saline control group, Pingfei Mixture group and cisplatin group. Fifteen days later, tumor tissues and spleens were taken out and made into unicellular suspension. Argyrophil staining was taken to carcinoma cells and cultured T cells. KL-2 style cell image analysis system was used to analyze the rate between AgNORs and nuclear region (I.S). RESULTS: There were dense brownish-black granules in tumor cell nuclear of saline control group. The brownish-black granules of Pingfei Mixture group and cisplatin group were less than those of saline control group. The differences of T cell I.S in these three groups were significant. The I.S of Pingfei Mixture was higher than that of the other groups, and the I.S of the cisplatin group was the lowest. CONCLUSION: Pingfei Mixture can inhibit tumor cell proliferation, although the effect is inferior to cisplatin. Pingfei Mixture can also promote T cell proliferation and its effect was superior to cisplatin.

Journal of Integrative Medicine 2011;9(1):11-4
There lack scientific methods for evaluating the treatment of cancer pain with external therapies of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). The level of clinical study in this field needs to be improved. The authors assert that when external therapies of TCM are applied to treat cancer pain, different types of cancer pain should be distinguished and treatment should be applied according to such a differentiation. Under this framework scientific evaluation can be conducted. The authors also assert that the findings of randomized, blinded and controlled trials should be given particular attention, and it is necessary to include titration of morphine into clinical trails of external therapies for the treatment of cancer pain, not only complying with the three-ladder principle for treating cancer pain suggested by the World Health Organization, but also not influencing the effect evaluation of external therapies of TCM on cancer pain. Patient diaries recording pain were revised as observation indexes. The primary indicator of efficacy was the pain intensity score and the secondary indicators were the equivalent of morphine and the remission rate of pain. The time to onset, remission duration and comparison of assessment of pain influence can mirror the characteristics of external therapies of TCM on cancer pain.

Objective To investigate the clinical effects and safety of combination of open and laparoscopic surgery in treatment of elderly patients with gallbladder stones combined with common bile duct stones. Methods 140 elderly patients with gallbladder stones combined with common bile duct stones from May 2014 to May 2015 were randomly divided into control group (65 patients) with traditional open surgery and observation group (65 pa﹣tients) with combination surgery; then compared the perioperative clinical indicators, the total removal rate of stone, the postoperative analgesic used rate and postoperative complications incidence of the two groups. Results The oper﹣ation time, intraoperative blood loss volume, the exhaust time for first time and hospital staying time of observation group was significantly better than control group (P< 0.05). There was no significant difference in the total removal rate of stone between the two groups (P> 0.05). The postoperative analgesic used rate of observation group was sig﹣nificantly lower than control group (P< 0.05). The postoperative complications incidence of observation group was significantly lower than control group (P< 0.05). Conclusion Compared with traditional open surgery, combination surgery in treatment of elderly patients with gallbladder stones combined with common bile duct stones can efficient﹣ly shorten the operation time, speed up the recovery process, reduce the degree of trauma and postoperative pain and helpful to prevent the postoperative complications.

8.Study on the relationship between chest radiograph changes and clinical features
Chinese Journal of Infectious Diseases 2001;0(06):-
Objective To observe the radiological feature of chest X ray in SARS patients. Methods The chest films of 54 cases of SARS were reviewed in the study. The chest film features and site of lung involvement were studies in early stage, most severe stage and recovery stage. The correlation between the score of lung involvement and clinical course was also studied. Results 79.63% cases had abnormal chest films in early stage. Most of them (72.22%) were found in 3~7 days after onset. The lung involvement was most common in bilateral (88.89%) and most in middle and lower field (46.30%). Exudation and consolidation lesions showed to be dominant. The lesions progressed quickly and showed to be variable. There are 17 (31.48%) cases had second peak in X ray, the mean time of onset is 14.71 days. The chest X ray is not parallel with clinical syndrome. The absorption of lung infiltrates is correlation with glucocorticosteroids treatment in 20 patients, and the correlation is not found in 26 patients. Conclusions The chest X ray of SARS has some features and its changes can reflect the clinical situation.

Objective To explore the effects of intracellular calcium concentration ([Ca2 + ]i )and signal transducers and activators of transcription 3 (STAT3 )signaling pathway on the invasion of Vibrio vuknificus (Vv )clinical isolates B2 into dendritic cells (DC).Methods The co-culture model of Vv B2 and DC 2.4 was constructed.Apoptosis and necrosis rates in different invasion phases were detected by flow cytometry. The calcium fluorescence probe Fluo-8-AM was used to detect the change of [Ca2 + ]i ,and Western blot and immunofluorescent techniques were used to explore the relative molecular expressions and intracellular distributions of STAT3 and phosphorylation STAT3 [p-STAT3 (705 )].Data were analyzed by t-test.Results After co-culture ofVv B2 and DC 2.4,the apoptosis rates of 1 ,2,3 and 4 h were (13.10±4.72)%,(30.10±3.52)%,(46.20±15 .61)% and(31 .00 ±19.10)%,respectively.The differences were statistical significant between Vv standard strain (1 .1758)and Vv B2 (t=4.30,22.33, 4.30 and 4.30,respectively;P =0.040,0.002,0.040 and 0.040,respectively).The necrosis rates of 1 , 2,3 and 4 h in co-culture of Vv B2 and DC 2.4 were(19.70 ±3.50 )%,(39.20±4.60 )%,(40.90 ± 13.80)% and (62.10 ± 8.20 )%,respectively. The differences were statistical significant between Vv 1 .1758 andVv B2 (t=9.93,14.09,4.30 and 14.09,respectively;P =0.010,0.005 ,0.049 and 0.005 , respectively).Compared to Vv 1 .1758,Vv B2 induced more apparent cell apoptosis and necrosis within the same time.By fluorescence microscope, intensity of calcium was enhanced with the rising of apoptosis. Although the total expression of STAT3 increased, the relative molecular expression of p-STAT3 (705 ) decreased. There was no significant difference in its distribution in cells compared to the blank group. Conclusion The rapid apoptosis and necrosis of DC during Vv B2 invasion into DC may be caused by increasing [Ca2 + ]i and inhibiting phosphorylation of p-STAT3 (705)simultaneously.
