The paratertiary butylphenol formaldehyde resin(PTBP-FR) is commonly used in neoprene shoe adhesive to provide stability, durability, flexibility, and to stick quickly. We report here a case of allergic contact dermatitis in a 22-year-old female, who had well defined, pruritic, erythematous, and papulovesicular lesions on the lateral side of the left foot and ankle for 3 years. Patch test showed 2+(vesicular) reaction .to PTBP-FR(1% in petrolatum), a piece of leather shoes(as is), and a piece of leather watch strap(as is).

Cutaneous metastatic tumors on the scalp from the rectum are very A 66-year-old male presented a nodule and papule an his scalp three months after surgical removal of a rectal adenocarcinorna. Biopsy specien from the scalp showed adenocarcinoma which is similar to the primary rectal carcinoma.

This study was performed to investigate the effect of octreotide on the contractility of rat vas deferens. The -smooth muscle strips isolated from the prostatic portion were myographied in isolated organ bath. Electric -field stimulation (monophasic square wave, duration : 1. mSec, voltage : 50 V, frequency : 5 Hz or 30 Hz, train : 10 Sec) produced reproducible contraction. The contraction was composed of two component, first phasic component (FPC) and second tonicc component (STC).. These contractions were abolished by -tetrodotoxin (1 microM). Octreotide inhibited the field stimulation induced contractions both FPC and STC concentration- dependently. The FPC was decreased by a desentization of purinergic receptor by pretreatment of mATP, and the STC was decreased by pr,,creatment of reserpine (3 mg/kg, EP) 24 hours before experiments. Octreotide reduced the field stimulation induced contraction in the presence of mATP and of reserpinized muscle strips. The inhibitory effect of octreotide was more potent at 5 Hz than at 30 Hz. Octreotide did not affect basal ton and exogenous norepinephrine- or ATP-induced contraction. These results suggest that octreotide inhibit the contractility of the isolated rat vas deferens by inhibition of the release of neurotransmitters, both ATP and norepinephrine from adrenergic nerve terminal.

Lymphangiectasia is a rsre occurrence, and may be due to an undgrlying disturbance of the lymph flow following surgery or irrediation. We present an unusual case of an extensive lymphangictasia of the vulva following radical abdominal hysterectomy and irradiation for cervical cancer.

Microvascular tissue transfers have facilitated primary closure of various complex defects after radical ablation of head and neck cancers. From Oct 1991 to Feb 1992, we used forearm free flap in two patients and delto-pectoral flap in one patient who had preoperative irradiation for pharyngoesophageal reconstruction. The stricture and fistula formation were most troublesome complication in forearm free flap, so we designed as lazy S shape in distal flap margin to prevent circular contraction and longitudinal margin was deepithelialized (5 mm) and sutured double layer to withstand fistular formation and this can be considered useful in place of a free jejuna transfer.

Purpose: We present a case of a subconjunctival abscess formation with periorbital cellulitis following scleral buckling (SB) and pars planar vitrectomy (PPV).Case summary: A 51-year-old female patient came to our hospital with complaints of ocular pain and discharge in the right eye. The patient underwent SB and several times of PPV for multiple rhegmatogenous retinal detachment due to acute retinal necrosis. The onset of symptoms was 9 months after the last vitrectomy. A subconjunctival abscess was seen at 8 o'clock position on slit lamp, and periorbital cellulitis was observed on computed tomography image, the patient underwent an incision and drainage (I&D) surgery. Another 9 months later, a subconjunctival abscess was newly found at 4 o'clock position. Since the abscess site and the position of the stitch which sutured the buckle sponge was exactly same, the cause of infection was thought to be the sponge suture materials. Along with I&D surgery, the suture at the end of the sponge was removed. After then, conjunctival and periorbital inflammation got improved and the patient is still in the process of examination to date. Conclusions Subconjunctival abscess or periorbital cellulitis is a rare complication of SB, caused by the use of an exogenous materials such as silicon sponge or suture stitches. Therefore, when ocular pain or inflammation is observed in SB patients, early detection and active treatment is required for suspected periorbital cellulitis.

Various methods of taking of optic foramen view and avalubilities have been studied by many foreigninvistigators, but those in Korea have not been reported yet. The authors have measured and examined the size andshapes of optic foramina of optic foramen views in 111 Korean checked at Inje Medical College Hospital duringabout 3 years form June 1979 to March 1982. The cases were divided into gwo groups, A and B, for the convenienceof study. Group A consisted of 50 normal Korean 5 to 55 years of age with no visual symptoms and signs. Group Bincluded 69 patients 3 to 75 yrs of age with visual symptoms and signs. The results were as follows; 1. Mean valueof actual diameter of optic foramen meassured by Goalwin's method in Group A; Right; A diameter; 4.21mm, Bdiameter; 4.32mm, Left; A diameter; 4.29mm, B diameter; 4.30mm. 2. Absolute symmetry of the greatest diameters ofboth optic foramina in Group A; 36%, difference of 0.5 or lessl 28%, from 0.5 to 1.0mm; 18%, from 1.0 to 1.5mm;8%, uncomparable cases; 10%. The greatest difference was 1.4mm. 3. The shapes of optic foramen in Group A; ovalshape; 65%, circular ; 29%, keyhole or double foramen; 6%. 4. In Goup B, the peak age group was second decade(31%), the most comon clinical cause of examiniation of optic foramen view was optic nerve atrophy(30%), and thepathologic findings were only 4 cases(7%). 5. The technique of optic foramen view by modified Pfeiffer's methoddelineated the outline of optic foramen more clearly than ordinary Rhese's method in our experience.
