Evidence suggests that translocation of gut bacteria or their toxins is a major contributor to gut-derived sepsis and multisystem organ failure in critically ill patients.This review reevaluates the data from studies in animal models and humans on bacterial translocation.The new insights in mechanisms of bacterial translocation pathogenesis and its clinical relevance will help clinicians to make correct strategies to enhance gut function.

Cervical artificial disc replacement (CADR) as a new method for the treatment of cervical spondylosis, is becoming a basic and clinical research. Compared with the anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF), the biggest difference of CADR lies in the reconstruction of the cervical vertebra height and physiological curvature, retaining the spinal physiological function maximally and reducing the degenerative changes in adjacent segments. A large number of clinical investigation have suggested that ACDR can become an operation method to replace the ACDF. However, the complications and the problems of prosthesis itself are gradually exposed, such as that the prosthesis, can't completely simulate the biological effects of human intervertebral disc, the other factors and including the operation methods and prosthesis itself. At the same time, the problem that how to prevent complications and problems is required to be solved. Whether, the effect of CADR on the activity of the operation segment, and the prevention of adjacent segment degeneration can be guaranteed for a long time has drawn more and more attention from scholars.

Objective To study the effect of glucagon-like peptide 2 (GLP-2) on the absorption- related genes [ sodium dependent glucose transporter 1 (SGLT1) and dipeptide transporter 1 (PEPT1)] mRNA expressions of residual small bowel in a rat model of short bowel syndrome. Methods Rats undertaken 75% small bowel resection were randomly assigned into 3 groups: short bowel control (SBC) group, growth hormone (GH) group and GLP-2 group. Another weight-matched normal rats with normal diet was used as normal (NC) group. All rats were given normal chow on the 1st postoperative day (POD). On the 6th POD, partial segment of terminal ileum was harvested to evaluate the mRNA expressions of SGLT1 and PEPT1 by semiquantified reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Results The mRNA expressions of both SGLT1 and PEPT1 in SBC group were significantly higher than that of NC group(P0.05). Conclusions A short term GLP-2 adiministration in early postoperative days may has no significant effect on mRNA expressions of SGLT1 and PEPT1 in residual ileum in rats with short bowel syndrome.

Objective To study the effects of norepinephrine (NE) on intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in cardiac myocytes and receptor pathways involved in ROS production. Methods DCFHDA fluorescent probe was used for the assessment of NE induced intracellular ROS production in cultured cardiac myocytes of the neonatal rats. Myocytes were exposed to NE, NE + prazosin, NE + propranolol, and NE + prazosin + propranolol at different time and doses. The changes of fluorescence intensity in cells were measured by flow cytometry. Results NE increased myocyte ROS production in time and dose dependent manners. NE induced ROS production was partially inhibited by prazosin or propranolol, and completely inhibited by prazosin and propranolol together in myocytes. Conclusion NE can induce intracellular ROS production in cultured cardiac myocytes of the neonatal rats in time and dose dependent manners through the mediation of both ? and ? adrenoceptors.

Objective: To explore the protections of GLP-Ⅱ pretreatment on mouse intestinal mucosal immunity after ischemia/reperfusion insult. Methods: Thirty ICR mice were randomly divided into three groups: namely normal control (N), control (C) and GLP-Ⅱ pretreatment (P). Group C and group P were inflicted with ligation of superior mesenteric artery for twenty minutes. The morphology of distal ileum mucosa, the rate of intestinal bacteria translocation, the level of plasma endotoxin and intestinal IgA were determined. AIM　Here the development of a simple, rapid and simultaneous method for the separation of five ephedrine alkaloids obtained with non-aqueous capillary electrophoresis (NACE) were reported. The effects of the electrolyte, non-aqueous solvent on the separation were also discussed. METHODS　A running buffer of 50 mmol/L ammonium acetate in methanol was found to be the most suitable for this separation. RESULT　The best separation was achieved within 8 minutes. CONCLUSION　The separation is not only dependent on differences in the pK value of the alkaloids but also on the intramolecular interaction and solvation. So much improved selectivity could be achieved in nonaqueous medium.

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic superiority of endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) in primary gastric lymphoma (PGL) and its value in follow-up.Methods From January 2012 to June 2015,38 patients with suspected PGL under regular gastroendoscopy,biopsy and surgery operation received EUS combined with targeted deep biopsy.T test and chi-square test were performed for statistical analysis.Results Among 50 patients suspected for PGL under regular gastroendoscopy,38 patients were confirmed pathologically.The sensitivity of EUS examination with targeted deep biopsy in PGL was 86.8％ (33/38),the specificity was 83.3％ (10/12) and accuracy was 86.0％ (43/50).The accuracy of EUS examination with deep biopsy was higher than that of regular gastroscopy,and the difference was statistically significant (86.0％ (43/50) vs 57.9％ (22/38),x2 =19.4,P＜0.05).The main endosonographic characteristics of PGL were partial or diffuse thickening of stomach wall presented with,even or uneven hypoechoic lesions and extramural enlarged lymph nodes.Compared with pathological stage after surgery,the accuracy of T and N stage of EUS was 8/8 and 7/8.The times to achieve complete remission of Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) eradication group and H.pylori eradication group were (3.3±0.8) months and (4.6± 0.9) months,respectively,and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (t =4.3,P＜0.05).Conclusions The detection rate of EUS combined with targeted deep biopsy is high,which could clearly indicate the depth and extent of lesion invasion and guide clinical stage and selection of therapy.EUS could effectively evaluate efficacy of PGL treatment.
