Objective To analyze the type of acid-base disturbance caused by severe pneumonia in newborn infants .Methods Venous blood of neonate with severe pneumonia(SP group) were collected to detect serum electrolyte and blood gas analysis 12 hours before and after oxygen therapy .The results of serum electrolyte and blood gas were compared 12 hours before and after oxygen therapy ,and the results of acid-base disturbance between SP group and control groups were compared. Results There were mostly metabolic acidosis incorporated respiratory acidosis in all neonate in SP group, which were with increased anion gap (AG) and obviously higher than that of control group(t=1.27 P

The pathogenesis of heart failure is a complex progression and associated with abnormal regulation of many signaling pathways. As a cofactor of hemoglobin, myoglobin, oxidative respiratory chain, DNA synthase and other important proteins, iron plays an indispensable role in myocardial energy metabolism. Recently, a large number of studies have shown that heart failure is related to the disorder of iron metabolism. Both iron deficiency and iron overload can lead to the development of a variety of cardiomyopathy, and even progress to heart failure. Iron metabolism could be a key target for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of heart failure. Here, we review the basic process of iron metabolism and its mechanism in heart failure, expecting to provide new clues and evidence for the treatment of heart failure.

Objective To study the oxidative stress and apoptosis relative protein expression in rat striatum during the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD) induced by 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA). Methods 6-OHDA was stereotacticly injected into the right striatum of the rats at two sites to produce PD models. Activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), contents of reduced glutathione (GSH) and malondialdehyde (MDA) in the injured and normal striatum were measured using assay kits; and levels of Bax and Bcl-2 were detected by Western blotting in injured striatum. Results In 10 successful PD rats, compared with either the sham group or the normal group, activities of SOD and GSH-Px and contents of GSH in the right striatum significantly decreased while contents of MDA increased obviously (P<0.05); And levels of Bax significantly increased while expression of Bcl-2 obviously decreased. Conclusion Oxidative stress plays a key role in the pathogenesis of PD. Furthermore, Bax and Bcl-2 were involved in the regulation of apoptosis under oxidative stress induced by 6-OHDA.

Objective To investigate the effect of hyperthermia and mild hypothermia on permeability of blood-brain barrier(BBB),activity of matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9)and expression of laminin in rats with severe traumatic brain injury(TBI)so as to explore the mechanism of hyperthermia and mild hypothermia affecting permeability of BBB. Methods A total of 72 healthy adult SpragueDawley rats were randomly divided into four groups,ie,sham operation group(SO group),TBI group, hyperthermia group(HT group)and mild hypothermia group(MH group). The rats were sacrificed at 24hours and the samples of injured brain tissues collected to detect the content of Evans blue(EB),activity of MMP-9 and expression of laminin. Results The content of EB and activity of MMP-9 in HT group were more significantly increased compared with those in TBI group(P<0.05),while the expression of laminin in HT group Was more significantly decreased than that in TBI group(P<0.05).However,the content of EB and activity of MMP-9 in MH group were significantly lower than those in TBI group(P<0.05),while the expression of laminin in MH group was significantly higher than that in TBI group(P<0.05). Conclusions The high activity of MMP-9 can.degrade laminin and increase permeability of BBB after TBI.After TBI,hyperthermia can increase permeability of BBB while mild hypothermia does on the contrary, which may be related to their different roles in changing activity of MMP-9.
