OBJECTIVE:To study the anti-oxidative effects of spirulina kinase (SPK) in vitro. METHODS:The methods of phenanthroine-Fe2+ oxidation method,DPPH and auto-oxidation of pyrogallol were used to measure the effects of different concen-trations of SPK on scavenging hydroxyl (OH-) free radical,DPPH free radical and superoxide anion (O2-) free radical;IC50 of SPK was calculated. Prussian blue reaction was used to determine total reducing ability(by absorbance)of different concentrations of SPK to Fe3+. Vitamin C(VC)was used as positive control in above trials. RESULTS:SPK could eliminate the OH-free radical, DPPH free radical and O2- free radical in concentration-dependant manner, and the maximum elimination rate of SPK to OH- free radical and DPPH free radical were 86.82% and 78.98%(IC50 were 54.31,0.636 g/L),which were higher than VC (64.77%, 73.49%). The maximum elimination rate of SPK to O2- free radical was 78.31%(IC50 was 3.918 g/L),which was lower than VC (94.14%). In reducing ability test,SPK improved absorbance in reducing ability test system, and maximum absorbance was simi-lar to VC in concentration-dependant manner. CONCLUSIONS:SPK has obvious anti-oxidant activities in vitro.

Objective:To systematically analyse the blood coagulation features of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients. Methods:An electronic search in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, EMbase, and CNKI to collect studies related to the blood coagulation features of COVID-19 patients from 1 January 2020 to 1 May 2020. Two reviewers independently screened literatures, extracted data and assessed the risk of bias of included studies. Then, the platelet count, D-dimer value, prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) and fibrinogen of patients with different types of diseases were analyzed by using Stata12.0 software.Results:Thirty-nine retrospective studies involving 6 994 COVID-19 patients were included. The results of meta-analysis showed that:(1) compared with severe group, the platelet count (Weighted mean difference; WMD=20.11, 95% CI 11.53 to 28.69, P<0.001) and APTT (WMD=1.30, 95%CI 0.31 to 2.30, P=0.01) were found to be higher while D-dimer (WMD=-0.41, 95%CI-0.58 to-0.24, P<0.001), fibrinogen (WMD=-0.58, 95% CI-0.76 to-0.39, P<0.001) and PT (WMD=-0.51, 95%CI-0.92 to-0.10, P<0.001) were lower in mild group; the platelet count (WMD=-14.75, 95% CI-29.73 to-0.23, P=0.044) was found to be lower while D-dimer (WMD=1.06, 95% CI 0.65 to 1.47, P<0.001) was found to be higher in critical ill patients. (2)Compared with the survival group, the patients in death group displayed elevated levels of D-dimer (WMD=6.86, 95% CI 4.15 to 9.57, P<0.001) and PT (WMD=1.37, 95% CI 0.73 to 2.02, P<0.001) while platelet count (WMD=-36.40, 95% CI-63.23 to-9.58, P=0.008) remained low. Conclusion:Coagulation dysfunction was common in severe, critical ill and dead COVID-19 patients. Platelet count, D-dimer and PT levels were associated with the severity of the disease, and thus could be used as early warning indicators for the deterioration of the disease during hospitalization.

The effects of Zn2 + on GABAA-receptor mediated responses in acutely isolated rat sacral dorsal commissural nucleus (SDCN) were studied using nystatin-perforated whole cell recording techniques. The results demonstrated that ( 1 ) GABA induced inward currents through activation of GABAA-receptor at a holding potential of -40 mV; (2) GABAA-receptor mediated responses were suppressed by Zn2 + in a reversible and voltage-independent manner; and (3) in the presence of Zn2 + , the concentration-response curve of GABA-induced responses was shifted to the right in a parallel manner. The results suggest that Zn2 +allosterically depresses GABAA-receptor mediated currents.

Objective To investigate effect of Dahuang Fuzi decoction on alveolaur epithelial barrier in rats with lung injury with severe acute pancreatitis. Method Ninty-six health SD rats were randomly divided into three groups: sham operation group, SAP-ALI group, Dahuang Fuzi decoction group, and then according to the time point of sacrifice after operation, each group was subdivided into 3,6,12,24 hour subsets ( each, n = 8). After the belly of a rat in the sham operation group was cut open, the pancreas was flipped several times, and then a stoma was made in the jejunum to form its fistula. In the SAP-ALl group,1 mL/kg sodium taurocholate was reversely injected into the pancreatobile duct to establish the model of SAP, and then the jejimum fistula was performed. The SAP-ALI model in Dahuang Fuzi decoction group was treated by injection of 10ml of Dahuang Fuzi decoctionon into the fistula respectively. Blood was collected from heart to detect serum amvlase and endotoxin (ET) levels before the rat being executed. The lung histopathologic changes, pulmonary injury scores and wet/dry weight(W/D) ratios were observed after the rats were executed. The alveolar liquid clearance rate(ALCR), total lung water content (TLW), extravascular lung water content(EVLW) and alveolar epithelial permeability (AEP) were examined in 3,6, 12,24 h after injury. Results There was continuous increase of AEP,TLW and EVLW,as well as progressive reduction of ALCR compared with sham operation group at 3,6,12,24 h after operation. Compared with SAP-ALI group, there was continuous decrease of AEP,TLW and EVLW, and elevated of ALCR at 3,6,12,24 h after operation. Conclusions Dahuang Fuzi decoction can significantly reduce alveolaur epithelial barrier and degree of lung tissue of SAP-ALI rats by inhibiting the elevation of LPS and inflammation reaction.
