ObjectiveTo investigate the features of pulmonary function and influencing factors in patients with cervical spinal cord injury (SCI).MethodsThe pulmonary function data of 48 patients with cervical SCI were analyzed. The correlations between the percent predicted values of vital capacity (VC), maximal voluntary ventilation (MVV), forced expiratory volume of 1st second (FEV1) and V75 (expressed as VC%, MVV%, FEV1%, V75%) and ASIA motor/sensory scores were analyzed. Then, four multiple linear regressions were run to use VC, MVV, FEV1, V75 as an independent variable respectively.ResultsThe percent predicted values of the pulmonary function (VC%, MVV%, FEV1%, V75%) in patients with cervical SCI obviously decreased, which suggested that these patients had a restrictive ventilation disorder. There were significant positive correlations between VC%、FEV1%、V75% and ASIA motor scores (by bivariate correlation tests), no significant correlations between any of pulmonary function parameters and the ASIA sensory scores. Of four linear regression models, the height showed as a protecting factor in 3 linear regression models and weight did in the other one respectively. Of parameters associated with SCI, just ASIA motor scores showed as a protecting factor in 3 linear regression models, no sensory scores or duration appeared in any linear regression models.ConclusionBesides the height and weight, the ASIA motor score is a main factor influencing the pulmonary function.

Objective:To investigate the role of clinical pharmacists in the process of chemotherapy for a patient with intracranial glioma. Methods:Usage and dosage of antitumor drugs, drug interactions, adverse drug reactions and medication education after dis-charged as the breakthrough points, clinical pharmacists and clinicians explored options for the patient treatment and adjusted the medi-cation timely according to the condition. Results:There were no serious adverse drug reactions in the adjusted therapeutic regimen and the treatment results of the patient were satisfactory. Conclusion:Clinical pharmacists provide pharmaceutical care can play an impor-tant role in improving the safety and effectiveness of drug use.

Objective　According to Kaschin-Beck Disea se monitory standardization that had been adjusted by our country,we monitored the state of Kaschin-Beck Disease in Gansu province.Methods　So as to understand change of illness,we took methods of epidemiological investigation,clinical examination and X-ray diagnosis.Results　It is not detected in the clinical that patient suffered from more than I of KBD among 7～12 years old in Qingyang monitory netw ork.X-ray detectable rate is 3%,but 12 cases patients were showed in Zhangjiach uan.X-ray detectable rate is 22.22%.Conclusions　Illness was showed steady state and was con trolled in Qingyang region,but illness recurred clearly in Zhangjiachuan region.

Objective To establish an evaluation system to assess the effect of personnel training program for health professionals in the hospital,in order to achieve the goal that improve the overall competitiveness of the hospital.Methods Comparing and analyzing the differences in research project,research achievements,personnel capacity building before and after implementation of the training program.Paired T-test was used to exam the differences.Results There are statistically significant differences for proposed analyses (p ≤ 0.05).Conclusions The outcome of this study indicates that the personnel training program is extremely important to further development of the hospital.

Objective To evaluate the inhibitory activity of Herba Taraxaci extract on Escherichia coli DH5α (E. coli DH5α) and to investigate proteomic response of E. coli. Methods Medicinal powder of Herba Taraxaci was extracted with the solvents of different polarity ( n-hexane, ethyl acetate, distilled water) , and then the obtained 8 different extracts were subjected to thin layer chromatography ( TLC) analysis. Microdilution method was performed to detect the minimum inhibitory concentration ( MIC) of different extracts and the growth curves were described. The protein expression profiles of E . coli treated with the extracts were analyzed by sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electropheresis ( SDS-PAGE) and two dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE) . Results Water decoction of Herba Taraxaci could obviously suppress the growth of E. coli with a MIC of 1.95 mg/mL. The different extractions exhibited no antibacterial activity except ethyl acetate phase 3 with a MIC of 0.13 mg/mL, which was equal to 19.23 mg/mL of crude drugs. The results of TLC analysis showed that chlorogenic acid was undetectable in n-hexane extract and ethyl acetate phase 1 extract, and ethyl acetate phase 2 and 3 extracts showed obviously increased spots. The results of SDS-PAGE and 2-DE showed that water decoction of Herba Taraxaci had inhibitory effect on the expression of functional protein. The results of 2-DE showed that after treatment with ethyl acetate phase 3 at the concentration of 2 × MIC for 21 hours, the amount of protein spots were 92 less than those of the blank control group, the spots of E. coli DH5α soluble protein with expression amount down-regulated doubly were 24, and those with expression amount up-regulated doubly were 19. Ethyl acetate phase 3 extract had an effect on down-regulating the protein expression of E. coli DH5α soluble protein pH3-10, and water decoction of Herba Taraxaci had inhibitory effect on E. coli DH5αprotein expression. Conclusion Herba Taraxaci has significant antibacterial activity on E. coli DH5α, and the water-soluble fraction of chlorogenic acid and caffeic acid might be the active components. The possible antibacterial mechanism may be related with the regulation of bacterial protein expression.

Objective To better understand students' professional perception,humanistic education status quo and their preference to different humanistic education methods.Methods Questionnaire was conducted for 990 undergraduate students (2006 grade- 2010 grade) at medical school of Shanghai Jiao Tong university.SPSS 17.0 statistical software was used to analyze results of the questionnaire.Results Nearly 45％ students chose to major in clinical medicine out of personal interest.The identification of students for humanistic quality was lower than that for clinical knowledge and skills.More than 50％ students believed doctors were with high humanistic quality and there was a gap between students′ action and their understanding of the medical career identity and medical humanistic cultivation.More than 50％ students preferred activities that train medical and auxiliary skills.Nearly 67％ students also showed a shallow reading habit from regular internet surfing.Conclusion The professional perception of medical students are influenced by both social and historical factors influence.The gap between understanding and action is a consequence of current humanistic educational system.The humanistic educational methodology should conform to the psychological and s~ial characteristics of contemporary students.

Objective To investigate the effects of imiquimod on cytokine secretions of normal human epidermal Langerhans cells (LCs) and HaCaT cells, and to better understand the mechanism of immune regulation by imiquimod. Methods LCs were sorted from prepared epidenmal cells by density gradient centrifugation and magnetic-activated cell sorting (MACS). LCs and HaCaT cells were cultured in media with or without 5 ?g/mL of imiquimod for 4 hours, then cell-free culture supernatants were harvested, cytokines were detected by ELISA kits. OBJECTIVETo investigate the clinical effects of anterior cervical intervertebral space decompression under microscope in treating cervical spondylotic myelopathy in elderly patients.

METHODSFrom June 2009 to March 2012, 43 patients with cervical spondylotic myelopathy were treated with anterior cervical intervertebral space decompression and intervertebral fusion under microscope. There were 26 males and 17 females, aged from 60 to 72 years old with an average of (64.9±3.7) years. Japanese Orthopaedic Association System (JOA) score was from 7 to 12 points with an average of (9.5±1.8) points before operation. The function of nerves was assessed before and after operation according to JOA.

RESULTSAll patients were followed up from 10 to 18 months with an average of (14.7±1.6) months. Postoperative JOA score was (13.81±1.44) points (ranged, 10 to 16), had significantly higher than preoperative (P<0.01). According to the rate of the improved JOA score, 9 cases got excellent results, 26 good, 7 fair, 1 poor.

CONCLUSIONAnterior cervical intervertebral space decompression under microscope for cervical spondylotic myelopathy in elderly patients is safe and effective.
