Korean Circulation Journal 2000;30(8):1035-1039
Abscence of right superior vena cava(SVC) in visceroatrial situs solitus is a rare(0.07% to 0.13%) congenital cardiovascular malformation, and little is known about the type and frequency of additional heart defects and arrhythmias. We reviewed previous publications and report the case of 8 month old male infant with absent right superior vena cava and persistent left superior vena cava and large secundum atrial septal defect, mild pulmonary valvular stenosis.

Korean Circulation Journal 1977;7(2):27-33
The antihypertensive effects fo aldactazide and serum electrolytes changes before and after treatment with aldactazide were observed. The followings were obtained: 1. Results of antihypertensive therapy with aldactazide in 23 hypertensive patients revealed good effects in 52.17%, fair in 26.09%, poor in 8.7%, and failure in 13.04% of cases. In 78.26% of cases, good or fair control of blood pressure was obtained. 2. Daily doses of aldactazide ranged from 25mg to 50mg depending upon the level of blood pressure. The antihypertensive effects were appeared after average 11 days of administration. 3. The side effects during treatment with aldactazide were dizziness, weakness, indigestion, headache, and restlessness in 26.28% of cases (6 of 23 cases). 4. No significant changes in serum Na and K values were observed before and after treatment with aldactazide for average 23 days.

5.Study of Abilities Required to Develop for Student in Nursing Education.
Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing Administration 2011;17(1):74-87
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify key abilities needed to develop for student nurses. METHODS: A methodological research design was used in this study. The abilities for student nurses were developed through literature review and educational objectives analysis of 60 nursing colleges in Korea. RESULTS: Finally, the abilities required to develop for student nurses in higher education were 8 cluster of abilities and 19 abilities such as problem solving ability, relationship ability, professional ability, ability in information processing, globalization, voluntary service. CONCLUSION: To perceive and achieve abilities for student nurses in higher education has to be needed a systematic approach in setting objectives, to improve curriculum and to develop program and educational methods.

Korean Journal of Legal Medicine 1999;23(1):48-50
The gray vibrissae of Korean males(n =189) between 15 and 75 years old and females(n =111) between-15 and 74 years old who visited the department of otorhinolaryngology, Konkuk university Chungju hospital during 1996 to 1998, were counted for the purpose of estimating approximate age range in individuals of unknown age . The lowest age appearing gray hairs in both sexes was 15-year-old. The Pearson's correlation coefficient in both sexes was 0.490 (p<0.01). The age appearing gray vibrissae in females was slightly earlier than that of males, however, the differences between right and left sides of nasal cavity were insignificant. This method of counting gray vibrissae would be useful to estimate age range in personal identification together with other methods available until now.

Korean Journal of Critical Care Medicine 2017;32(2):211-217
Acute cerebral infarctions are rare in children, however, they can occur as a complication of a Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) infection due to direct invasion, vasculitis, or a hypercoagulable state. We report on the case of a 5-year-old boy who had an extensive stroke in multiple cerebrovascular territories 10 days after the diagnosis of MP infection. Based on the suspicion that the cerebral infarction was associated with a macrolide-resistant MP infection, the patient was treated with levofloxacin, methyl-prednisolone, intravenous immunoglobulin, and enoxaparin. Despite this medical management, cerebral vascular narrowing progressed and a decompressive craniectomy became necessary for the patient's survival. According to laboratory tests, brain magnetic resonance imaging, and clinical manifestations, the cerebral infarction in this case appeared to be due to the combined effects of hypercoagulability and cytokineinduced vascular inflammation.

The polyglandular autoimmune syndrome designates the dysfunction of endocrine and nonendocrine system involving two or more organs on the basis of an autoimmune mechanism. The autoimmune nature of these diseases has been based on the presence of lymphocytic infiltration in the affected gland, organ specific autoantibodies in the serum, cellular immune defects and an association with the HLA DR/DQ genes or immune response genes. This syndrome is usually classified into three classes and their etiology or pathogenesis is still not completely understood. A 28-year-old woman developed vitiligo and insulin dependent diabetes mellitus during the treatment of Graves' disease with antithyroid drug. She had a tendency of spontaneous ketonemia and serum c-peptide levels were low(0.21, 0.16ng/mL: fasting and glucagon stimulated). Thyrotrophin binding inhibitor immunoglobulin and pancreas iIslet cell cytoplasmic antibody were positive. We report here a case of polyglandular autoimmune syndrome, type III manifesting Graves' disease, vitiligo, and insulin dependent diabetes mellitus.
