Metabolic syndrome (MS) is characterized by high blood glucose,high blood lipid,high blood pressure,and abdominal obesity with insulin resistance as the main characteristics.At present,some epidemiological surveys demonstrate the incidence rates of some malignant neoplasms including prostate cancer,hepatocellular carcinoma,colorectal adenoma,and breast cancer among MS patients were obviously increasing.Patients with MS present a high morbidity of certain tumors.This article summarizes the relationship between MS and malignant neoplasms as well as related mechanisms.
2.New progresses of microRNAs researches in breast cancer and breast cancer stem cells

microRNAs play a critical role in breast tumorigenesis and progression, in which it might serve as oncogene, tumor suppressor gene, regulators of invasion, apoptosis and therapy resistance. Moreover,there has been a large body of evidences for the involvement of miRNAs in the self-renewal, differentiation and tumor formation of breast cancer stem cells. This review respectively summarizes the relations between microRNAs and breast cancer, breast cancer stem cell as well as the progresses of applying microRNAs to tumor therapy.

5.Comparision Study of Therapeutic Effection Between Laparosccopical Incision Henia Repair and Open Incision Henia Repair

Objective Our aim is to compare the safety and benefits of laparoscopic versus open incision hernia repair.Methods Forty-seven patients in our hospital were analyzed with prospective randomized double-blind study following either laparoscopic or open hernia repair.And others prospective randomized studies(PRS)were analyzed.Results Overall complication rate was similar in both groups(8.5% versus 9.2% in the laparoscopic and open groups respectively),but some early complications in the laparoscopic group maybe require a reoperation.Operating time was similar in the laparoscopic group.There was shorter length of stay and higher expense in the laparoscopic group and there was significant difference in the pain scores and medications,resumption of diet,or activity scores.At 2 weeks,there was no difference in the activity or pain scores,but physical function and physical health scores on the short-form 36(SF36)quality of life assessment forms were little in the laparoscopic group.Regardless of the technique(P=0.158).The result of PRS meta-analyses is that operating time was simila in the laparoscopic group.There was longer length of stay in the Laparoscopic group.And the rate of wound infection is significantly higher in the open groups.Conclusion Unlike other minimally invasive procedures,Laparoscopic hernia repair did not offer an advantage over open hernia repair in all studied parameters except pain,activities and quality of life scores at 2 weeks.It also took similar to perform.The choice of the procedure should be based on surgeon or patient preference.

8.Current status of tissue engineering in urology

Tissue engineering provides urologists a new way to fix or reconstruct the impaired organs.Reconstitution of corporal bodies of penis with engineered tissue substitutes has been applied in animal models.In hypospadias reconstruction,the use of engineered tissue substitutes has been applied clinically.The clinical application of bladder tissue substitutes has been ongoing phase II clinical trial.Great progress has been made in renal replacement therapy with clinical application of human progenitor cells in hemofiltration units,and the engineered intracorporeal renal replacement unit will come true by additional studies.The current status of tissue engineering in clinical practice of urology is reviewed in this paper.
9.Clinical observation of endophthalmitis caused by intraocular foreign body injury

AIM: To investigate the infection factors,diagnosis and treatment of endophthalmitis after intraocular foreign body injury.METHODS: Totally 256 cases with intraocular foreign bodies including the occurrence of endophthalmitis in 42 cases were analyzed retrospectively.RESULTS: The incidence of endophthalmitis after intraocular foreign body injury was 16.4%.Posterior segment foreign bodies and combined with traumatic cataract were the risk factors of endophthalmitis after intraocular foreign body injury (all P<0.05).Intravitreal injection of vancomycin hydrochloride and ceftazidime in the treatment of intraocular foreign body injury reduced the incidence of endophthalmitis (P<0.05).Types and sizes of intraocular foreign bodies,the time of extraction and the condition of wound had no significant effect on the incidence of endophthalmitis (all P>0.05).Vitrectomy was the main treatment of endophthalmitis.CONCLUSION: Posterior segment foreign bodies and combined with traumatic cataract were the risk factors of endophthalmitis after intraocular foreign body injury.It should be kept the integrity of the posterior capsule of lens in traumatic cataract surgery.Intravitreal injection of vancomycin and ceftazidime is recommended in emergency surgery.Vitrectomy should be performed as soon as possible when confirmed endophthalmitis.
10.Efficient transient expression to analyze miRNA targets in rice protoplasts.

Compared with the transgenic approach, transient assays provide a convenient alternative to analyze gene expression. To analyze the relationship between miRNAs and their target genes, a rice protoplast system to detect target gene activity was established. The MIRNA and GFP-fused target sequence (or GFP-fused mutated sequence as a non-target control) were constructed into the same plasmid, and then delivered into rice protoplasts. The GFP expression level decreased significantly when the protoplasts were transfected with the plasmid containing GFP-fused target compared to that of the plasmid with non-target sequence either by fluorescence microscopy or qRT-PCR method. Two microRNA genes, osaMIR156 and osaMIR397, and their target sequences were used to prove the feasibility of the rice protoplast transient assay system. This method will facilitate large-scale screening of rice miRNA target in vivo, and may be suitable for functional analysis of miRNAs of other monocot plants that might share the evolutionarily conserved small RNA processing system with rice.
