1.Web-based Monitoring of Infant Incubators.

Infant Incubator is the most important equipment in a infant ICU. This maintain adequate temperature and humidity for survival of infants. The final object of this research is Web-based monitoring of several infant incubators in ICU. To realize these objects, we developed a temperature/humidity sensing module which is interfaced to Web server board via RS485 port. We used a small micro controller in each sensing module. So the size of this module is small enough to be attached to incubator. We can access each sensing module with RS485 port on Web server board via network. As a first trial, we networked 4 infant incubators. The operator can send alarms to each incubator and these alarms are indicated with sounds and lights on measurement module. Our system can increase the convenience by a intensive central monitoring, so instant handling to some kinds of accident is possible.

2.Study on Adverse Events of Infant Incubator Products.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the risk of adverse events in the clinical use of infant incubators of three kinds of national medical devices in Zhejiang Province.
METHODS:
Semi-quantitative matrix analysis was used to analyze the risk of adverse events related to incubator products in Zhejiang province from August 2018 to August 2019.
RESULTS:
Through the risk analysis of 213 cases of adverse events of infant incubator product, the risk point and degree of the product in practical clinical application were evaluated.
CONCLUSIONS
Through the evaluation results of the production enterprises, medical institutions put forward relevant recommendations to reduce the risk of product use to prevent the recurrence of serious adverse events in the use of the product and spread.

3.System Integration of Infant Incubators' Quality Control Testing Based on MCU.

This study is aimed to design the testing system of multiple parameters of the incubators, and to make their quality control plans. Also it is required to establish a model of data collection and processing based on MCU, and to program the host computer software in order to analyze data. The result shows that the testing system is accurate and stable; also it is convenient to collect the data. This testing system is a good complement of the quality control of incubators. It has a high practical value in improving medical safety and reducing the occurrence of adverse events.

4.Simulation and Design of Infant Incubator Assembly Line.

According to current assembly situation of infant incubator in company A, basic industrial engineering means such as time study was used to analyze the actual products assembly production and an assembly line was designed. The assembly line was modeled and simulated with software Flexsim. The problem of the assembly line was found by comparing simulation result and actual data, then through optimization to obtain high efficiency assembly line.

5.Discussion on the On-site Inspection Scheme of Using Infant Incubator.

6.Centralized management strategy of the infant incubators in NICUs.

There are many problems existing at present in the incubator applications and management. Among them, the prominent problems are their cleaning and disinfection. 7.Effects of Cycled Lighting on Circadian Rhythms of Premature Infants.

PURPOSE: Instead of a chaotic non circadian environmental approach, continuing regular day-night rhythm in neonatal nurseries may benefit the development of preterm infants. The purpose of this study was to define the effects of cycled lighting on circadian rhythms of premature infants. METHODS: The experimental group included 15 preterm infants, and the control group, 15 premature infants in the NICU of a general hospital in Seoul. All infants were between 32 and 37 weeks' postconceptional age. The experimental group infants were provided with cycled lighting before discharge. The incubator or bassinet cover of the experimental group was off between 7 AM and 7 PM, and was covered between 7 PM and 7 AM. RESULTS: There were significant differences in the NNNS score (p=.039), and some significant differences in the sleep-activity pattern between the experimental group and the control group, but distinct differences in sleep-activity patterns between the two groups could not be defined. CONCLUSION: The results of this study suggest that cycled lighting can be helpful in the neurobehavioral development of preterm infants. By modifying the NICU environment to provide a more developmentally supportive milieu, nursing professionals can better meet the infants' physiologic and neurobehavioral needs.

8.Normal Serum TSH Concentrations in Korean Newborn Infants and Children.

To obtain normal serum TSH concentrations in newborn infants and children and to observe the effect of body cooling on serum TSH concentrations during the early postnatal period, the author studied ten newborn infants and one hundred and twenty-two normal and healthy subjects from 3 days to 16 years of age. Immediately after delivery, a group of five newborn infants were placed in a warmed incubator(35-37degrees C) and another group of five newborn infants were placed in a crib at room temperature (22-30degrees C) during the first 48 hours of life. Total two hundred twenty-one blood samples including ten maternal blood, ten cord blood, and umbilical arterial blood drawn through an indwelling catheter at 10, 30, and 60 minutes. 1,2,3 and 4 hours, and femoral venous blood sampled at 24 and 48 hours of life from ten newborn infants were measured by applying radioimmunoassay technique. The results are as follows: 1. Mean TSH concentration was significantly higher in cord blood (10.5 microU/ml) compared to maternal blood(6.6microU/ml). This finding suggests a fetal-maternal highly significant TSH gradient at term. 2. In the early postnatal period, serum TSH concentrations increased rapidly to peak level (mean of 74.0microU/ml) at 30 minutes of life and then fell very gradually to mean concentration of 10.3microU/ml at 48 hours of life-the level close to the cord blood concentration of 10.5microU/ml. 3. Mean serum TSH concentrations of various age groups were 10.6microU/ml in neonates of age 3-7 days, 8.1microU/ml in infants of 1-12months, 5.7microU/ml in preschool children of age 1-5 years, 5.8microU/ml in school children of age 6-11 years, and 4.5microU/ml in adolescents of age 12-16 years. 4. The infants group placed at room temperature reached higher peak serum TSH concentrations sooner than the infants group placed in incubators. This difference suggests that extrauterine cooling is capable of increasing TSH secretion in the normal neonates. The elevation in serum TSH concentrations observed in incubated infants indicates that neonatal hyperthyrotropinemia could be caused by stimuli other than exposure to cold.

9.Spinal Ultrasonography in Newborns and Infants with Cutaneous Manifestation of Spinal Dysraphism.

The most important spinal disorders in childhood are malformations and mass lesions. High-resolution, real-time ultrasonography of the spine enables the differentation of intraand paraspinal structures in a significant way. This examination does not require sedation, does not use radiation, can be performed in the nursery or an incubator and is less expensive than computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging. The sonographic appearence of the various kinds of spinal dysraphism is demonstrated and illustrated. Based on our preliminary experience spinal sonography appears to be useful in neonates and infants as the first imaging device for differentiation of cmplex malformation and as a screeing method for occult spinal dysraphism.

10.A Study on a Low Power Telemetry System for Infant Incubators.

As wireless network technology and various mobile communication equipments have widely used and rapidly developed, many research workers are studying about a measurable system for several medical data or bio-signals, such as electrocardiogram, pulse-oximetry and so forth, by wireless. And, even generic people who are in a good state of health as well as patients in the hospital, whose concern and care about healthcare has increased greatly, so many research workers are studying about Ubiquitous Healthcare of new technology. This technology will offer natural medical services freely in anywhere and in a quiet way, even if people can not go to hospital. Our research made a possibility to measure environment data in each infant incubator by using temperature and humidity sensor, prior to measure directly bio-signals of patients. Each sensor was composed of wireless network based on TinyOS, and that wireless network connected to Personal Digital Assistants(PDA). So we were studied about telemetry system by using wireless sensor network. It was researches about telemetry system to measure environment data in infant incubator before, by web-based RF modules. But they has problems that incubator's movement restriction by wire, wire net's limitation. We solved these problems by organizing wireless sensor network that connected together sensors and measurement devices. This wireless sensor network organization, based on TinyOS, is possible to receive sensor's data of long distance by a relay station and to save power. In future, this network will be basic of Ubiquitous Healthcare as well as medical information system in hospital.
