Cystadenomas are benign neoplasm in which the epithelium demonstrates adenomatous proliferation. Several morphologic variants of cystadenomas have bean described, including papillary-oncocytic, mucous, and seromucous subtypes. Cystadenomas arising from salivary glands are very rare and seromucous cystadenoma of parotid gland has not been reported in Korea so far. Cystadenomas of the parotid gland usually Present as asymptomatic slowly growing mass and those of the minor salivary glands produce smooth nodules that may be compressible. We performed a superficial parotidectomy in a patient with a seromucous cystadenoma. This may be the first report of seromucous cystadenoma of carotid gland in Korea.

Cutaneous horn is a clinical term for a circumscribed concial hyperkeratotic mass amounts to at least half of its largest diameter. The number of lesion may be single or multiple. We report herein a cases of penile cutaneous horn in a 22-year-old male. He had dark brownish colored conical shaped protruded mass on the penile shaft for about 2 months. We performed excisional biopsy and curettage. Histopathologic findings showed verruca vulgaris.

Korean Journal of Pathology 1991;25(2):174-177
Sebaceous adenoma is a rare solitary or multiple yellow, circumscribed neoplasm consisting of sharply demarcated, proliferating lobules or irregular size and shape that are composed of three cell bypes: basal cells, mature and transitional sebaceous cells. We reported a case of extremely rare sebaceous adenoma arising in caruncle of the left eye in a 78-year-old female. A polypoid tumor nodule, measuring 0.6x0.5 cm, was noticed 6 months before resection. It was grayish white with granular surface. There is no evidence of associated visceral neoplasm. Histopathologically, it revealed a lobulated tumor, composed of equal amount of highly differentiated sebaceous and intermediate transitional epithelium with minor participation of basaloid cells. This tumor is thought to be the neoplasm of the sebaceous gland normaly present in the caruncle of the eye rather than ectopic origin.

Subcutaneous granuloma annulare (SGA) is a rare, benign noninfectious histiocytic disease of unknown cause, characterized by necrobiosis of the connective tissue surrounded by infiltrates of histiocytes and lymphocytes. We report a case of SGA in a 49/12-year-old boy. The lesions were five nontender subcutaneous nodules in the parieto-occipital scalp, measuring 1.0 cm to 2.0 cm in diameter. Microscopical examination revealed variable stages of multiple necrobiotic areas, which showed central necrobiosis with palisading histiocytes, involving both the lower dermis and subcutaneous fatty tissue. Electron microscopic findings revealed many histiocytes in the necrobiotic areas with degenerating and necrotic collagen fibers as well as regenerating fibroblasts.

Effect of acetylcholine(ACh) and McN-A-343 on porcine coronary artery and rabbit thoracic aorta were investigated in isolated preparations with or without intact endothelium. In the porcine coronary artery, ACh produced concentration dependent contraction which was greater in rings without the endothelium than in intact endothelial rings, but McN-A-343 did not alter the basel tension in both tissues. ACh relaxed contraction induced by 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT) in only intact endothelial rings, while NcN-A-343 inhibited the 5-HT induced tension in both preparations dose dependently. Carbachol elicited a prominent contraction in both tissues. The carbacol-induced tension was markedly inhibited by McN-A-343 in either rings with or without endothelium, while ACh contracted further the tension. ACh and McN-A-343 did not after the KCi induced tension, but clearly potentiated the contraction induced by Bay K 8644 in intact endothelial rings. In rabbit thoracic aorta, ACh elicited contraction in a concentration-dependent fashion which was potentiated by removal of endothelium, but McN-A-343 did not affect the basal tension of both rings. ACh inhibited the 5-HT-induced contraction in only intact endothelial ring, but McN-A-343 did not change the contraction of both rings. Conclusively, ACh produces endothelium-dependent relaxation in both arteries, while McN-A-343 elevated endothelium-independent inhibition to 5-HT or carbachol-induced tension.
