Objective To investigate the changes of ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolase-L1 (UCH-L1) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP)in acute phase of cerebral infarction. Methods From March 2011 to June 2012,95 patients with early cerebral infarction from the Neurology Clinic, the Emergency Department and the Cerebral Apoplexy Screening Project Base, and the Neurology Ward of Renhe Hospital were used as an infarction group;61 non-stroke subjects received physical examination in the Physical Examination Center of our hospital in the same period were used as a control group. The cerebral infarction group and the patients with cerebral infarction in different onset of time groups (an onset < 12 h group and an onset 12-24 h group),the different National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)score groups (NIHSS 0 -4 group and NIHSS 5 -19 group),and the levels of UCH-L1 and GFAP in the control group were measured and compared among the groups. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC)curve was established. The cut-off values of the relevant parameters in the diagnosis of cerebral infarction, and the sensitivity and specificity of diagnosis were obtained. Results The UCH-L1 and GFAP values of the cerebral infarction group were all higher than those of the normal control group (0. 13[0. 09,0. 21]μg/ L vs. 0. 05[0. 02,0. 13]μg/ L,0. 030[0. 008,0. 130]μg/ L vs. 0. 004[0. 004,0. 020]μg/ L,Z values were 3. 62 and 4. 95 respectively;all P < 0. 01). The UCH-L1 and GFAP values of the NIHSS score 5 -19 group were higher than those of the NIHSS score 0 -4 group (0. 12[0. 08,0. 21]vs. 0. 09[0. 08,0. 18],0. 07 [0. 01,0. 11]vs. 0. 04[0. 01,0. 10];all P < 0. 05). There was no significant difference in the UCH-L1 and GFAP values between the onset 12 -24 h group and the onset < 12 h group (0. 12[0. 08,0. 21]μg/ L vs. 0. 09[0. 08,0. 18]μg/ L,0. 030[0. 010,0. 110]μg/ L vs. 0. 040[0. 008,0. 100]μg/ L;all P > 0. 05). The analysis results of ROC curve of UCH-L1 and GFAP for diagnosis of acute cerebral infarction showed that when the plasma UCH-L1 was ≥0. 18 μg/ L,the sensitivity and specificity of UCH-L1 were 68% and 74%respectively;When the plasma GFAP was ≥0. 11 μg/ L,the sensitivity and specificity of GFAP were 70% and 86% respectively. The area under the ROC curve of UCH-L1 and GFAP diagnosis of cerebral infarction were 0. 64 and 0. 71 respectively. Conclusions UCH-L1 and GFAP have obvious change in acute phase of cerebral infarction. UCH-L1 and GFAP may have certain correlation with the severity of stroke.

Objective To evaluate the influence of peritoneal transport characteristics on nutritional status of peritoneal dialysis patients and estimate the role of peritoneal transport characteristics and nutritional status in evaluation of peritoneal dialysis adequacy. Methods Peritoneal transport properties (D/Pcr) were evaluated by Short Peritoneal Equilibration Test and then 53 cases were divided into high transport group (D/Pcr ≥0. 65) and low transport group (D/Pcr < 0. 65). Urea kinetics (Kt/v) and total clearance of creatinine (TCcr) were calcu- lated. Serum albumin (ALB), prealbumin, transferring (TF), hemoglobin (Hb), lean body mass (LBM) and LBM% were examined or calculated. Subjective global assessment (SGA) was used to evaluate the nutritional sta- tus of patients. Results There were 30 cases in high transport group and 23 cases in low transport group. D/Pcr (0. 82±0.15 vs. 0. 55±0. 08, P < 0. 01), TCcr (62. 93%±25. 98% vs. 49. 69%±16. 92% , P < 0. 05) and age were significantly higher in high transport group than those in low transport group, while ALB, TF, Hb, LBM% , and SGA were significantly lower than those in low transport group (P < 0.05). ALB was negatively cor-related with Kt/v (r= -0.2708, P<0. 05). Conclusions High peritoneal transport patients have better solute clearance but worse nourishment status compared with low transport ones. Nutritional status is one of the factors to evaluate dialysis adequacy. Nutrition management and guidance should be strengthened for the continuous ambula- tory peritoneal dialysis patients, especially for the elderly ones.

Microbiology 1992;0(06):-
The chromatograms of pyrolysis gas chromatography (PGC) of fifteen strains of Salmonella typhi were reported to see if there is any possible relation of the graphs to serological typing and drug-resistance spectra of the bact. In the fifteen strains there were fourteen clinical strains and one reference strain (Hg01). The results indicated that the clinical strains might be divided into group A and B (7 strains each) by PGC. The graphs drawn from group A organisms were entirely the same in shape while those of group B showed only basic similarity. According to the diversity of graphs of group B organisms, the group B organisms, may be subdivided into group B1 (4 strains), B2 (2 strains) and B3 (1 strain). The graphs within each subgroup were completely the same and those of subgroup B1 exhibited close similarity to that of the reference strain. Albeit no regular connection of chromatograms with serological types and drug-resistance could be seen, the graphs yet provided useful reference for founding a bank of chromatograms, compaed with which salmonella typhi graph could then be identified.

Objective:
To observe the migration of 4,4'-diaminostilbene-2,2'-disulfonc acid-based fluorescent whitening agents ( DSD-FWAs ) in food packaging paper, so as to provide evidence for quality and safety supervision for paper packaging materials.
Methods:
Forty-one paper samples with DSD-FWAs positive were made into 6 cm2 pieces and were soaked in four food simulants ( distilled water, 3% acetic acid, 10% ethanol and 95% ethanol, 10 mL each ). The experiment was carried out at the specified soaking temperature and time. The migration amounts of eleven DSD-FWAs were detected by high performance liquid chromatography-fluorescence detection.
Results:
C.I.220, C.I.24, C.I.210, C.I.85, C.I.113, C.I.264, C.I.353 and C.I.357 were found in all the four food simulants. At the same time and temperature, the migration amount was highest in 10% ethanol, followed by distilled water, 3% acetic acid and 95% ethanol. C.I.220 was dissolved in all four food simulants, in the range of 20-90 ℃, the migration amount increased with soaking temperature; at 20 ℃, 40 ℃ and 60 ℃, the migration amount increased first and then stabilized over time.
Conclusion
The higher the storage temperature and the longer the storage time of paper packaging, the easier the DSD-FWAs in packaging paper migrate to food.

Objective To compare the accuracy of real-time myocardial contrast echocardiography (RT-MCE) with DISA-SPECT in detecting hibernating myocardium. Methods Fourteen hospitalized patients with regional wall motion abnormalities (RWMA) underwent RT-MCE, DISA-SPECT, coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI). Every left ventricular myocardial segment image was acquired and evaluated according 16-segment model of American Society of Echocardiography. The Motion of every segment was observed by echocardiography after 1,3,6 months. The gold standard is that the motion of ventricular segment get better after PCI. The images of RT-MCE and DISA-SPECT were analyzed semi-quantitatively. Results The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy of RT-MCE and DISA-SPECT in detecting hibernating myocardium were 74.60%, 91.7%, 81.3% and 93.3%, 75.0%, 86.2%, respectively. RT-MCE had more value in specificity while DISA-SPECT had more value in sensitivity. The correlation between two methods was good in detecting hibernating myocardium. Conclusions RT-MCE and DISA-SPECT can be used as valuable methods to detect hibernating myocardium, the correlation between two methods is good and they have more value in specificity and sensitivity respectively.
