Objective To analyze changes of three periodical circulation systems, erythrocyte sedimentation rate and bone marrow cell morphology in children with malaria. Methods The routine tests of hematology by Sysmex KX-21 Counter, erythrocyte sedimentation rate by Westergren method and bone marrow cell morphology were analyzed. Results In 22 cases of malaria the ratio of Hb level below 110 g/L,WBC below 4?10~9/L and PLT below 100?10~9/L was 68.2%, 41.0%, and 77.3%,respectively. The ratio of children with all three parameters (Hb, WBC and PLT) abnormal was 36.4%, with two parameters abnormal was 63.6%. Ninty-five point five percent of malaria children′s erythrocyte sedimentation rate was abnormal. Fifty-nine point one percent of malaria children had hyperplasia anemia bone marrow morphology, 77.3% secondary thrombocytopenia and 54.5% with both of two bone marrow morphology. Conclusions Three periodical circulation systems of malaria children alter notably, especially in PLT and Hb. The majority has erythrocyte sedimentation rate abnormal, and bone marrow cell morphology shows hyperplasia anemia and thrombocytopenia.

Objective To explore the expression and clinical significance of microRNA (miR)-155 and miR -222 in plasma of patients with ventricular septal defect(VSD),and to analyze the possible mechanism. Methods A total of 20 children with VSD who received treatment at the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery from August 2012 to June 2013 were enrolled (the VSD group)and 15 patients with fracture (the control group). The plasma miR -155 and miR -222 expression levels were measured by real -time quantitative reverse transcription -polymerase chain reaction (RT -qPCR).The potential target genes of miR -155 and miR -222 were predicted by using 3 current-ly available prediction programs, including TargetScan, mirbase and Miranda, and the signaling pathway of miRNA was predicted by Pathway -express analysis. Results Compared with the control group, the expression levels of miR -155 (P =0.033)and miR -222(P <0.001)in the VSD group decreased significantly;miR -155 and miR -222 predic-ted target genes included 74 and 50,respectively.The Pathway -express analysis indicated that 7 signaling pathways played important roles in the occurrence of fetal VSD,including signaling pathways for heart development, such as:mito-gen -activated protein kinase(MAPK)signaling pathway. Conclusions The expression levels of plasma miR -155 and miR -222 in VSD were significantly decreased. The target genes were related to signaling pathways for heart deve-lopment (MAPK signaling pathway),which indicates that miR -155 and miR -222 may be involved in the pathological process of VSD,and may serve as an independent evaluation indicator for the diagnosis of VSD.

To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of tripterygium glycosides (TG) combined with ACEI/ARB preparation in treating diabetic nephropathy stage IV. The computer retrievals were made in Cochrane Libarary, PubMed, Embase, SCI, Sinnomed, CNKI, Chinainfo and VIP, and hand retrievals were conducted for meeting and academic papers (updated to December 30, 2014), in order to collect randomized controlled trials and quasi-randomized control trials for TG combined with ACEI/ARB preparation in treating diabetic nephropathy stage IV and set the literature inclusion and elimination standards. Eligible literatures were included and evaluated according to standards in Cochrane Handbook. RevMan 5.3 and Stata 12.0 were used for a Meta-analysis. A total of 13 randomized controlled trials and quasi-randomized control trials involving 1119 patients with diabetic nephropathy were included. The Meta analysis result showed that compared with the control group, the combination group showed better effects in reducing the 24-hour urinary protein [MD = -0.84, 95% CI (-1.02, -0.66)], raising albumin [SMD = 0.98, 95% CI (0.81, 1.16)], the total efficiency [OR = 4.23, 95% CI (2.77, 6.46)] and the significant efficiency [OR = 5.35, 95% CI (2.70, 10.60)], with no statistical difference in Serum Creatinine between Both groups [MD = -0.82, 95% CI (-4.30, 2.66), P = 0.64]. However, the risk of adverse reactions increased by 7% [RD = 0.07, 95% CI (0.03, 0.12)]. The Egger's test showed no publication bias. Tripterygium Glycosides combined with ACEI/ARB in treating diabetic nephropathy stage IV is supper than the single administration of ACEI/ARB, with a good prospect in clinical application. Nevertheless, due to the small-size and low-quality samples in this study, more high-quality and large sample-size randomized controlled trials shall be conducted to verify the findings.

[ Objective] To explore the variation features of contrast enhanced ultrasound ( CEUS) quantitative parameters and its correlation with tumor microvessel density ( MVD ) , after the treatment of living liver cancer using high intensity focused ultrasound ( HIFU ) . [ Methods ] A group of 30 New Zealand white rabbits were made into VX2 liver cancer models, that were randomly divided into control group ( n =15, not HIFU treatment) and treatment group ( n =15, HIFU treatment).CEUS was performed, then obtaining ascending slope(AS),arrival time(AT),time-to-peak(TTP),peak intensity ( PI) ,area under curve ( AUC ) .And correlation analysis was performed with MVD obtained by immune histochemical method. [ Results ] Compared with those in the control group, AS, PI, AUC were significantly decreased in treatment group (P <0.05) and so was MVD (P <0.05).AT,TTP were significantly delayed than those in the control group (P<0.05).The AS, PI, AUC of CEUS quantitative parameters were positively correlated with MVD (P<0.05).The AT, TTP respectively showed a negative correlation with MVD ( P<0.05) . [ Conclusion] CEUS quantitative parameters of liver cancer tissue have high correlation with MVD.It can reflect the microvessel structure change of the liver cancer tissue and help to judge the curative effect and prognosis of HIFU for liver cancer.

Schmallenberg virus (SBV), a novel orthobunyavirus, was first isolated in 2011. SBV preferentially infects the central nervous system of cattle and sheep and causes fever, diarrhea, a drop in milk yields, congenital malformations and stillbirths. Until June 2014, more than 200 scientific publications regarding SBV have been published. Although more than 20 articles on SVB were published in China, most of these articles provided only a brief introduction of the disease without fully discussing the associated disease characteristics. As a new disease, it has been made a focus of the National Research Center for Exotic Animal Diseases at the China Animal Health and Epidemiology Center. In this review, in order to provide a reference for research into SBV in China, we have reviewed the state of current research progress on the etiology, diagnosis and epidemiology of SBV, and vaccine development.

Journal of Zhejiang University. Medical sciences 2008;37(4):351-356
OBJECTIVETo investigate the immunoregulatory effects of pertussis protein on airway inflammatory, IFN-gamma/IL-4 ratio in bronchoalveolar lavage fluids(BALF) and airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR) in the sensitized mice.
METHODSThe sensitized mice were reexposed to ovalbumin and the airway response to methacholine injection was monitored. Inflammatory cells and cytokines IFN-gamma/IL-4 ratio in BALF were measured. Lung tissue specimens were collected for histological examination.
RESULTIntramuscular injection or intranasal instillation of pertussis protein inhibited changes in lung resistance and lung dynamic compliance, upregulated IFN-gamma/IL-4 ratio and decreased eosinophil accumulation in a dose-dependent manner. Pathological examination showed that goblet cell hyperplasia and inflammatory cells infiltration in lung tissue were suppressed by pertussis protein.
CONCLUSIONPertussis protein inhibits the inflammation and regulates the function of lungs in asthma mice, suggesting its potential application in treatment of asthma.

OBJECTIVETo compare proximal femoral resection with transverse subtrochanteric osteotomy in the treatment of Crowe's IV congenital dislocated hip (CDH) with total hip arthroplasty (THA).
METHODSThirty-six primary hip arthroplasties were performed in patients with Crowe grade IV CDH from April 2003 to October 2007. These patients were divided into two groups, one for proximal femoral resection (n = 20) and another for subtrochanteric osteotomy (n = 16). The leg length discrepancy, rotation center height and Harris score were measured pre- and post-operation to compare the two methods of osteotomy.
RESULTSAll surgeries were successfully performed. The average leg discrepancy was 0.6 cm (range from 0 to 1.5 cm) for subtrochanteric osteotomy group and 0.3 cm (range from -1.0 to 1.5 cm) for proximal femoral resection group, there was no significant difference between them (P > 0.05). There were also no statistically significant difference between the two groups in other index. The complication rates were much higher in the proximal femoral resection group. At the latest follow up, the Harris score of subtrochanteric osteotomy group was 90 +/- 6, and the proximal femoral resection group was 83 +/- 8. There was statistical difference between the two groups (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSAlthough both the femoral shortening techniques can restore the leg length of Crowe IV CDH, the subtrochanteric osteotomy technique has advantage of avoiding the potential complications in the high riding patients (high dislocation > 4 cm).

Objective To investigate effectiveness of meta-cognitive intervention on aged people with middle depression. Methods Geriatrist Depression Scale(GDS) and Hamilton's Depression Scale ( HAMD-17 ) were used to screen out 70 aged people with middle depression from 850 retired soldier cadres dwelling in cpla dalian sanitarium. They were randomly divided into study group( n = 35 ) and control group( n = 35 ). The experimental group received meta-cognitive intervening and general nursing care for 8 weeks, while the control group only received general nursing care for 8 weeks. HAMD-17, GDS, global assessment scale(GAS) and the Metacognitions Questionnaire(MCQ-30) were administered both at the start and the end of the 8th week. Results The total scores in HAMD and GDS were decreased significantly in study group ( HAMD: ( 1 1.54 ± 2.50 ) vs ( 13.06 ±2.82),t= -2.378, P=0. 020;GDS:(12.51 ±2.43) vs (16.06 ±2.48), t= -6. 031, P=0. 000;GAS:(77.71 ±3.03) vs (75.63 ± 3.24), t = 2. 785, P = 0. 007 ). At the end of 8th week, the MCQ total score was significantly decreased in study group (38.69 ± 4. 17,81.37 ± 5.98, t = 34. 652, P < 0. 01 ). Conclusion For aged people with middle depression, good effects are got by the meta-cognitive intervening technique and meta-cognitive intervening technique improve the meta-cognitive level of aged people with middle depressive mood.
