Objective To observe the relationship of liver ultrasound class and urinary albumin excretion ratio (UAER) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) combined with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Methods One hundred and ninety-seven T2DM patients were divided into 3 groups according to the degree of hepar adiposum: group A (66 subjects without NAFLD), group B (63 subjects with mild NAFLD) and group C (68 subjects with moderate or severe NAFLD). Their clinical indexes,UAER and biochemical parameters were measured and compared, the relative analysis of blood fat, HOMA-IR and UAER was done. Results Compared with those in group A, the levels of UAER were significantly increased [(86.49 ± 65.19) mg/24 h vs. (115.16 ± 101.99) mg/24 h vs. (159.45 ± 149.08) mg/24 h,P < 0.05], and the levels of high density lipoprotein cholesterol decreased in group B and group C[(1.21 ± 0.37) mmol/L vs.(1.05 ± 0.38) mmol/L vs. (0.99 ± 0.21) mmol/L,P < 0.05]. Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that triglyeride was the most important risk factor affecting UAER(P < 0.05). Conclusions There is a close relationship between NAFLD and UAER in T2DM. In the subjects with moderate or severe NAFLD, the UAER increases which indicates that these patients already have capillary vessel injury apparently.

Objective To develop a promising type of radiation dosimeter based on doped hydroxyapatite, and to study the stability of dosimetric characteristics indepth. Methods The samples prepared by stereotyping techniques were stored under different temperatures, humidity and illumination conditions after 60Co γ-ray irradiation.Electron spin resonance (ESR) technique was used to quantitatively measure the radiation-induced free radical signal. Results The signal change was less than 3% when the dosimeter was preserved at 4℃ or room temperature within 3 months in the experiment. At 40℃,the signal changed by about 13%,but at room temperature with the humidity less than 36%,the signal changed less than 2%.The change rose to about 8% when humidity was 76%.However,no significant decay of signal strength occurred at relatively high temperatures and under high humidity conditions. When the samples were stored under average illumination of 1600 lux or in a light-resistant container, the signal changes were less than 3.8% or 3.4% respectively.Long-term stability inspection at room temperature suggested a signal change within 4.8%.Conclusion The dosimetric properties of the material don't change significantly below room temperature in a natural environment and exhibit good stability over long-term storage. The free radical signal is not influenced drastically by relatively strong light exposure. However,a high temperature or a highly humid environment may have some effect on the measurement process, which should be taken into consideration in further applications.

Objective: To explore the impact of echocardiographic parameter of diastolic dysfunction (E/A) on the recurrence of atrial ifbrillation (AF) in patients after catheter ablation.
Methods: We retrospectively studied 277 consecutive AF patients with circumferential pulmonary vein ablation (CPVA) in our hospital. According to E/A ratio, the patients were divided into 3 groups: Normal group, the patients with 0.75< E/A<2, n=203, Mild abnormal group, E/A≤0.75, n=53 and Severe abnormal group, E/A>2, n=21. The late AF recurrent rates were compared among different groups. The patients were divided into another 2 groups upon AF recurrence after CPVA: Recurrent group, n=57 patients with atrial arrhythmia lasted more than 30 seconds at 3 months after CPVA and Non-recurrent group, n=220. The clinical conditions were compared between 2 groups.
Results: The patients were followed-up for (374 ± 276) days. The AF recurrent rate in Severe abnormal group was 33.3%, in Mild abnormal group was 23.5% and in Normal group was 18.5%, P>0.05. The E/A ratio in Recurrent group was 1.22 ± 0.54, in Non-recurrent group was 1.19 ± 0.49, P=0.653. Univariate analysis indicated that the risk factors for AF recurrence included LVEDD and gender, not E/A ratio (P=0.236). Cox multivariate analysis indicated that with adjusted gender, hypertension, diabetes, LVEDD and LVESD, abnormal E/A ratio was the predictor for late AF recurrence (HR 2.29, 95%CI 1.01-5.19, P=0.046). With further adjusted LVEDD and E/A, the severe abnormal E/A ratio was still the predictor for AF recurrence (HR 2.27, 95%CI 1.01-5.12, P=0.047).
Conclusion: E/A ratio was the important predictor for AF recurrence in patients after CPVA.

OBJECTIVETo study the ability of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) to repair the internal environment of the testis in male azoospermia rats.
METHODSWe established azoospermia models in 22 six-week-old male SD rats by intraperitoneal injection of busulfan at 20 mg per kg body weight. We transplanted allogeneic rat BMSCs (rBMSCs) into the testicular seminiferous tubules of the model rats and, 30 days after transplantation, observed the composition and structure of the seminiferous tubular cells by HE staining and detected the expressions of CD44, CD106, and c-kit in the rBMSCs by immunohistochemistry.
RESULTSThe number of epididymal sperm was significantly reduced in the model rats as compared with the normal controls (P < 0.01). CD44 and CD106, but not c-kit, were expressed in the isolated rBMSCs. At 30 days after transplantation of rBMSCs, lots of new cells were observed in the seminiferous tubules, some expressing CD106 and some expressing the germ cell surface marker c-kit.
CONCLUSIONBMSCs can transdifferentiate into germ cells and repair the damaged seminiferous tubules of sterile rats.
