1.Review on studies of acupuncture treatment for luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome
Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2015;(6):398-404
Luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome (LUFS), a specific type of ovulation disorder, is for a cause of female infertility. Acupuncture therapy has a good effect for LUFS. In order to understand the clinical effects and research situation of acupuncture therapy for LUFS, the author analyzed and reviewed the relevant literature. It was indicated by the findings that acupuncture therapy and integrative therapy of acupuncture and Chinese herbs have good therapeutic effect for this disease. Acupuncture therapy has the effect to promote ovulation. By the therapeutic principle to tonify the kidney and circulate blood, acupuncture therapy mostly was adopted in the period of ovulation. The acupoints are mostly selected from the lower abdomen and lower limbs, possibly based upon syndrome differentiation at the same time. The needling techniques are of certain characteristics. But, the issues of low quality, un-standardized inclusive, exclusive criteria and effective criteria still exist in the current clinical study.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the induc-ing factors of Bell’s palsy. METHODS From Febru-ary to May 2005, 262 outpatients of Bell’s palsy were surveyed for 9 inducing factors. RESULTS The mean age of onset was 39?17 years old. The ratio of male to female and of left to right were 48:52. Forty-eight patients denied all inducing factors, while 214 pa-tients (81.7 %) had at least one factor. Cold was found in 53.5 % of the patients, fatigue in 22.5 %, viral infec-tion in 18.7 %, recurrence in 11.8 %, psychological stress in 11.5 %, family history in 7.6 %, puerperal period in 1.5 %, and molar infection of the affected side in 1.5 %. CONCLUSION Bell’s palsy is likely to be a set of disease. Most of patients with Bell’s palsy had inducing factors. Avoid these factors may reduce the incidence of Bell’s palsy. Further investigate will fractionize Bell’s palsy to several diseases includ-ing true idiopathic peripheral facial paralysis and some definite diseases.

Background and purpose: Capecitabine, which is widely used in the first-line treatment of advanced breast cancer, was known little in the maintenance treatment of advanced breast cancer. The present study aimed to explore the efficacy and safety of capecitabine in the maintenance treatment of advanced breast cancer. Methods: A total of 62 advanced breast cancer patients confirmed by histopathology and/or cytology, who had been evaluated as CR/PR/SD after first-line treatment, were divided into two groups. Thirty-one of them received capecitabine orally as maintenance treatment, while the others were followed up without any treatment. The clinical response was evaluated every two cycles. Results:The median time to progression (TTP) of the capecitabine group was 12 (2-24) months, which was signiifcantly higher than the control group. In the subgroup analysis, similar results were detected in the premenopausal group, hormone receptor positive group, HER-2 positive group, metastasis group, no capecitabine used history group. Among the capecitabine group, the overall response rate (CR+PR) was 19.4%, and the disease control rate (CR+PR+SD) was 74.2%. The most common adverse effects were hand-foot syndrome, hematologic toxicity and gastrointestinal reaction, all of which could be tolerated. The overall score of the capecitabine group evaluated by the Chinese vesion of the FACT-B was signiifcantly higher than the control group. Conclusion:Capecitabine can effectively and tolerably prolong survival time and improve the quality of life of patients in the maintenance treatment of advanced breast cancer.
