Objective To investigate the relationship between leukocyte counts and coronary artery stenosis as well as try to find the possible cause of coronary heart disease. Methods All the 220 patients underwent coronary angiography and leukocyte counts. The Gensini scoring system was used to determine the results of the coronary angiography. All patients were allocated into three groups according to the Gensini score. 74 cases with 0-3.00 score were classified into group CHD1 while 73 cases with 3.01-32.67 score were classified into group CHD2 and 73 cases with 32.68-180.00 score into group CHD3. The distribution of leukocyte counts in the three groups underwent analysis of variance and the relationship between leukocyte counts and the Gensini score was further investigated by means of multiple linear regression analysis. [WT5”HZ]Results The analysis of one way variance showed that neutrophil, monocyte and leukocyte counts were associated with the Gensini score. Multiple linear regression analysis adjusted for many risk factors for coronary heart disease showed that neutrophil counts had independent association with the Gensini score. Conclusion Neutrophil counts were independently associated with coronary artery stenosis.

China Pharmacy 2016;27(19):2612-2614
OBJECTIVE:To study the cardiac and skeletal toxicity of retinoic acid (RA) in Danio rerio at early life stage. METHODS:Danio rerio embryos of 24 hours post fertilization(hpf)were used as toxicity model and were exposed under medium with various concentrations of RA(0.1,1,10,25,100 μmol/L). The morphology of embryos and larvae hearts were observed 24,48 h after exposed. LC50 was calculated. Danio rerio larvae of 4 days post fertilization (dpf) were used as skeletal deformity model and were exposed with a series of RA at various concentration(0.1,1,10,25,50μmol/L). They were sacrificed 5 d later, and then Danio rerio skeleton were fixed for staining with alizarin red. The microscopic was used to observe the difference of stained skeleton area. RESULTS:RA caused significant adverse effects on hatching capabilities of Danio rerio embryos, and the ob-vious malformation features were produced during the culture process. 1-100 μmol/L RA could cause heart malformation in Danio rerio embryos and larvae, and the main heart malformation characteristics included heart linearization, pericardial edema,yolksa-cedema,hemocytes accumulation incardiac region. 100 μmol/L RA could inhibit the hatching capabilities of Danio rerio embryos, and caused lethal effects on embryos and larvae. The LC50 were 36.44,23.69 μmol/L after exposed for 24,48 h. 0.1-50 μmol/L RA induced vertebral column sclerotization of Danio rerio embryos and larvae in advance, which was positively associated with the con-centration of RA. CONCLUSIONS:RA can cause cardiac and skeletal toxicity in Danio rerio embryo and larvae, which is positive-ly associated with the concentration of RA.

Objective To investigate the mechanism of drug resistance mediated by micF gene and outer membrane porin F ( OmpF) in Shigella strains. Methods Shigella strains were isolated from stool samples of patients who presented to the Second Hospital of Tianjin Medical University with acute diar-rhea in 2015. Antibiotic susceptibility test was performed to screen out the multidrug-resistant and non-multi-drug-resistant strains. The ompF gene was amplified by PCR. The micF and ompF genes at transcriptional levels in the two groups of strains were detected by quantitative real-time RT-PCR. Intracellular concentra-tions of ciprofloxacin in the two groups of Shigella strains were measured by automatic microplate reader. Re-sults According to the result of antibiotic susceptibility test, 13 strains that were resistant to 3 or more than 3 antibiotics were classified into the multidrug-resistant group, while the other 8 strains that were sensitive to all antibiotics used in this study or only resistant to 1 or 2 antibiotic were classified into the non-multidrug-re-sistant group. All of the 21 Shigella strains carried the ompF gene. Compared with the non-multidrug-resist-ant strains, the multidrug-resistant strains showed higher expression of micF gene, but lower expression of ompF gene. The differences in micF and ompF genes between the two groups were statistically significant. The result of correlation analysis suggested that there was a negative correlation between micF and ompF genes (r=-0. 244). The intracellular concentrations of ciprofloxacin in multidrug-resistant strains were low-er than those in the non-multidrug-resistant strains (P<0. 001). Conclusion The decreased expression of OmpF was one of the possible mechanisms of multidrug-resistance in Shigella strains. The micF gene was negatively related to the expression of OmpF. Moreover, the decreased intracellular concentrations of cipro-floxacin in multidrug-resistant strains might be related to the decreased expression of OmpF.
