Objective To analyse the risk factors for lymph node metastasis of early colorectal cancer and the therapeutic indication for endoscopy. Methods The clinical data of the 269 early colorectal cancer patients who underwent surgical treatments between January 2009 and December 2013 in the West China hospital of Sichuan University were analyzed retrospectively.Pathologic features were compared between different histological types and investigated by univariate and multivariate analysis of their possible risk factors for lymph node metastasis. Results Univariate analysis showed that tumor size (P =0.029),depth of tumor invasion (P =0.006),histological type (P =0.000) and lymphatic involvement (P =0.035) were correlated with lymph node metastasis.Multivariate analysis revealed that tumor size (OR =5.385,95% CI:1.156-25.075,P =0.032)and histological type (OR =5.145,95% CI:1.553-17.053,P =0.007) were independent risk factorsfor lymph node metastasis.Comprehensive analysis showed that lymph node metastasis could not be found in patients with tumor invading the mucous layer. However, lymph node metastasis occurred if the tumor invaded the submucous layer. The larger and less differentiated tumor was,the higher occurrence of lymph node matastasis would be (P < 0.05).Conclusion Endoscopic resection is recommended for those with early colorectal cancer localized in the mucous layer and without lymph node metastasis. It is recommended that patients with submucosal carcinomas undergo a preoperative endoscopic ultrasonography or pathological screening for the most appropriate surgical treatment,as the larger and the lower differentiated the tumor is,the higher chance the lymphatic metastasis is.

Objective To observe the time-dependent changes of astrocytes and microvessels in the ischemic core and surrounding areas. Methods Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP)was measured by HE,and CD31 by immunohistochemistry as markers in post-mortem specimens from ten patients, who died of cerebral infarction. Results Each section of the infarcted brains was divided into four areas (the area 0-3).GFAP expressed a little in area 0 and 1,increased in a time-dependent manner in area 2 and 3;CD31 die not expressed in area 0,expressed a little in the area 1,and increased in area 2 and 3 continuously. Conclusions The proliferation of astrocytes and microvessels may play a significant role in the process of restoration after cerebral infarction.

OBJECTIVETo discuss the intervention effect of ligustrazine on ox-LDL-induced foam cells from the perspective of reverse cholesterol transport.
METHODRAW264.7 cultured in vitro was induced with 20 mg x L(-1) ox-LDL to establish the foam cell model, and intervened with ligustrazine. The lipid accumulation in cells was observed by the oil red O dyeing. The changes in total cholesterol and cholesterol ester in the cells were detected with the colorimetric method. The fluorescent quantitative PCR and Western blot were used to detect the mRNA expressions of PPARgamma, LXRalpha and ABCA1.
RESULTLigustrazine could reduce total cholesterol and cholesterol ester in foam cells, inhibit the lipid accumulation, and increase the mRNA and protein expressions of PPARgamma, LXRalpha and ABCA1.
CONCLUSIONLigustrazine can promote the reverse cholesterol transport by increasing the gene expressions of PPARgamma, LXRalpha and ABCA1.

Chinese Journal of Medical Instrumentation 2005;29(2):92-95
The circuit of a monitoring system for respiratory mechanical parameters is designed based on the detection of respiratory flow and pressure. Breaking through the restrictions of traditional methods that can only monitor respiratory rate, this design is able to monitor more than 10 respiratory parameters simultaneously and thus provides a good technical support for improving the properties of homemade monitors.

Objective To provide the promoting effect of extract of leave Ginkgo biloba(EGb_(50))on nerve regeneration and the dose-effect relationship. Methods Sciatic nerve injury model was set up in 96 male Spraque-Daweiy rats and then randomly divided into four groups:normal saline (NS) group, the low dose EGb_(50) group (50mg?kg~(-1)?d~(-1)),the moderate dose EGb_(50) group (100 mg?kg~(-1)?d~(-1)) ,the high dose EGb_(50) group (200 mg?kg~(-1)?d~(-1)).Electrophysiological,histological examinations and functional eval- uation were used to assess nerve regeneration and the functional recovery in 2,4,6,8 weeks of operative inter- vals respectively. Results The recovery rate of sciatic functional index(SFI),tetanic tension, motor nerve conduction velocity, muscle cell cross-section area of triceps surae and the passing rate of myelinated nerve were significantly higher in EGb_(50) group in all the time point than in control(P<0.01).Except the recovery rate of sciatic functional index (SFI),there was significant difference between high dose group and moderate, low dose group.(P<0.01,P<0.05).Conclusion EGb_(50) has the effect of promoting regeneration of in- juried peripheral nerve and the high dose can get the best result.

Objective To investigate the safety and efficacy of retroperitoneal laparoscopy for adrenal tumor and report the experience with this procedure for adrenal surgery. Methods From June 2003 to March 2007,we performed 24 laparoscopic tumorectomy via the retroperitoneal approach. Results All procedures were successful. The average operative time was 1.7 hours(ranging from 1 to 3.5 hours). All patients had no need of transfusion and no complication. All patients recovered. The average hospital stay was 4.5 days(ranging from 3 to 8 days).Patholog- ic diagnosis:10 cases of nonfunctional adenoma,6 cases of primary aldosteronism,4 cases of adrenal cyst,2 cases of pheochromocytoma,2 cases of Cushing's adenoma. Conclusions Retroperitoneal laparoscopic surgery for adrenal oc- cupying lesion had such advantages as minimal invasive, safe and effective, early recovery and shorter stay in hospital. It should be the flint choice of treatment for adrenal occupying lesion.

Objective The levels of Thl cytokines(IL-10 and IL-13)and Th2 cytokines(INF-? and TNF-?)were determined in the sera of patients with Schistosomiasis japonica in order to find the relationship between cytokines and severe hepatic fibrosis(HF)in schistosomiasis. Methods A total of 358 patients with advanced Schistosomiasis japonica were examined by ultrasound.68 HBsAg negative patients were chosen randomly as experimental control.Among them,39 patients were found to have mild HF and 29 were severe HF.The sera levels of Thl and Th2 cytokines were determined with ELISA.Results Among these 358 patients,83(23.2%)were HBsAg positive.Neither earlier nor severer hepatic fibrosis was noted in the patients who had been simultaneously infected with HBV than those only infected with schistosomiasis. There was a significant difference between mild[ 1.60(1.30-12.14)ng/L]and severe[ 4.20(1.43- 52.07)ng/L]HF patients in the level of IL-10(Z=-3.907,P0.05)was found in level of IFN-?,between severe[3.12(1.38-66.14)ng/L]and mild[5.87(1.33-216.33)ng/ L]HF subjects. Our observation did not reveal any obvious difference of TNF-? between severe[ 2.48(0.79 -19.86)ng/L]and mild[ 2.28(0.67-15.72)ng/L]HF groups. Conclusions Patients infected with advanced shistosomiasis may become more susceptible to HBV.The results of the present investigation showed that a high level production of IL-13 was associated with severe HF.
