Metastatic carcinoma of the eyelid is extremely rare; Oltmans reported the first case in 1930. We experienced a case of metastatic adenocarcinoma of the left lower eyelid in a 51-year-old male patient. The lesion was clinically similar to chalazion. Histopathologic findings of biopsy revealed gastric adenocarcinoma.

Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) has led to a decline in restaurant visits, which in turn has changed the decision-making process of consumers. This study aimed to investigate the factors influencing visit intention during the COVID-19 endemic by employing the expanded theory of planned behavior. A total of 291 samples were collected through an online survey for the analysis. Confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation path analysis were performed on the collected data using the Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) statistical program. The findings of the study revealed the positive effects of attitude and perceived behavioral control and the negative effects of subjective norms on desire. Second, desire played a mediating role between antecedent variables (attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control) and the visit intention. These findings are meaningful in that they expand the theory of planned behavior during the COVID-19 endemic based on factors that affect visit intention.

This study aimed to measure and evaluate the intakes of four antioxidant trace elements, namely, Zn, Cu, Mn, and Se in 19-29y-old female university students in Korea. Diet data were collected by 3-day dietary records in 644 subjects. The mean age, height, weight and body mass index of the subjects were 20.08 years, 161.77 cm, 54.26 kg and 20.82 kg/m2, respectively. The mean, median and 25th-75th percentile intakes of Zn, Cu, Mn, and Se in the subjects were 12.83 mg (12.40 mg, 9.59 to 15.34), 1.30 mg (1.27 mg, 1.00 to 1.57), 3.19 mg (3.12 mg, 2.45 to 3.86), and 50.90 microg (50.17 microg, 37.59 to 64.35), respectively. The proportion of subjects whose Mn intake was adequate or less was 62.89%, and the proportions of subjects whose Zn, Cu and Se intakes were at the estimated average requirements or less were 10.09, 4.97, and 39.60%, respectively. The major food group for dietary intakes of Zn, Cu, Mn, and Se was cereal, providing 8.55 mg (66.60%), 0.78 mg (59.93%), 2.09 mg (65.50%), and 16.83 microg (32.43%), respectively. Many female university students were deficient in Mn and Se compared with the dietary reference intakes. Therefore, except for cereal, it is required to consume a diet consisted of various food sources for increasing the intakes of antioxidant trace minerals, especially animal food groups.

As part of the efforts to overcome the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, mass vaccination programs against the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) have been initiated. Since then, an increasing number of cutaneous adverse events associated with the COVID-19 vaccines have been reported. Lichen planus (LP) is a rare inflammatory mucocutaneous disease with various clinical presentations, although uncommon, occurring following vaccination. There have been several cases of LP reported following COVID-19 vaccination. However, there has been no report of generalized LP following the COVID-19 vaccine to our knowledge. Herein, we report a case of generalized LP following the Oxford/AstraZeneca (AZD1222) vaccine. A 68-year-old female presented with widespread, erythematous pruritic papules and plaques on the trunk and both limbs, which developed 2 to 3 days after administration of the AZD1222 vaccine. Histopathological examinations revealed cellular interface dermatitis. The patient was diagnosed with generalized LP and was successfully treated with systemic corticosteroid and cyclosporine. As the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 is ongoing and early recognition and treatment are essential to reduce the morbidity of this condition, clinicians should be aware that LP could follow COVID-19 vaccination regardless of the type of vaccine administered.

Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome(HPS) is a systemic disease that is caused by a newly discorved and characterized virus of the Hantavirus genus, which is most frequently referred to as the sin nombre virus. The clinical syndrome resembles other hantavirus syndromes worldwide, except that it is characterized by a brief prodromal illness followed by rapidly progressive, noncardiogenic edema, and that it is more deadly than any previously recognized hantavirus infection. The clinical manifestations of HPS are characterized by four clinical phases prodrome, pulmonary edema and shock, diuresis, and convalescence. Mortality is greatest in the first 24 hours of the pulmonary edema and shock phase of the illness. These phases are strikingly similar to the clinical phases of Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome(HFRS) induced by Hantaan virus, except that HPS has not been associated with renal failure and Disseminated intravascular coagulation(DIC). We here report a case of hantavirus pulmonary syndrome developed in a 58 year-old man. He had a flu-like illness followed by the rapid onset of respiratory failure due to noncardiogenic pulmonary edema. HPS was diagnosed by clinical manifestations, identification of high titer antibody to Hantaan virus antigen and histologic finding of transbronchial lung biopsy (TBLB) specimen. The patient was treated with mechanical ventilation and initial corticosteroid pulse therapy resulting in successful outcome.

PURPOSE: The Purpose of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of Helical CT in the preoperative staging of gastric carcinoma. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We performed Helical CT on 66 patients with pathologically proved gastric carcinoma. The findings were prospectively analyzed and correlated with surgical and histopathologic findings. RESULTS: The detection rate for gastric carcinoma was 88%(58/66). The rates of accuracy, understaging, and overstaging of Helical CT according to TNM staging in determining the depth of tumor invasion were 68%(45/66),23%(15/66), and 9%(6/66), respectively. In early and less advanced carcinomas(T1 & T2), the depth of tumor invasion was correctly determined in only 44%(11/25) of cases, whereas in more advanced carcinomas (T3 & T4), the corresponding figure was 83%(34/41). In lymph node staging, accuracy, understaging, and overstaging rates were 62%(41/66), 21%(14/66), and 17%(11/66), respectively. Helical CT showed a sensitivity of 48%, a specificity of97%, and an accuracy of 92% in assessing metastasis to lymph nodes. One of five cases of peritoneal carcinomatosis(20%) was correctly diagnosed by Helical CT. CONCLUSION: In the preoperative evaluation of gastriccarcinoma, Helical CT is useful in the detection of tumours and for determining the depth of tumor invasion, particularly in cases where there is serosal and adjacent organ invasion; for the evaluation of metastasis tolymph nodes and peritoneal carcinomatosis its usefulness is limited, however. Further resech will therefore be necessary.

Mature cystic teratomas of the ovary (MCT) are usually observed in women of reproductive age with the most dreadful complication being malignant transformation which occurs in approximately 1% to 3% of MCTs. In this case report, we present a patient with squamous cell carcinoma which developed from a MCT during pregnancy. The patient was treated conservatively without adjuvant chemotherapy and was followed without evidence of disease for more than 60 months using conventional tools as well as positron emission tomography-computed tomography following the initial surgery. We report this case along with the review of literature.

Background: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic pruritic inflammatory dermatosis. Whether gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) supplementation is beneficial in AD patients remains debatable. Objective: This study investigated whether adjuvant GLA supplementation is associated with clinical improvement in AD patients receiving systemic treatment, as assessed by patient-reported outcome measures. Methods: We enrolled 70 AD patients. Patients who received GLA at a dose of 80∼160 mg/d for over 1 month were included in the GLA group, while others were included in the non-GLA group. Each group was subgrouped into control, immunomodulator, and dupilumab groups based on treatment history. The patients evaluated their symptoms using the Atopic Dermatitis Control Tool (ADCT), Patient Global Assessment of Disease (PGA), and Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI). Results: The Mann-Whitney U-test was used to compare differences in ADCT, PGA, and DLQI between both groups. The ADCT scores were significantly lower in the control and immunomodulatory group supplemented with GLA (control U=13.5, p=0.04; immunomodulatory U=28.0, p=0.01), but not in patients taking dupilumab (U=44.5, p=0.70). The PGA and DLQI scores also tended to be lower in the GLA group than those in the non-GLA group. Conclusion GLA supplementation is a potential adjuvant to systemic therapy may yield additional symptomatic relief in AD patients.
