BACKGROUND/AIMS: Telemedicine is a convenient and efficient tool for remote education in various fields. The telemedicine system can also be used to educate doctors and medical students. The aim of our study was to establish the effectiveness of the telemedical system for use in a live endoscopic multichannel demonstration conference and to test the effectiveness and usefulness of a multicenter-based live endoscopic demonstration through live, interactive, high resolution video transmission using advanced networks and the digital video transport system (DVTS). METHODS: This study is a prospective multicenter pilot study. A live demonstration of an endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and an endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) using advanced network technology was performed. RESULTS: The DVTS successfully transmitted uncompressed, high-resolution, digital lectures with endoscopy video during a multichannel endoscopic live demonstration of ESD and ERCP over multiple advanced networks. The overall satisfaction rating when the endoscopic lecture demonstration was performed by combining DVTS was generally good. CONCLUSIONS: We believe that a multicenter-based live endoscopic demonstration is a very effective conferencing method when using advanced networks and DVTS.

3.Participating 16th European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Disease Summer School.
Annals of Clinical Microbiology 2018;21(2):36-39
The Korean Society of Clinical Microbiology (KSCM) has supported participation in the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Disease (ESCMID) Summer School for several years. The school is held every year in Europe for one week and in 2017 was held at the Borstel Research Center, located in Borstel, a small town near Hamburg, Germany. A total of 80 participants from 26 countries attended and included 42.5% (34) males, 57.5% (46) females, and most were residents. The summer school was held for 6 days except for moving time, and there were 29 lectures, 4 small group tutorials, and 80 student presentations. The lecture subject areas included overall topics of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. Experts from all over Europe gave lectures explaining the basics as well as recent discoveries. Small group tutorials were mainly focused on tuberculosis. Student presentations included active discussions by the students regarding their research subjects or cases. There were also social events such as dinners, visiting museums, cruise ship excursions, and watching outdoor play. Based on personal experience, I recommend young KSCM members attend the ESCMID Summer School because communicating with people from various countries broadens horizons despite a long itinerary and a busy schedule.

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2009;29(6):495-497
In order to explore the problems and countermeasure in the methodology of acupuncture and moxibustion clinical researches at present, clinical research literatures about acupuncture and moxibustion (Acup-Mox) published in recent years in our country were reviewed. For the urgent need of the current internationalization of Acup-Mox, the authors proposed the model of clinical research on Acup-Mox, which should strictly stick to the international standard and fully embody traditional Chinese medicine characteristics in the intervention measures of acupuncture. It is indicated that innovation of the methodology about clinical researches of Acup-Mox has great significance in improving the quality of clinical research on Acup-Mox in our country and promoting internationalization of Acup-Mox.
