It is generally accepted that locomotion in mammals, including humans, is based on the activity of neuronal circuits within the spinal cord (the central pattern generator, CPG). Recent studies indicate a plastic behavior of the spinal neuronal circuits following a spinal cord injuries (SCI). Studies have shown that body weight support treadmill training (BWSTT) is effective in restoring locomotor function in cats with a complete spinal lesion. It has become possible to regain some locomotor activity in patients with spinal cord injury through an intense training on BWSTT, as in cat. So, it is a staired problem how to take advantage of the plasticity of spinal locomotor pattern generator and design the gait training program for SCI patients.

Objective To observe the influence of technetium [99Tc] methylenedipho-honate (99Tc-MDP) on osteoclastogenesis induced by receptor activator of NF-κB ligand (RANKL) and macrophage-colony stimulating factor (M-CSF)in peripheral blood mononuclear cells in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, and to study the mechanism of 99Tc-MDP in osteoclast differentiation. Methods The monocytes/macrophages were isolated from peripheral blood in patients with rheumatoid arthri-tis, incubated in RPMI-1640 with receptor activator of NF-κB ligand (RANKL, 25 μg/L), macro-phage-colony stimulating factor (M-CSF, 25μg/L ) and different concentrations of 99Tc-MDP (5, 10, 20,and 50 mg/L) for 4,12, and 20 days. Tartrate resistant acid phosphatase staining was used to observe the formation of osteoclasts. Results After 12 or 16 days culture of peripheral blood mononuclear cells, plenty of large nultinuclear cells could be found on the coverslips. 99Tc-MDP markedly inhibited those changes and the inhibitory effects were increased as the concentration of 99Tc-MDP increased (P<0.05). Conclusion 99Tc-MDP probably has some protective effect on rheumatoid arthritis by inhibiting osteoclast formation.

Objective To study the current status of antibiotic usage in Southwest hospital, so as to improve the rationality in applying antibiotic. Methods A total of 1 668 patients in Southwest hospital during Jan 1 to Dec 30, 2003 were investigated in antibiotic usage and the data were sorted and analyzed. Results Antibiotics were administered in 1 247 cases (74.76%), including only 76 cases (6.09%) based on susceptibility test, 39 cases (3.12%) occurred hospital infection. 297 cases (23.81%) abused antibiotics, among which 131 cases (38.04%) were without definite symptoms or with weak signs, 93 cases (31.31%) used more than two kinds of antibiotics, 24 cases (8.08%) frequently changed antibiotic in the treatment, 27 cases (9.09%) inappropriately prolonged administration and 22 cases (7.40%) improperly combined the same antibiotics. Conclusion Irrational utilization of antibiotics exits in clinical work. Therefore, the rational use of antibiotic based on susceptibility tests should be emphasized.

Relative to the remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC),RIP has more value in clinical application. However,RIP is still in the cognitive stage of research. Objective:To analyze the immunocontraceptive efficacy of CZP3 DNA vaccine by electric pulse stimulating and the correlation between antibody level and antifertility. Methods: The mice were immunized with 5, 10, 20 and 50 μg DNA vaccine pcDNA3. 0-CZP3 respectively and were stimulated at leg muscle by electric pulse. Detect the antibody level of each mice group and the highest antibody titer by ELISA. After mated with male mice for three weeks,calculated infertility rate of mice,the average litter size of each immune group and did statistical analysis. Results:Compared with the intramuscular injection alone,the electric pulse stimulation could increase serum antibody titers of mice significantly, the antibody titer of 50 μg group which was stimulated by electric pulse reached 1∶4 000. Moreover,the infertility of the mice increased and the mice average litter size reduced along with the increase of CZP3 antibody level significantly. Statistical analysis showed that the antibody level and the average litter size had a negative correlation. Conclusion:The electric pulse stimulation can improve the immune level and reduce the fertility efficiency of mice significantly,therefore establishes a foundation for further application of CZP3 DNA vaccine in stray dog contraception.

Objective To investigate the correlation between p21-actived kinase 1(PAK1) gene polymorphism and prognosis of endocrine therapy for breast cancer. Methods Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism was employed to analyze the genotype of PAK1 gene rs2298793 T→C polymorphism and rs2844327 C→T polymorphism of 105 patients with breast cancer accepting endocrine therapy. Prognostic factors such as age, state of menses, magnitude of tumor, pathological type, condition of operation, clinical stage, estrogen receptor, progesteron receptor, Her-2 and endocrine therapy drug were comprehensively considered, and Cox model was employed to analyze the relation of PAK1 genotype with the time-to-tumor progression (TTP).
