Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1995;32(3):423-428
Bronchogenic cysts can arise either in the mediastinum or in the lung parenchyma. On both CT and T1 -weighted MR images, the cyst contents can show a variable signal characteristics. However, on T2-weighted MR images, the cyst show high signal intensity. Although unusual, the cyst may communicate with the tracheobronchial tree and demonstrate partial or complete air content. With hemorrhage, fluid-fluid levels can also be seen within the cyst. Pathologically, the diagnosis of bronchogenic cyst rests on demonstration of tissues normally found in the tracheobronchial tree within the cyst wall.

PURPOSE: This study was designed to verify intermediate-term functional and radiological results of limb salvage operation using endoprosthetic replacement system (MUTARS(R)) used in patients with a malignant bone tumor. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Thirty one cases which used MUTARS(R) tumor prosthesis were reviewed. The mean age of the patients was 49.2 years and the mean follow up was 39.8 months. We retrospectively reviewed complications, and evaluated functionally and radiologically by Enneking functional score, ISOLS radiological implants evaluation system at last follow-up. RESULTS: 3 patients had died of disease, distant metastasis was seen in 4 patients and local recurrence was seen in 1 patients. Complications were developed in 12 patients. (infection 6, leg length discrepancy 2, aseptic loosening 2, periprosthetic femoral fracture 1, screw loosening 1) Mean value of total functional scores were 81.2% in proximal femur, 77.4% in distal femur, 78.1% in proximal tibia, and 80.2% in proximal humerus. The overall radiological result was relatively satisfactory. CONCLUSION: Our results suggest limb salvage with the MUTARS(R) endoprosthesis is successful with good functional and radiological results. But we should be careful with complications such as infection.

3.Imaging Diagnosis of Asbestosis.
Journal of the Korean Medical Association 2009;52(5):465-471
Asbestosis is diffuse interstitial pulmonary fibrosis associated with asbestos fiber inhalation. The typical chest radiographic findings in asbestosis are small irregular or reticular opacities, predominating at the lung bases. Honeycombing is evident in more advanced diseases. But chest radiograph is relatively insensitive in detecting the presence of asbestosis. HRCT is more sensitive than simple chest radiograph for diagnosis of asbestosis, especially the early change of asbestosis. The early findings of asbestosis on HRCT are subpleural dotlike opacities and curvilinear opacities. As progression of fibrosis, intralobular interstitial thickening and interlobular septal thickening are presented. In advanced diseases, parenchymal bands, traction bronchiectasis or bronchiolectasis, and honeycombing are noted. These findings are typically located in lower posterior subpleural portions with bilateral symmetric patterns. Imaging findings that are compatible with asbestosis, rale, and a reduced diffusing capacity can increase confidence of diagnosis of asbestosis.

More than half of the cryptococcal infections occur in acquired immune deficiency (AIDS) patients, and more than half of the non-AIDS patients with cryptococcosis are immunocompromised. Most immunocompromised patients have meningoencephalitis at the time of diagnosis. Without the appropriate therapy, this from of the infection is invariably fatal. Death can occur any time from 2 weeks to several years after the onset of symptoms. Pulmonary crytococcosis in immunocompromised patients is usually asymptomatic, but coughing, chest pain, fever, or hemoptysis may occur in immunocompetent patients. Pulmonary cryptococcosis symptoms in immunocompetent patients tend to improve without treatment. Here, we describe the various pulmonary manifestations of cryptococcal pneumoniae in three immunocmpetent patients.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1996;35(1):53-57
PURPOSE: An oblique interface in the right cardiophrenic angle, extending superomedially from rightretrocardiac or supradiaphragmatic region inferolaterally to peridiaphragmatic region, is occasionally observed onposteroanterior chest radiograph. The aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency of visualization of the interface on chest radiographs and to elucidate its nature on radiographic-CT correlation. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Posteroanterior chest radiographs from 300 consecutive subjects were analyzed to evaluate the frequency and demographic data about an oblique interface in the right cardiophrenic angle. Thin-section CT scans(1-mmcollimation and 5-mm intervals) were obtained from the subjects with positive interface on chest radiograph for assessment of the nature of the interface. The demographic data in the subjects with and without the interface were tested statistically to note any difference between two groups. RESULTS: Oblique interface in the right cardiophrenic angle was present in 29 subjects(9.7%) on chest radiograph. The age of the subjects with positive interface(13 men and 16 women) ranged from 19 to 70 years(mean +/-SD, 47+/- 12.7 years) whereas the age of thesubijects without the interface from 16 to 82 years (mean +/-SD, 50+/-9.1 years)(p>0.1). The body weight of thesubjects with the interface ranged from 41 to 72 Kg(mean +/-SD, 60 +/- 8.0Kg) whereas the body weight of thesubjects without the interface from 41 to 85 Kg(mean +/-SD, 63+/-10.1Kg)(p>0.1). On CT scan, it was formed due tocontact between the epipericardial fat and the right middle lobe of the lung in 27 subjects(93%) and between the inferior vena cava and the medial basal segment of the right lower lobe of the lung in two(7%). CONCLUSION: Oblique interface in the right cardiophrenic angle is occasionally visualized on chest radiograph. It is formed due to contact between the right middle lobe of the lung and pericardial fat in most cases. The frequency of visualization of the interface has no relationship to age and body weight of the subjects.

Pulmonary endomertiosis is a rare disorder with the typical symptom of hemoptysis during menstruation (catamenial hemoptysis). We report a case of a 19-year-old woman, gravida 0, with 3-month history of catamenial hemoptysis which was confirmed with chest computed tomography. She was treated by means of thoracoscopic wedge resection for the right lesion and fuperior segmental resection through the left thoracotomy, successively. Preoperative fluoroscopy-guided hooking for thoracosopic target lwsion was helpful in circumstances with one lung anesthesia. Four months of follow-up after an uneventful discharge revealed out no recurrence of catamenial hemoptysis in symptoms and images.

Nutrition Research and Practice 2012;6(3):232-237
This study was done to explore the effect of Korean women's salt usage behavior on their sodium intake and excretion according to aging. Dietary sodium intake and salt usage behavior were analyzed to compare the difference between young and middle-aged women. One hundred fifty six young women and 77 middle-aged women without hypertension or any current medication were recruited. Body mass index, waist hip ratio, blood pressure were measured from each subject. Salt usage behaviors were surveyed with questionnaire, sodium intake with 24-hr recall method, and sodium excretion with spot urine. Middle-aged women were more obese than young women according to body mass index and waist hip ratio. Blood pressure was significantly higher for the middle-aged. Young women consumed more fats and middle-aged women more carbohydrates. Middle-aged women consumed more sodium and potassium, and excreted more sodium. Among questionnaire items, kimchi, soup or pot stew, or salted vegetables were found to be related with high sodium diet. Salted vegetables and salted nuts and potato chips were significantly correlated with young women's high sodium diet, while soy sauce on fried food, kimchi, salted vegetables accounted for middle-aged women's high sodium diet. With these results, we concluded that middle-aged women consumed more carbohydrates, less fat, and more sodium and potassium than young women. Middle-aged women frequently choose kimchi, soup or pot stew, or salted vegetables, and they contribute to high sodium intake. We recommend to choose low-salt kimchi, less soup or pot stew, and more fresh vegetables for lower sodium diet.

Korean Journal of Women Health Nursing 2018;24(2):105-115
PURPOSE: To investigate the subjective health and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in Haenyo. METHODS: Subjects were 100 elderly Haenyo in Jeju island who belonged to a fishing-village society. Main variables were activities of daily living (ADL), instrumental ADL (IADL), the HRQoL, subjective health, and depression. Subjective health and differences of HRQoL by variables were analyzed by t-test or ANOVA using IBM SPSS Statistics 23. Hierarchical multiple regression was executed to examine the effects of the major factors on the quality of life. RESULTS: The mean age was 69.9 years, the mean period for diving career was 51.5 years, and work hours per month were 37.8. Comorbidity of diseases was 2.74, and the common health problems were osteoporosis and headache/dizziness. HRQoL was significantly different by age (F=4.52, p=.013), education (F=6.10, p=.003), muljil work years (F=3.93, p=.050), depression (t=-3.04, p=.030), subjective health state (F=30.62, p < .01), and degenerative arthritis (F=-2.38, p=.019). In the final model by hierarchical multiple regression, ADL/IADL (β=.41, p < .001), depression (β=-.29, p < .001), and subjective health (β=.43~.51, p < .001) were significant and explained 63.5% of the total variance of HRQoL. CONCLUSION: Haenyo have specific health problems different from those of elderly women in general. ADL/IADL, depression and subjective health affected their HRQoL. It is clear that Haenyos' health problems need further study to improve their health.
