Objective To investigate the regulation of protein kinase C(PKC) to the expression of β-1,4-galactusyhransferase- Ⅰ ( β-1,4-GalT- Ⅰ ) and the influence on cytoskeleton and adherence ability of human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs) when stimulated by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Methods Cultured HUVECs were pretreated by various PKC inhibitors or phorbol 12-myristate 13-acctate( PMA), an excitomotor of PKC respectively for 30 min, then stimulated by LPS for 4 h. β-1,4-GalT-Ⅰ expression were detected by RT-PCR and Western blot, expression of β-1,4-galactosylated carbohydrate chains and cytoskeleton were assayed by immumofluorescence, and adherence ability of HUVECs was observed by endothelialmonocyte cell adherence test. Results Up-regulated expression of β-1,4-GalT- Ⅰ and β-1,4-galactosylated carbohydrate chains in HUVECs stimulated by LPS were suppressed by PKC inhibitors and increased by PMA. F-actin and β-1,4-GalT- Ⅰ were partly co-localized in HUVECs. PKC inhibitor inhibited the effect of LPS on the distribution of F-actin and β-1,4-GalT- Ⅰ. Adherence ability of HUVECs enhanced by LPS was significantly suppressed by PKC inhibitor. Conclusion PKC signal transduction pathway may participate in regulating β-1,4-GalT-Ⅰ expression in endothelial cells stimulated by LPS. Furthermore, polytypes of PKC may participate in this regulating process; PKC might regulate cytoskeleton reorganization and adherence ability of EC through β-1,4-GalT-Ⅰ during inflammation.

PURPOSE: There has been little research regarding the effectiveness of oseltamivir for influenza B infections. We sought to identify the different clinical manifestations between patients treated with and without oseltamivir. METHODS: We retrospectively studied the medical records of 72 inpatients or outpatients from two medical centers diagnosed with influenza B infections by either a rapid antigen test or multiplex reverse transcriptase PCR between January 2012 and July 2012. We compared gender, age, past medical history, admission period, total fever duration, fever duration after hospitalization, post-oseltamivir medication peak temperature, laboratory test, chest X-ray, antibiotic medication, and the presence of concomitant viral or bacterial infections. RESULTS: The number of subjects in our study was 72 who were diagnosed with influenza B pneumonia, acute bronchitis, acute bronchiolitis, croup, and mean age was 3.6+/-2.8 year old. The demographic characteristics and clinical manifestations of oseltamivir and the non-oseltamivir groups, including hospitalization period (4.18+/-2.10 vs 4.79+/-1.49 days, P=.17) and total fever duration (5.32+/-2.07 vs 6.41+/-3.25 days, P=.09), demonstrated no significant differences. Notably, the oseltamivir group did have significantly reduced usage of antibiotic treatment than the non-oseltamivir group (P=.04). When we limited our patient group to patients under the age of three, similar results were seen. The group prescribed oseltamivir within 48 hours of fever onset had less antibiotic usage, in addition to a shorter fever duration. CONCLUSION: Oseltamivir appeared to have no benefit in improving the clinical course. However, if it is prescribed within the first 48 hours of symptoms, it may be more effective.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2012;20(6):1478-1481
This study was aimed to explore the molecular mechanism of RhDel phenotype expression in blood donors of Chinese Harbin area. Three hundred and seventy-four RhD negative donors confirmed by indirect antiglobulin test were detected by using serological and molecular methods for red blood cell RhD blood group genotyping and RH gene variant detection. And the other special samples of undetermined RhD genotype were sequenced. The results showed that 62 cases of Del type were detected in 374 negative blood donors' samples, accounting for 16.6%, among them there were 61 cases of RHD1227A, and 1 case of rare RHD Del (cde) 1 allele was found. Sequencing analysis indicated that RHD711DelC allele existed in 11 cases. In addition, the new mutant alleles were found in 3 samples. It is concluded that RHD1227A allele is generally carried allele in Del phenotype population of Chinese Harbin area and is an important genetic marker in Del phenotype individual.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2011;29(9):793-798
BackgroundThe quest to look for seed cells is a hot spot of cornea transplant research in solving the problem of the lack of donor. Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs) have been successfully induced into retinal ganglion cells(RGCs) in vivo, but the successful induction of BMSCs into corneal endothelial cells has not been reported. Objective This experiment was to study the transplantation of BMSCs on corneal endothelial surface using the splitting Descemet's membrane. MethodsFour healthy adult rhesus monkeys were divided into the experimental group ( 3 monkeys) and control group ( 1 monkey). Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) were isolated from bone marrow by density gradient centrifugation combined with adhering means. The cultured cells were identified by flow cytometry and its ability to differentiate was determined by allowing them to differentiate into adipocytes in vitro and labeled by 5-bromodeoxyuridine ( BrdU ) for subsequent identification. Corneal grafts of 7 mm in size with tearing of the Descemet' s membrane were prepared in the experimental group and control group. After labeling by 5-bromodeoxyuridine( BrdU ) ,cultured cells were transplanted onto the endothelial surface of cornea grafts in the experimental group, but no cultured cells were seeded in the graft of the control group. The corneal grafts were then sutured in situ, and were removed 1,2 or 3 months after operation to examine the distribution and connection between transplanted cells and their morphologic changes under the electron microscope. Results High purity MSCs were harvested by density gradient centrifugation combined with adhering method. Cultured cells reached confluency after 12 to 16 days, presenting with a spindle shape and parallel or swirling arrangement. Flow cytometry analysis showed that 94.26% of cells were positive for CD29,7. 51% for CD34 and 4. 02% for CD45. Larger nuclei filled with plastosomes, golgiosomes and rough endoplasmic reticula were found on the graft under the transmission electron microscope( TEM ). After 3 weeks, MSCs were differentiated into adipocytes where Oil Red O staining resulted in an orange-red staining in the cytoplasm and blue staining in the nuclei. The transplanted cells attached loosely on the endothelial surface of the corneal graft and came in contact with each other in one month. The shape of the cells appeared as spindle-shaped and polygonal after 2 months and became tightly packed after 3 months. The positive cells retained the BrdU label and presented with brown nuclei. No endothelia cells grew in the cornea graft in the control group, with an absence of BrdU labeling. Conclusions Mesenchymal stem cells can be transplanted onto the corneal endothelial surface successfully and form a monolayer using the centrifugation method, and present with good survival and proliferation ability.

Background:
F-18 Fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (F-18 FDG PET), which can cover the body from the skull base to the thigh in one scan, is beneficial for evaluating distant metastasis. F-18 FDG PET has interested policymakers because of its relatively high cost. This study investigated the effect of the F-18 FDG PET reimbursement criteria amendment on healthcare behavior in breast cancer using an interrupted time series (ITS) analysis.
Methods:
We retrospectively analyzed the inpatient and outpatient data from Korea’s Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2018. ITS analysis was performed for the number of each medical imaging modality and the total medical imaging cost of the breast cancer patients.
Results:
The annual number of breast cancer patients has been increasing steadily since 2013. The trend of F-18 FDG PET increased before the reimbursement criteria was amended, but intensely decreased immediately thereafter. The chest and abdomen computed tomography scans showed a statistically significant increase immediately after the amendment and kept steadily increasing. A change in the total medical imaging cost for the breast cancer patient claimed every month showed an increasing trend before the amendment (β = 5,475, standard error [SE] = 1,992, P = 0.008) and rapid change immediately after (β = −103,317, SE = 16,152, P < 0.001). However, there was no significant change in the total medical imaging cost at the long-term follow-up (β = −912, SE = 1,981, P = 0.647).
Conclusion
Restriction of health insurance coverage for cancer may affect healthcare behaviors. To compensate for it, the policymakers must consider this and anticipate the impact following implementation.

Journal of the Korean Society of Neonatology 2008;15(2):207-211
Congenital syphilis is a rare cause of non-immune hydrops fetalis. We cared for a neonate with hydrops fetalis who was delivered by emergency Cesarean section due to prolonged fetal bradycardia and ascites at 34 weeks of gestation. He had anemia, purpura, and hepatosplenomegaly, and the serologic tests revealed congenital syphilis (high titers of serum VDRL and TPHA, and a positive serum FTA-ABS IgM). He survived after aspiration of ascitic fluid, ventilator care, and intravenous penicillin therapy. We report a case of non-immune hydrops fetalis due to congenital syphilis with a brief review of literature.
