As the key organ of human, the brain has projection area corresponding to every part of the body, indicating that the damage on human body will locate a corresponding projection area in the brain. The primary injury on the distal end will produce secondary lesion in the projection area of brain, featuring as "bipolar lesions". The volume transmission (VT) theory and propagated sensation along meridians (PSAM) in TCM provide core guidance for the treatment of "bipolar lesions". The tendency to lesion of PSAM is achieved through volume transmission, which is also called "propagated sensation tendency to lesion of VT". From three aspects, VT can treat bipolar lesions, formatting a ring closed path. With VT as main treatment and wiring transmission as supplemented treatment, it has a more comprehensive guidance for treatment, and this theory may play an essential guiding role in the future treatment development for diseases.

Acta Anatomica Sinica 2002;0(05):-
Objective To study the expression of substance P(SP) and substance P receptor(SPR) during the development of mice brains. Methods The expression of SP and SPR during the development of mice brains from embryonic day(E) 11 to postnatal day(P) 0 days was analyzed by immunohistochemical method. Results The expression of SP began at E11 and gradually increased until birth. The expression of SPR began at E11 and maintained stable expression until birth. SP mostly expressed at striatum and SPR mostly expressed at medullary raphe. Conclusion The expression of SP and SPR during the embryo brain stage may indicate that SP could be an important factor involved in the early organization and maturation of neuron.

We examined the effects of intracerebroventricular ( i. c. v) administration of adrenomedullin (ADM) on catecholaminergic neurons and the expression of c-fos gene in rat brain nuclei involved in cardiovascular regulation using double immunohistochemical method for Fos and tyrosine hydroxylase (TH). The results showed that: ( 1 ) Following icy administration of ADM (3 nmol/kg) , double-labeled neurons for Fos and TH were significantly increased in the area postrema ( AP), the nucleus of the solitary tract ( NTS), the nucleus paragigantocelluaris laterialis (PGL) and the locus coeruleus (LC). (2) Pretreatment with calcitonin gene-related peptide receptor antagonis CGRP8-37 (30 nmol/kg) significantly reduced the action of ADM (3 nmol/kg) in the brain. The present study suggested that ADM might activate the neurons of the brain nuclei involved in cardiovascular regulation, and supported the hypothesis that the central action of ADM were induced by activating the catecholaminergic neurons of brainstem nuclei involved in cardiovascular regulation, CGRP receptor might mediate the effects of ADM.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the effect of hydrogen-rich saline given during reperfusion on global cerebral ischeraia-reperfusion (I/R) injury in rats. Methods Seventy-two adult male SD rats, aged 2.0-2.5 months, weighing 260-300 g,were randomly divided into 3 groups (n = 24 each):sham operation group (group S),group I/R and hydrogen-rich saline group (group H).In groups I/R and H cerebral I/R was induced by occlusion of 4 vessels( cauterization of bilateral carotid arteries and 15 min occlusion of bilateral common carotid arteries). In group H intraperitoneal 0.6 mmol/L hydrogen-rich saline 5 ml/kg was injected at 6 h of reperfusion, while equal volume of normal saline was injected instead of hydrogen-rich saline.Eighteen rats of each group were sacririced at 24 h of reperfusion, and then the hippocampi were removed for determination of malondialdehyde (MDA),tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α),interleukin-6 (IL-6)contents,and nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) activity and activated caspase-3 expression.Another six rats of each group were sacrificed at 72 h of reperfusion, and then brain tissues were removed for microscopic examination and counting the number of uninjured pyramidal cells in hippocampal CA1 region.ResultsCompared with S group, the contents of MDA,TNF-α,IL-6 and NF-κB activity were significantly increased, activated caspase-3 expression was significantly up-regulated,uninjured pyramidal cells in hippocampal CA1 region were significantly decreased in I/R group( P < 0.05).Hydrogen-rich saline given during reperfusion attenuated the above-mentioned I/R-induced changes( P < 0.05 ).The histologic damage of the hippocampal CA1 region was significantly slighter in group H than group I/R.ConclusionHydrogen-rich saline given during reperfusion can reduce global cerebral I/R injury in rats through inhibition of lipid peroxidation, inflammatory response and apoptosis.

Myasthenia gravis is a autoimmune neuromuscular disorder characterized by weakness and fatigability of skeletal muscles. The underlying defect is a decrease in the number of available acetylcholine receptors at neuromuscular junction due to an antibody-mediated autoimmune attacks. The course of myasthenia gravis during pregnancy is not predictable. We experienced a patient of myasthenia gravis associated with pregnancy who underwent cesarean section and transient neonatal myasthenia gravis of the newborn. We present this case with brief review of the concerned literatures.

Journal of the Korean Dietetic Association 2004;10(1):34-46
The purpose of this study was to investigate disinfection state and effective factors of foodservice facilities and utilities of elementary schools in Busan area. Foodservice facilities and utilities investigated in this study were ceiling, wall, floor, trench, greasetrap, hood, pest and dumb waiter. The questionnaire which was administered to 196 dietitians was used as a survey method. The results were as follows. The washing method of foodservice facilities and utilities was mainly used by detergent washing-natural dry. The disinfection method of foodservice facilities and utilities was mainly sanitized by sodium hypochlorite. Dumb waiter and hood were sanitized by 70% ethyl alcohol and iodine. In washing and disinfection frequencies of foodservice facilities and utilities ceiling was twice/year, wall, hood and pest control facilities were once/week, floor, trench, greasetrap and dumb waiter were everyday, respectively. Floor, trench, greasetrap and dumb waiter were disinfected properly, whereas ceiling, wall, hood and pest were not disinfected properly. The washing method was related to dietitian's marital status and education. The disinfection state was related to dietitian's age and career, having of sanitation check list. The disinfection method was also affected dietitian's marital status, number of employee, duration of foodservice, number of total serving and having of sanitation check list. Therefore based on the results of this study, it should be given to the microbiological study on disinfection of facilities and utilities such as ceiling, wall, floor, trench, greasetrap, hood, pest and dumb waiter and the dietitian and employee's sanitation training also should be conducted continuously.

Cutaneous T-cell lymphoma(CTCL) is a rare cutaneous malignant disease and is typically a disease of older adults. There is no optimal treatment for CTCL, which ranges from topical steroid to systemic chemotherapy. Hence until curative therapy is found, therapies that keep CTCL in check and prevent progression to more advanced lymphoma may be desirable alternatives and may presetve quality of life. Herein we report our experience in treating a stage 11B CTCL patient with triple combination of interferon alfa, oral retinoid, and psoralen plus WA(PWA) therapy.

Korean Journal of Pathology 1996;30(5):408-416
Bcl-2 is a proto-oncogene initially described in follicular lymphoma, associated with chromosomal translocation(14;18). Recent studies have shown the presence of Bcl-2 in nonhematolymphoid tissue, especially in hormonally responsive tissue. The endometrium is an attractive model for studying the hormone dependent regulation of Bcl-2 expression. We have studied the immunoreactivity of Bcl-2 oncoprotein in relation to the immunoreactivity of estrogen receptors(ER) and progesterone receptors(PR) by immunohistochemistry in 52 human endometrial carcinomas, according to nuclear grade. The results obtained are summarized as followings, 1) Immunohistochemical grade of Bcl-2 showed a significant inverse correlation with nuclear grade. 2) Immunohistochemical grades of ER and PR also showed a significant inverse correlation with nuclear grade, and were well correlated with each other. 3) Immunohistochemical grades of Bcl-2 and hormone receptors showed a strongly significant correlation. On the basis of the above results, we suggest that Bcl-2 expression may be under hormone dependent control and that it can be used in prognosis and choice of hormonal therapy in the presence of hormone receptor.
