Chinese Journal of Dermatology 1995;0(03):-
In the paper, we used the culture medium for L-form of gonococcus and dryg sensitivity test to iso late 18 strains of L-form of gonococcus from 84 patients susoected of gonorrhea in clinical practice. Conventional culture medium for gonocuccus were used as control. The result showed that the culture of L-form of gonococcus increased foe rate of detection of gonococcus and decreased under diagnosis. It is helpful in guiding the treatment.
2.Predictors at nadir of severity on patients with Guillain-Barr? syndrome
Chinese Journal of Neurology 2001;0(02):-
Objective To explore the factors relating to the severity of Guillain-Barr? syndrome (GBS) (i.e. of being the mild form or in need of mechanical ventilation), and to find the predictors in early clinical presentations and laboratory investigations as to guiding the early management of GBS. Methods All 123 cases of patients with GBS admitted to Xuanwu Hospital from 1996-2002 were collected, and divided into two groups based on the international criteria for different severity of GBS. Mildly affected patients (i.e. able to walk unaided during the whole course or the Medical Research Council [MRC] muscle power grading scale≥4 in both lower limbs at nadir) and ventilated patients (i.e. in need of mechanical ventilation) were divided in this study. Characteristics of each group in early clinical presentations and laboratory investigations were analyzed in univariate conditional Logistic model in order to find out the predictors. Results In all 123 patients studied, 32 were having mild GBS; 29 severe GBS (i.e. in need of mechanical ventilation during the course). Men (P=0.047) and patients without bulbar dysfunction (P=0.002) were more likely to become mild GBS. The possibility of being mild form was 3.33∶1 between man and woman, 1∶20.17 between those with and without bulbar dysfunction. Patients with bulbar dysfunction (P

Objective:To report the clinical manifestations and management of infectious spondylitis following vertebroplasty or kyphoplasty. Methods:Six cases of infectious spondylitis following vertebroplasty or kyphoplasty were analyzed retrospectively which had been treated at Department of Spinal Surgery, Henan Provincial People's Hospital between January 2014 and June 2019. They were 2 males and 4 females, aged from 64 to 81 years. Their visual analogue scale (VAS) scores ranged from 6 to 8 points; their spinal cord function was graded as C in 2 cases and E in 4 according to the American Spinal Cord Injury Association (ASIA) grading. All the patients were treated by sub-total resection of the infected vertebra, long segmental pedicle screw fixation and corresponding antibiotics therapy. The therapeutic efficacy was assessed by the inflammation indexes, imaging examinations and clinical manifestations. Results:The 6 patients were followed up for 12 to 42 months(mean 20.4 months). Their operation time ranged from 295 to 455 min (mean 370.8 min) and blood loss from 760 to 2, 250 mL (mean 1 536.7 mL). There were no such serious complications as dural tear, worsening of neurological symptoms or death. The last follow-up revealed normal body temperature and fine incision healing in all patients. Their inflammatory indexes returned to normal. Imaging examinations at the last follow-up showed no displacement of internal implants, no screw loosening or breakage of screws or rods, good bony fusion at the grafting site, and no inflammatory signals from the infected vertebra. At the last follow-up, their VAS for back pain ranged from 2 to 4 points, the ASIA grading was improved from C to D in 2 patients and maintained E in 4. Eventually, 4 patients recovered independent normal walking but 2 required a walker. Conclusions:Infectious spondylitis following vertebroplasty or kyphoplasty can lead to back pain and neurological dysfunction. Sub-total resection of the infected vertebra, long segmental pedicle screw fixation and corresponding antibiotics therapy can result in fine therapeutic outcomes.

This paper aims to establish a method for the determination of sulfur dioxide in sulfur fumigation Chinese herbs. Sample powder and hydrochloric acid solution were isolated by paraffin layer in order to avoid early reactions, with the generation of sulfur dioxide, headspace with airtight needle was used to transfer sulfur dioxide into gas chromatograph, and detected with thermal conductivity detector. The analytical performance was demonstrated by the analysis of 12 herbs, spiked at four concentration levels. In general, the recoveries ranging from 70% to 110%, with relative standard deviations (RSDs) within 15%, were obtained. The limit of detection (LOD) was below 10 mg x kg(-1). Standard addition can be used for low recovery samples. The method is simple, less time-consuming, specific and sensitive. Methods comparison revealed that gas chromatography is better than traditional titration in terms of method operability, accuracy and specificity, showing good application value.

Objective: To study the cellular immune responses and the anti-tumor effects induced by peptides derived from onco-protein HER2/neu. Methods: Two HER2/neu peptides compatible with H-2Kd binding motif as tumor rejection antigens were synthesized. The ability of inducing peptide-specific CTLs and suppressing the tumor growth in BALB/c mice immunized by HER2/neu peptide was analyzed. Results: HER2/neu peptides could promote the proliferation of BALB/c lymphocytes both in vitro and in vivo. HER2/neu peptide-specific CTLs could be induced from peptide-immu-nized BALB/c mice, which showed specifically killing effects on HER2/neu positive SP2/OHER2 cells but not on HER2/neu negative SP2/O cells. Moreover, the growth of SP2/OHER2 tumor were significantly suppressed in BALB/c mice immunized with HER2/neu peptides. Conclusion: These results suggested that it was feasible to use MHC-I epitopes derived from tumor-specific antigens as vaccines for cancer immunotherapy.

The ancient literature on Taiyuan (LU 9) was collected to summarize the application laws of this acupoint. One thousand TCM ancient works collected in Chinese Medical Dictionary (fourth edition) were retrieved. The literature on the indications of Taiyuan (LU 9), the indications of Taiyuan (LU 9) combined prescriptions, the laws of acupoints combination and the techniques of acupuncture and moxibustion was collected systematically and the database was set up. It is found that there are 333 provisions in compliance with the inclusive standard of Taiyuan (LU 9), 306 provisions for the treatment of disorders and 66 relevant ancient works. There are 119 provisions relevant with the indication of single Taiyuan (LU 9) , 187 provisions for the applications of the combined prescriptions and 143 acupoints for the combined acupoints. Taiyuan (LU 9) and the combined prescriptions are applied to every department in clinic, especially for the disorders of TCM internal medicine department. The combined acupoints are distributed among the fourteen meridians and extra points and had been used totally for 1142 times. Of these points, there are 9 acupoints from the lung meridian of hand-taiyin and 25 acupoints from the bladder meridian of foot-taiyang, with the highest use frequency, 195 times and 141 times respectively, accounting for 17.08% and 12.35% of the total frequency. The common pairs of combination are Taiyuan (LU 9) and Yuji (LU 10), Taiyuan (LU 9) and Lieque (LU 7) and Taiyuan (LU 9) and Taibai (SP 3). The common dose of moxibustion at the acupoint is 3 cones. The depth of insertion is 0.2 cun and the acupuncture time is two breathes.

Objective To simulate and evaluate the upper and lower limbs posture on rehabilitation devices training with the Computer Aided Tri-Dimensional Interface Application (CATIA) man-machine analysis module. Methods The human body sizes were determined as the 95th percentile Chinese men. Based on the ergonomics analysis of CATIA, three-dimensional human body was constructed in the upper and lower limbs rehabilitation equipment. Virtual human relationship was established. The attitude of the upper and lower limbs in rehabilitation equipment was simulated and evaluated. Results The human limbs model moved in the normal range and the scores were more than 90 which meant comfortable. The forces of various parts of the body was under the stress limit, as well as the force moment. The arm tension was 3-5 points with the rapid upper limb assessment, which meant the rehabilitation equipment was acceptable. Conclusion Rehabilitation robot may be optimized through the model of the human upper extremity stretch domain analysis, body posture assessment, rapid upper limb assessment and biomechanical analysis under CATIA.

Objective:To evaluate the short-term prognostic value of model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) combined with high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) in patients with hepatitis B virus-related acute-on-chronic liver failure (HBV-ACLF).Methods:From December 2015 to December 2018, 182 patients with HBV-ACLF who were treated in Henan Provincial People′s Hospital were included. Prognosis and clinical data including HDL-C, total bilirubin, international standardized ratio (INR), creatinine of patients within 24 hours after admission were collected and analyzed retrospectively. The values of MELD were calculated. The binary logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the independent risk factors affecting 90-day mortality in HBV-ACLF patients. The receiver operator characteristic curve (ROC) and MedCalc 15.2 software were used to assess the predictive value of MELD, HDL-C and MELD-HDL-C model for prognosis. Kaplan-Meier survival curve was performed to analyze the prognosis of patients in different groups. Results:Sixty patients were divided into the death group and 122 patients were divided into the survival group according to the prognosis during hospitalization and 90 days after discharge. The MELD score of patients in the survival group was 21(19, 24), which was significantly lower than that in the death group (29(25, 34)), and the HDL-C value of patients in the survival group was significantly higher than that in the death group (0.3 (0.1, 0.6) mmol/L vs 0.2(0.1, 0.5) mmol/L). The differences were both statistically significant ( Z=-6.290 and -4.087, respectively, both P<0.01). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that MELD score and HDL-C value were the independent risk factors for 90-day mortality in patients with HBV-ACLF(odds ratio ( OR)=1.432, 95% confidence interval ( CI)1.271-1.613; OR=0.584, 95% CI 0.487-0.700, respectively; both P<0.01). Areas under the ROC of MELD, HDL-C and MELD-HDL-C scoring models were 0.775, 0.782 and 0.878, respectively. MELD-HDL-C scoring model was superior to both MELD and HDL-C , and the differences were both statistically significant ( Z=3.944 and 3.104, respectively, both P<0.01). When the MELD-HDL-C Youden′s index was set at 0.72, the optimal threshold was 24.69. Patients with MELD-HDL-C score≥24.69 had lower survival rate than patients with MELD-HDL-C score<24.69, and the difference was statistically significant ( χ2=142.900, P<0.01). Conclusion:MELD, HDL-C and MELD-HDL-C scoring systems could predict the short-term prognosis in patients with HBV-ACLF, and the predictive value of MELD-HDL-C has the superiority.
