We assessed about growth hormone binding proteins (GHBP) activity which was measured eluted biotin GH fraction with alkaline phosphatase-streptavidine in children with insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM), short stature due to growth hormone deficiency (GHD), chronic renal failure, short stature due to nutritional deficiency. hypothyroidism and normal control groups using high pressure liquid chromatography protein pak 300 sw column. The following results are observed: 1) There were 3 types of growth hormone (GH) in serum: first GH binded with type I (minor) GHBP suggesting 200K dalton of molecular weight, second GH binded with type II (major) GHBP suggesting 60~70K dalton of molecular weight, and third GH were free form GH suggesting 20~25K dalton of molecular weight. 2) Type II (major) GHBP showed considerable individual variation in all ages. Neonates had the lowest levels of GHBP activity, but by the puberty the levels had increased & remained stable from adolescent to adult periods. 3) GHBP activity of children with IDDM at diagnosis was low value as compared to the same agenormal control group (p<0.05), and difference of GHBP activity among children with IDDM was related with height velocity (r=+0.92). Follow up GHBP activity during insulin therapy was reverse correlation with HbAlc. 4) GHBP activity of children with GHD at diagnosis was a slightly low compared to aged matched control and follow-up GHBP activity after 1 dose GH therapy showed increasing tendency (r=-0.68). 5) Otherwise, children with chronic renal failure, short stature due to nutritional deficiency, and hypothyroidism were assessed lower value than normal control group. Above results, GHBP activity had the lowest levels at neonatal period and then increasing tendency until puberty period and remained steady level until adult period. Regulation of GHBP may be closely related with metabolic control state by insulin, GH, nutritional status, and thyroid hormone..

2.Cr-Co removable partial denture treatment fabricated by selective laser melting: a case report
Journal of Dental Rehabilitation and Applied Science 2021;37(1):39-47
Compared to conventional method, if metal framework of removable partial denture is fabricated by selective laser melting, various laboratory works are omitted, saving time and simplifying the process. In addition, metal framework with homogeneous density can be obtained, expecting excellent mechanical properties, especially resistance to fatigue fracture. In these cases, impression were taken using conventional methods in partial edentulous patients, master casts were fabricated and scanned to obtain digital data. After designing the metal frameworks on the scanned data, removable partial dentures were fabricated using selective laser melting methods. Through these procedure, satisfactory outcomes were achieved both in functional and esthetic aspects.
3.A study on the shear bond strength between 3D printed resin and provisional resin after thermal cycling
Journal of Dental Rehabilitation and Applied Science 2021;37(3):101-110
Purpose:
In this study, we intended to study the change in bond strength according to the thermal cycling of provisional resin and 3D printed resin for making provisional restoration. Materials and Methods: Through DLP method, 3D printed resin powder was used to produce 3D printed resin samples. The samples were grouped into eight groups, according to types of provisional resin (PMMA, bis-acryl resin) which is to be bonded on the samples and numbers of thermal cycling (control, 2,000, 3,000, 5,000 cycles). Shear bond strength of the bonded samples was measured on the universal testing machine.
Results:
As the number of thermal cycling increased, the shear bond strength of PMMA and bis-acryl resin for 3D printed resins decreased except between 3,000 cycles and 5,000 cycles in PMMA groups. In the PMMA group, there were significant differences in shear bond strength between less number than 3,000 cycles (P < 0.05) and no significant differences between more number than 3,000 cycles (P > 0.05). In the bis-acryl resin group, there were significant differences in shear bond strength between control and 2,000 cycles, control and 3,000 cycles, and control and 5,000 cycles (P < 0.05), no significant difference between 2,000 and 3,000 cycles, between 3,000 and 5,000 cycles (P > 0.05).
Conclusion
The shear bond strength between 3D printed resin and provisional resin tended to decrease after thermal cycling.

Brain & Neurorehabilitation 2008;1(2):181-189
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of computer-assisted cognitive training program (RehaCom®) on cognitive function of the patients with stroke. METHOD: Fifty seven subjects with stroke (34 males, 23 females) were enrolled and classified into two groups, experimental and control group. There was no significant difference between two groups in age, sex and lesion type distribution. Control group received conventional rehabilitation therapy including physical and occupational therapy. Experimental group received additional computer-assisted cognitive training using RehaCom software (Germany, 1996), 5 times per a week, 30 minutes per session, for 4 weeks. The RehaCom software consisted of reaction behavior, memory of words, topological memory programs. All patients were assessed their cognitive function using Computerized Neuropsychological Test (CNT), Lowenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment (LOTCA) and Korean Version of Mini-Mental Status Examination (MMSE-K) before and after treatment. Functional independence measurement (FIM) was also applied for evaluation of functional status. RESULTS: There was no difference between two groups in the LOTCA, CNT and FIM scores at baseline. Four weeks later, scores of the MMSE and FIM were significantly improved in the experimental group compared to the control group (p<0.05). Especially, the improvement was significant in moderate cognitive impairment group (MMSE = 11~21) (p<0.05). In learned patients of experimental group, the score of the MMSE and LOTCA were significantly more improved than control group (p<0.05). CONCLUSION: Computer-assisted cognitive training would be useful as a additional tool of cognitive rehabilitation in patients with stroke. Especially, the effect of computer-assisted cognitive training program was far better in patients with moderate cognitive impairment and in patients who show learning in cognitive training program.

Journal of Korean Medical Science 2006;21(6):1136-1138
Schwannomatosis or neurilemmomatosis has been used to describe patients with multiple nonvestibular schwannomas with no other stigmata of neurofibromatosis type-2 (NF-2). In our case, schwannomatosis, multiple schwannomas were present in a 21-yr-old woman with no stigmata or family history of NF-1 or NF-2. She had no evidence of vestibular schwannoma or other intracranial tumors. Multiple peripheral tumors were found in the carotid space of the neck, and soft tissue of posterior shoulder, lower back, ankle and middle mediastinum. All of those tumors were completely limited to the right side of the body. All surgically removed tumor specimens in this patient proved to be schwannomas.

The Journal of Korean Academy of Prosthodontics 1998;36(2):366-378
Post and core is used to restore endodontically treated teeth, and it is a very important part which supplies retention and support to the prosthesis. But occasionally, caries occurred due to the microleakage at the post and core and tooth interface, the failure of prosthesis has happened. In this study, the microleakage of cast gold post and core, amalgam core, and composite resin core was investigated and compared. The coronal part of the extracted upper anterior teeth were removed and endodontically treated with conventional method. The teeth were divided into three groups. In group 1, cast gold post and core was cemented with resin cement and in group 2, ready-made post was cemented with resin cement and amalgam core was built. In group 3, ready-made post was cemented with resin cement and composite resin core was built. All specimens were thermocycled between 5degrees C and 55degrees C with dwell time of 15 seconds, and immersed in 0.5degrees C aqueous solution of basic fuchsin dye for 24 hours. After embedded in the epoxy resin, the specimens were sectioned longitudinally and observed with stereomicroscope with the magnification of 25. From the findings of this study, the following conclusions were obtained. 1. There was microleakage at the core/tooth interface of all specimens. 2. The microleakage of gold post and core was significantly less than those of the other two groups. 3. There was no significant difference between the microleakage of amalgam core and that of composite resin core.
