Chinese Journal of Endemiology 2001;20(3):194-195
Objective To find out the infection of brucella among local people. Methods To implement requirement of brucella surveillance program according to the prevention and cure of brucella document. From 1996-1998,continous surveillance of the group people aged 7~60 years was done. Results Three years surveillance showed that in Yuli county the brucella average infection rate is 13.11%,the rate of contracting disease is 2.62%.Such disease happened among different profession and different kinds of people. It shows that the brucela infection has transferred and diffused from pasturing area to rural section and town. Conclusions The ways is to adopt the available prevention and cure ways,to avoid the source of brucella infection,to strengthen the prevention and cure of the brucella infection among the animals,to improve people's protection consciousness,to reduce the harm that disease done to people.

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy and toxicities of radical intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) combined with reduction in dose of prophylactic irradiation in the treatment of stage Ⅲ small cell lung cancer (SCLC).Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on the clinical data of 40 patients with stage Ⅲ SCLC who were admitted from January 2010 to August 2012.The prescribed dose was 60 Gy in 30 fractions to the primary gross tumor volume and was 54 Gy in 30 fractions to the planning target volume. All patients received induction chemotherapy,31 patients received adjuvant chemotherapy, and 22 patients received concurrent chemoradiotherapy;the platinum-based chemotherapy combined with etoposide or teniposide was adopted.Prophylactic cranial irradiation (25 Gy in 10 fractions) was administered to 17 patients. The short-term tumor response was evaluated by RECIST 1.0,and radiation-related toxicities were assessed by CTCAE 4.0.Overall survival (OS),local recurrence-free survival (LRFS),and progression-free survival (PFS) were calculated by Kaplan-Meier method. Results The short-term tumor response rate was 98%.The follow-up rate was 100%.Twenty-two patients were followed up for at least 2 years. The 1-and 2-year OS rates were 84% and 48%,respectively; the LRFS rates were 89% and 85%,respectively; the PFS rates were 61% and 41%,respectively.Grade 0-1 radiation-related pneumonia was observed in 65%(26/40) of all patients, grade 2 in 25% (10/40),grade 3 in 5% (2/40),and grade 5 in 5% (2/40).Grade 0-1 radiation-related esophagitis was observed in 53% (21/40) of all patients, grade 2 in 43% (17/40),and grade 3 in 5 % (2/40).Conclusions Preliminary results from this study suggested that IMRT combined with reduction in dose of prophylactic irradiation is safe and effective in patients with stage Ⅲ SCLC and is worth further evaluation in a large, prospective, randomized study.

BACKGROUND:Sodium butyrate, a histone deacetylase inhibitor, can inhibit cell proliferation, and induce apoptosis and differentiation of various cancer cells. However, the role of sodium butyrate combined with tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) on lung cancer stem cells remains unclear. OBJECTIVE:To explore the effect of sodium butyrate combined with TRAIL on biological behaviors of lung cancer stem cells. METHODS:Magnetic bead separation was used to separate lung cancer stem cells (CD133+) from human lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells. After the lung cancer stem cells were treated with simple DMEM/F12, DMEM/F12 containing sodium butyrate (5 mmol/L), TRAIL (50 μg/L) or sodium butyrate combined with TRAIL, the cell proliferation within 96 hours of culture was determined by MTT assay; the apoptosis within 24 hours of culture was measured by flow cytometry; the cell migration within 48 hours of culture was detected by cell scratch test; the expression levels of pluripotent transcription factors (Oct4, Sox2 and Nanog) within 48 hours of culture were detected using western blot analysis. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The CD133+ lung cancer stem cells were successfully enriched from human lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells. MTT assay showed that sodium butyrate and TRAIL significantly inhibited the proliferation of lung cancer stem cells (P< 0.05), and the combination effect was even stronger (P < 0.05). Results from flow cytometry analysis and scratch test showed that sodium butyrate or TRAIL induced apoptosis and inhibited cell migration of lung cancer stem cells (P < 0.05), and the combination of sodium butyrate and TRAIL showed a stronger effect (P < 0.05). In addition, the expression levels of Oct4, Sox2 and Nanog were significantly down-regulated by sodium butyrate (P < 0.05), TRAIL or sodium butyrate combined with TRAIL, and the combination effect was stronger (P < 0.05). In conclusion, sodium butyrate and TRAIL have synergistic effects on lung cancer stem cells, indicating a new way for treatment of lung cancer.

Objective To investigate the expression and significance of aromatase P450,COX-2,ER and PR in the patients with adenomysis. Methods The immunohistochemistry staining was used to detect the expression of aromatase P450,COX-2,ER and PR in ectopic endometrium and eutopic endometrium of 30 patients with adenomyosis and 30 cases in control group. Results The expression of aromatase P450,COX-2 in ectopic endometrium were significantly higher than those in eutopic endometrium (all P < 0.05) ; The expression of ER,PR in ectopic endometrium were significantly lower than those in eutopic endometrium (all P < 0.05),excepted the expression of PR in eutopic endometrium, the expressions of both ER and PR lose their periodical cycle. There was positive correlation between the expression of aromatase P450 and COX-2 in adenomysis group(P < 0.05).In adenomyosis, the expression of aromatase P450,COX-2,ER and PR in dysmenorrhea subgroup were significantly higher than those in non-dys menorrhea subgroup(all P < 0.05).Conclusion Aromatase P450,COX-2 and ER play important roles in the genesis and development of adenomyosis and dysmenorrheal,PR is not the main pathogenic factors of adenomyosis. The expressions of aromatase P450,COX-2 and ER in adenomyosis have nothing to do with endometrial cyclical change and are not subject to the regulation of ovarian hormones.
