1.Surgical Reconstruction of Nasal Alar Deformities.
Journal of Rhinology 2017;24(2):65-73
Reconstruction of the nasal alar may be challenging due to the complex nature of multiple cosmetic units and functional considerations, including maintenance of valvular competency. Reconstructive options include various flaps or graft repairs, depending on the subunit involvement and the size of the defect. Linear closures may be suitable for small defects, while bilobed flaps, melolabial flaps, and forehead flaps may be considered for moderate to large defects involving partial and full-thickness defects of the ala.

3.Trends in Salaries for Registered Nurses Compared with Elementary School Teachers and Salary Differences by Workplace Size and Geographic Location.
Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing Administration 2013;19(1):108-117
PURPOSE: To analyze trends in salaries for registered nurses when compared with salaries for elementary school teachers from 2002 to 2009 and identify salary gaps of nurses according to workplace size and geographic location. METHODS: Data were obtained from the Occupational Employment Statistics collected by the Korea Employment Information Services each year from 2002 to 2009. The study sample consisted of 2,281 registered nurses and 2,578 elementary school teachers. Linear multiple regression analyses were conducted to analyze salary trends and differences. RESULTS: Elementary school teachers had higher monthly salaries than nurses with a baccalaureate degree after adjusting for years of work. Salary differences increased significantly by 40,000 won every year (p<.001). Nurses working in large facilities in Seoul had the highest salaries, whereas those in small/medium, non-Seoul facilities had the lowest salaries consistently over time. Salary differences between the two groups increased by 47,000 won every year (p=.001); salary differences between nurses in large, non-Seoul facilities and those in small/medium, non-Seoul facilities also increased by 40,000 won annually (p=.001). CONCLUSION: Geographical imbalances in the nurse workforce and nurse shortages in small/medium, non-capital facilities could be reduced by increasing the salary of nurses working in those facilities.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1997;32(7):1531-1535
A foreign body reaction to biodegradable fixation materials for internal fixation of a variety of fractures and osteotomies has been described since nineteen eighty five. Polyglycolide and other biodegradable poly-alpha-hydroxyacids such as polylactide (PLA) or polydioxanone (PDS) causes a non-specific inflammatory reaction with invasion of macrophages, multinucleated foreign body giant cells and neutrophilic polymorphonuclear leucocytes. The wood and needle fish were reported to cause foreign body reaction by several authors. But there is no report about aseptic synovitis caused by intraarticular stainless steel foreign body. So we report a case of aseptic synovitis reaction to stainless steel treated successfully by arthroscopic surgery and discuss the possible reasons for this inflammatory reaction.

Journal of the Korean Society of Maternal and Child Health 2021;25(1):31-41
Purpose:
The purpose of this study was to understand the experiences of mothers of infants who received sustained nurse home visiting services. The program of sustained home visit by nurses (Seoul Maternal Early Childhood Sustained Home-Visiting Program) is an intervention program. Its effectiveness has been verified in Australia, where services are provided to families in a vulnerable families during the period from prenatal period until the newborn is 2 years old.
Methods:
The study protocol used qualitative approaches. Eleven mothers of infants who received nursing services in December 2015 were invited for an in-depth interview. The data collected were subjected to directed content analysis.
Results:
The following 4 themes were identified from the analysis: (1) reduction in suspicion and increased feeling of benefit from the visiting service, (2) emotional support to the parents and use of community resources, (3) reliance on friendly nurses, and (4) gaining confidence about parenting and motherhood.
Conclusion
Sustained nursing home visiting services can be applied effectively in South Korea. The concrete narrations and descriptions of the experiences of mothers in this study can be used as a base for education, practice, and research.
9.Combined Effect of Rebamipide 2% and Hyaluronic Acid 0.15% on Dry Eye after Cataract Surgery
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 2024;65(12):771-777
Purpose:
To assess the combined therapeutic effects of topical rebamipide 2% and hyaluronic acid 0.15% in managing dry eye symptoms following cataract surgery.
Methods:
Patients who underwent cataract surgery (phacoemulsification with intraocular lens insertion) were assessed for dry eye one week following the procedure. Dry eye patients were randomly assigned to two groups: a treatment group receiving rebamipide 2% and hyaluronic acid 0.15% eye drops, and a control group who did not receive these treatments. Various dry eye tests, including Schirmer’s test, tear break up time (TBUT), ocular surface staining, tear film osmolarity, tear lipid layer thickness, and the ocular surface disease index, were conducted at one and two months after surgery.
Results:
Significant improvements in TBUT (1 month: p < 0.001; 2 months: p < 0.001) and ocular surface staining scores (1 month: p = 0.001; 2 months: p < 0.001) were observed in the treatment group at both one and two months after surgery compared to baseline. During the follow-up period, the treatment group consistently showed significantly longer TBUT (p < 0.001 at both intervals) and lower ocular surface staining scores (1 month: p = 0.007; 2 months: p < 0.001) when compared to the control group.
Conclusions
The combined application of rebamipide and hyaluronic acid eye drops following cataract surgery effectively improved TBUT and ocular surface staining scores.
