Objective To analyze behavior of having multiple sexual partners among outside school adolescents and the impact factors in one county.Method Participatory method was adopted in the survey,trainees of an occupational training center were trained to investigate their peers with anonymous questionnaires.Results The subjects who had more than 3 sexual partners accounted for 38.3%,and the factors related to multiple sexual partners were complicated.The most im- portant protective factor was to raise level of HIV/AIDS related knowledge (OR=0.85);the key risk factors were: promiscuous behaviors (OR=4.91) and prostitution(OR=3.37) among their friends.Conclusion For reducing behav- ior of having multiple sexual partners among outside school adolescents,it is essential to promote HIV/AIDS related health education and to enhance their ability to respond to pressures from their bad peers.

Objective To evaluate usefulness of high-resolution MRI in quantitative analysis of femoral micro-structure.Methods This study included 110 cases which were divided into 4 groups according to the results of DXA.High-resolution MRI of left hip joint wasperformed on a 1.5T super-conductive MR scanner.3 ROIs were selected on the largest oblique-coronal images of femur to gain thebinary images derived from software processing and 30 parameters were analyzed.Results The parameters to be of statistical significance were 77% and 67%,respectively.Full points of structural parameters with significant difference were 6,4~6 points were 60% and 2~3 points were 40%.Trabecula connective parameters such as trabecula area,mean framework length and mean trabecula perimeter had positive correlation with bone density,r=0.547～0.722,0.58～0.654 and 0.573～0.688,P

Objective To explore whether chronic forced swimming stress could improve whole brain radiation induced cognitive dysfunction and possible mechanism. Methods Thirty-nine one month old male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized into sham control group ( C ) , swimming group ( C-S ) , radiation group( R) , and radiation plus swimming group( R-S) . Radiation groups were given a single dose of 20 Gy on whole-brain. Rats in the swimming groups were trained with swimming of 15 min/d, 5 d/w. Rat behavior was performed 3 months after radiation in an order of free activity in an open field and the Morris water maze test including the place navigation and spatial probe tests. Then, the protein expressions of BDNF, P-ERK, T-ERK, P-CREB and T-CREB in the rat hippocampus tissue were assayed by Western blot. Results On the day 2, in the place navigation test of Morris water maze, the latency of swimming group was significantly shorter than that of sham group, the latency of sham group was significantly shorter than that of radiation group, and the latency of radiation swimming group was significantly shorter than that of radiation group(P<0?05). In the open field test, the latencies of the place navigation and spatial probe tests of Morris water maze had no significant difference among four groups (P>0?05). Western blot assay showed that the expressions of BDNF and its downstream signals including P-ERK and P-CREB were markedly reduced by radiation ( P < 0?05 ) , but this reduction was attenuated by the chronic forced swimming stress. Conclusion The chronic forced swimming stress could improve whole brain radiation induced cognitive dysfunction by up-regulating the expressions of BDNF and its downstream signal molecules of P-ERK and P-CREB in hippocampus.

Objective To investigate the influence of perioperative administration of Ambroxol on pulmonary function, postoperative complications, postoperative hospital-stay and cost in elderly lung cancer patients after thoracic lobectomy surgery.Methods One hundred and forty consecutive elderly patients who underwent thoracic lobectomy surgery for lung cancer were randomly assigned into 2 groups: control group (n=70) and Ambroxol group (n=70).In control group, subjects were given the standardized treatment.In the Ambroxol group, patients were given the standardized treatment plus Ambroxol (90 mg/q, 8 h/d) from the day of operation to postoperative 5 days.The preoperative general information, intraoperative conditions, pulmonary function tests, arterial blood gases, incidence of perioperative morbidity, duration of ICU stay, length and costs of postoperative hospital-stay were collected and compared between the 2 groups.Results The 2 groups were well matched for demographics and operative variables.The forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1),the forced vital capacity (FVC), peak expiratory flow rate (PEF) and arterial oxygen pressure were reduced in the 2 groups after operation as compared with before treatment, while the decreases of the above indexes were more significant in the control group than in the Ambroxol group (P＜0.05).Compared with the control group, the postoperative pulmonary complications declined, oxygenation index improved, the postoperative ICU occupancy rate and the length and costs of postoperative hospital-stay were decreased in the ambroxol group (all P＜ 0.05).Conclusions Perioperative administration of Ambroxol could reduce the incidence of pulmonary complications, improve the lung function, decrease the total hospitalization cost, shorten the length of hospital-stay, promote a rapid recovery after surgery, which is worthy of clinical application.

Background and purpose:Microsatellite instability (MSI) status is commonly applied to predict the prognosis and chemosensitivity in stage Ⅱ and stage Ⅲ colorectal cancer patients. However, researches of its function on metastasis colorectal cancer are limited. This study investigated its value on prognosis and chemosensitivity in metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC) patients.Methods:We retrospectively investigated tumor tissues from metastasis CRC patients who were treated with oxaliplatin and 5-FU-based therapy regimens (FOLFOX and XELOX). Immunostaining of proteins of the mismatch repair genehMLH1,hMSH2,hMSH6 andhPMS2 was performed. Prognostic value and chemosensitivity in patients with MSI status were also determined.Results:Clinical features from 113 patients were analyzed. No cor-relation of overall survival (OS) and chemosensitivity with MSI status was found. We further investigated 79 patients with synchronous metastasis and palliatively tumor resection. Median progression free survival (PFS) from 22 MSI patients was significant longer than that in 57 MSS patients (19.9 monthsvs 7 months,P=0.005). No significant difference was seen in OS comparison (P=0.07). MSI status was also an independent prognostic factors of PFS by Cox multivariate analysis (MSS/MSI,HR=2.079,P=0.043). Moreover, in this group, MSI patients had improved disease control rate (59.1%vs 31.6%, P=0.025) in chemosensitivity analysis than MSS patients.Conclusion:A better PFS in MSI patients with synchronous metastasis and palliative tumor resection was found after treated with oxaliplatin and 5-FU-based therapy and a better chemosensitivity in MSI patients was also found.

Objective To investigate the expression of CENP-W in gliomas and its relationship with clinicopathological parameters and prognosis and to explore the effects of centromere protein W (CENP-W)on the invasion of gliomas cells.Methods The expressions of CENP-W in high-grade glioma tissues,low-grade glioma tissues,and adjacent brain tissues were detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR and Western blotting. The correlation of the expression of CENP-W with clinicopathological parameters and prognosis was analyzed statistically.Human gliomas U2 5 1 cells in vitro were transfected with small interfering RNA to downregulate the expression of CENP-W.The invasion and migration capabilities of gliomas cancer cells were assessed by Transwell assays.Results The expression level of CENP-W was significantly higher in glioma tissues than in normal tissues. There was a positive correlation between the three protein expression levels and the pathological grade of gliomas. CENP-W siRNA was successfully transfected into U2 5 1 cells.Compared with those of the cells transfected with the scramble siRNA and control cells,the invasive and migration activities were inhibited in the U2 5 1 cells transfected with CENP-W siRNA.The Kaplan-Meier analysis and Log-Rank test showed significant differences in progress free survival (PFS)between the CENP-W high-expression and low-expression groups.Conclusion The expression level of CENP-W was positively correlated with the pathological grade of gliomas and CENP-W can promote glioma cell invasion.It implicates that CENP-W can be a novel target in gliomas treatment.

Objective To explore the changes and the tendency of breast cancer radiotherapy in China within the past decade.Methods A survey on breast cancer radiotherapy in 1 999 and 2006 was conducted in 4 hospitals located within the southeast coastal region of China,including patients'clinical characteristics,the purpose of radiotherapy and its techniques.Results The percentage of breast conservative treatment(BCT)increased from 3%in 1999 to 13%in 2006.For radiotherapy techniques in 2006 compared with 1999,the growth trend was found in use of breast immobilization devices(80% vs.46%),treatment planning system(70% vs.23%),and CT simulation(14%vs.0).The frequency was increased in the chest wall irradiation after masteetomy(90%vs.67%),but decreased in internal mammary region(30%vs.76%)and axilla(37%vs.69%)treatment.There were no differences in total dose and fractionation prescription.Conclusions BCT was performed more frequently,but postmastectomy radiotherapy was still essential option in China at present.Although some advanced techniques were applied frequently in clinical practice.Simulation,treatment planning,and irradiation target design were urgent for improvement and standardization.

Objective To explore the expressions and correlation of RWD containing sumoylation enhancer (RSUME),small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO-1),hypoxia inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α)and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)in gliomas of different pathologic grade.Methods We investigated the expression levels of RSUME mRNA,HIF-1α mRNA and VEGF mRNA with reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR),and investigated the immunohistochemical staining to determine the expressions of SUMO-1,HIF-1α and VEGF in 63 cases of human gliomas of different pathologic grade and 9 cases of normal brain tissues.We studied its correlation with the pathologic grade and the relationship between the expression of RSUME promoter sumoylation and HIF-1α/VEGF pathway in gliomas.Results There were significant differences (P <0.01)in the expressions of RSUME mRNA,HIF-1αmRNA and VEGF mRNA in glioma tissues.With the increasing degree of pathologic grade in tumor specimens,the expression levels of RSUME mRNA,HIF-1α mRNA and VEGF mRNA increased markedly (P <0.01 ).There was a positive correlation of the expression levels of RSUME mRNA with HIF-1αmRNA and VEGF mRNA.There were significant differences (P <0.01 )in the expressions of SUMO-1,HIF-1αand VEGF in glioma tissues by immunohistochemical staining.With the ascending of pathologic grade of tumor specimens,the expression levels of SUMO-1,HIF-1α and VEGF increased markedly (P < 0.01 ).There was a positive correlation between the expression level of SUMO-1 and HIF-1α(r =0.857,P <0.01).The Kaplan-Meier analysis and Log-rank test showed significant differences in progress free survival (PFS)between the RSUME high-expression and low-expression groups (χ2 =36.032,P <0.01).Conclusion RSUME may enhance HIF-1α/VEGF pathway through sumoylation in gliomas.It implicates that RSUME is related to angiogenesis in gliomas and can promote tumor invasion and progression,indicating that RSUME can be a novel target in gliomas treatment.
