Objective: To investigate the protective effect of shenduqing Granules on chronic renal insufficiency in rats. Methods: The rat model of chronic renal insufficiency was made by feeding 0.75% adenine forage. The blood biochemical indexes, ion concentration in serum of rat was measured and the pathological changes of rat kidney were observed. Results: Shenduqing Granules obviously increased thymus index (TI). The weight of rat kidney in the treatment group was lighter than that of the model group. The kidney histomorphological study showed that Shenduqing Granules obvionsly reduce the pathological changes. The drug crystals were also reduced. Conclusion: Shenduqing Granules has the potential protection against chronic renal insufficiency in rats.

Objective To analyse the CT features of pulmonary echinococcosis and to assess CT value in diagnosing this disease.Methods CT fingings of pulmonary echinococcosis in 35 cases proved pathologically were analyzed retrospectively.Results Pulmonary granulosus echinococcosis was 33 cases including simple hydatid cyst (11 lesions),datugter cyst hydatid (3 lesions),with calcification (1 lesion) ,rupture (11 lesions),merging infection (4 lesions) and rupture into thorax (3 lesions).Pulmonary alveolar echinococcosis was 2 lesions,CT findings apperared as irregular,peripherally scattered more nodules with small vacuoles or calcification and in combination with hepatic alveolar echinococcosis.Conclusion Pulmonary echinococcosis had characteristic features on CT,CT examination can provide more imaging informations for the treatment of pulmonary echinococcosis

OBJECTIVETo investigate the applications of percutaneous screw fixation for the treatment of pelvic fractures and its related surgical considerations.

METHODSFrom June 2010 to June 2012,19 patients with pelvic fractures were treated with percutaneous hollow screws. There were 13 males and 6 females, with an average age of 41 years (ranged from 22 to 58 years). Fractures were caused by traffic accidents in 11 cases, by falling down from high place in 8 cases. Based on the Tile classification, there were 15 cases of Tile C type and 4 case of Tile B type. The indexes such as screw inserting time, intraoperative blood loss, complications, functional recovery and reduction conditions were observed. Fixation methods included sacroiliac screws, cannulated screw fixation of the pubic ramus and cannulated screw fixation of the pubic symphysis separation.

RESULTSAnatomical reduction achieved in 7 cases, satisfactory reduction 11 cases, and unsatisfactory reduction 1 case. Union time of fracture union ranged from 8 to 12 weeks (mean 10 weeks). Wound infection,ununion of fracture and nerve injuries were not found. According to the Majeed standards, 12 patients obtained an excellent results, 6 good and 1 fair.

CONCLUSIONPercutaneous screw fixation for the treatment of pelvic fractures under fluoroscopy has several advantages such as less trauma, less blood loss, fewer rates of complications, reliable fixation and no blood transfusion, which can reconstruct the stability of the pelvic ring, but it needs adequate preoperative preparation and high requirements for the surgeon.

Systems biology is a new field in biology that aims at system-level understanding of biological systems. Based on the remarkable progress from molecular biology, systems biology focuses its research on investigating the biological systems to form their entirety. Considering the trend of TCM modernization and the coherence on the point of holism between systems biology and TCM, a comprehensive way for the research of TCM modernization was referred, which involves a new concept, componentomics.

One hundred and seventeen patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma were treated with radical esophagectomy from January 2011 to June 2011,among whom 63 cases received early enteral nutrition (study group) and 54 received parenteral nutrition (control group).There were no differences in serum levels of albumin (ALB),prealbumin (PAB) and transferrin (TRF) before surgery between two groups.Serum PAB and TRF levels in study group were significant higher than those in control at d8 after surgery(P ＜ 0.05),and also higher than those at d1 after surgery (P ＜ 0.05).There were no differences in immune indexes in two groups before surgery,the IgA and IgM levels were rising at d8 compared those at d1 after surgery.The total lymphocytes,CD3,CD4,CD8 and CD4/CD8 in study group at d8 were significant higher than those in control group and those at d1 after surgery.The study shows that early enteral nutrition can improve nutritional index and immune function,and to promote rapid rehabilitation in esophageal cancer patients after surgery.

Objective To stuay CT findings of adrenal gland trauma(AGT).Methods The CT images of adrenal gland trauma which were found in 1712 patients who had emergency abdominal CT examinations for assessment of blunt force trauma were analyzed restrospectively.Results Among 1712 cases.we identified 29 patients(1.7%)with adrenal gland traumatic lesions.A total of 32 lesions were found.Twenty-six lesions were unilateral(23 right-sided,3 left-sided),and 3 cases were bilateral(6 lesions).Main CT findings were as followed:(1)Adrenal hematomas appeared as discrete round or oval masses expanding the adrenal gland in 22 patients with 25 lesions.The lesions were hyperdense or of homogeneous density in plain scan and did not enhance in three-phase contrast-enhanced dynamic scan.The splayed adrenal limbs around hematoma were enhanced significantly as eurvilinear structures.(2)Mild to moderate uniform swelling of gland was shown in 4 cases.(3)Diffuse irregular hemorrhage obliterating the gland was shown in 3 cases.Contrast extravasation was shown in 1 case,which was active bleeding from the broken adrenal gland proven by operation.Associated CT findings included strand-like hemorrhage of the periadrenal fat and posterior pararenal hemorrhage mimicking thickened diaphragmatic crus.The concurrent injuries of ipsilateral thorax or/and abdomen were found in 25 patients.Conclusion The AGT has typical CT findings.Familiarity with characteristic CT findings of adrenal trauma is essential for the radiologist to avoid misdiagnosis.

Objective To explore the effect of systemic subhypothermia and erythropoietin combined treatment on neonatal hypoxic-ischemic brain damage(HIBD).Methods Sixty-five asphyxiated newborns enrolled in this study were divided randomly into combination group(n=16),hypothermia group(n=24)and conventional group(n=25).Subhypothermia was adepted in hypotheria group as well as conventional therapy.Subhypotheria and erythropoietin were both applied in combination group excepy for conventional therapy.The short-term effect was evaluated by neonatal neurological score as well as neonatal behavioral neurological assessment(NBNA)on postnatal days of 7,14 and 28,and the long-term effect was evaluated by using intellectual development table made by Children's Development Center of China(CDCC)at 3 and 6 month of age.Results The neonatal neurological score in combination group at 24,48,72 and 80 h were lower than that of 0 and 12 h.NBNA evaluation was much higher on 14 d and 28 d in combination group and hypothermia group than that in conventional group(Pa0.05).Conclusions Combination therapy with systemic subhypothermia and erythropoietin exerts obvious short and longer-time neuroprotective effect on HIBD,but there are no differences compared with hypothermia alone.
