2.Studies on the intradermal reactions with the fractions of Ascaris lumbricoides.
The Korean Journal of Parasitology 1967;5(1):17-34
The intradermal studies with the fraction of Ascaris lumbricoides and Toxocara canis were performed to human and dog, and the following results were observed. Wheal and erythema were appeared in the cases of ascaris infection or who had past history, but not in the ascaris free before. The size of wheal reached to peak 30 minutes after the injection. The crude antigen had specificity and showed no cross reaction. The crude antigen cause the strongest and largest reaction than the other substances; protein, polysaccharide and the mixed antigen. No cutaneous reaction was observed with the fraction of polysaccharides. The size of wheal did not parallel with the worm burden. The skin reaction was appeared four weeks after the infection.

3.Studies on the Vascular Sclerosis in Hypertensive Disease.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1965;6(2):11-23
The author investigated 100 hypertensive patients (199 eyes) on their brachial blood pressure, ophthalmic blood pressure, Fritz's index, sclerotic changes in retinal vessels, and P.S.P. test. The vascular changes of the retina were classified according to the Keith-Wagener scheme, and the sclerotic changes were represented by the point system. For the evaluation of circulatory status of the carotid system, r(s)/r(d)-carotis ratio and cerebrovascular resistance (CVR) were also calculated. The relationships between these data were studied and their results were as follows: (1) There was a linear correlation between mean ophthalmic blood pressure and mean brachial blood pressure, the correlation coefficient being plus 0.83. (2) There was also a linear relationship between fundus changes and mean ophthalmic blood pressure. The more advanced the grade of Keith-Wagener classification and the sclerotic changes, the higher the mean ophthalmic blood pressure. The rise of the mean ophthalmic blood pressure as more marked in K-W grade III, IV, and in grade IV sclerosis. (3) There was a close relationship between P.S.P. test, mean ophthalmic blood pressure and brachial blood pressure. The renal function was disturbed in patients with higher mean ophthalmic blood pressure. (4) The decrease of r(s)/r(d) carotis was always accompanied by the increase of Fritz's index, severity of sclerotic changes in the retina and advancement of the grade of K-W classification. (5) In patients with normal P.S.P. value, there was no single case of advanced sclerosis (more than 10 points of sclerosis). r(s)/r(d) carotis ratio was generally over 1.0. In patients with low P.S.P. value, however, the retinal vascular sclerosis shoshowed more marked changes, and r(s)/r(d) carotis ratio failed below 1.0. (6) Generally, there was a tendency of the increase in the CVR in accordance with the increase in Fritz's index and sclerotic changes. Moreover, functional disturbance of the kidney was usually associated with higher CVR. (7) The author proposed the possibilities that CVR value more than 0.5 or r(s)/r(d)-carotis ratio below 1.0 might represent the advanced sign of vascular sclerosis, disturbance of kidney function.

5.Epizoological survey on infestation rate of helminths in Korean native cattle..
The Korean Journal of Parasitology 1971;9(2):54-57
The authors made a study on the species and distribution of helminths in Korean native cattle. The feces and internal organs from 1,755 heads were examined in slaughter plants of Taejon district. The results are summarized as follows. Distribution and infestation rate of helminths among the collected samples are, Paramphistomum spp. 68.4 per cent, Fasciola spp. 48 per cent, Eurytrema spp. 23.5 per cent, Moniezia spp. 8 per cent, Dictyocaulus spp. 3.5 per cent, Trichostrongylus spp. 12.4 per cent, and other species 26.8 per cent, respectively. In 33.4 per cent of ths cases, single infestation was seen and in 31.5 per cent, 18.0 per cent, and 14.0 per cnet mixed infestation of double, triple, and quadruple or more species were seen, respectively. Geographical analysis of infested helminths in the native cattle indicates: Among the trematoda order, Paramphistomum spp. and Fasciola spp. showed high rate of infestation throughout all districts of the country, especially Cheju island with a significant higher rate. Central district (Taejon) was higher in number of native cattle infested with Fasciola spp. than any other district of the country investigated. The rate of infestation with cestoda also showed to be higher in Cheju island than any other district of main land, but the rate of infestation with other nematoda showed no geographical difference.

Korean Journal of Urology 1967;8(2):85-88
A clinical observation was made on the bladder tumors of the inpatients in the Department of Urology, Seoul National University Hospital during the period January. 1957 through June, 1967. During the period, of 1.836 cases (1,372 males and 464 females) hospitalized, 99 cases had bladder tumors, giving a rate of 5.3%. Among the 99 cases, 88 cases could be studied and the following results were obtained. 1. Among the 88 cases, 68 cases were male and 20 cases were female with ratio of 3.4 to 1. 2. Age distribution ranged from 22 years to 79 years, 70.5% of cases were in the age group of 4o~69. 3. Hematuria which occurred in 80 cases is the most common initial disturbance. The other common manifestations are frequency, dysuria and urinary retention as in order. 4. 54 cases or 61.5% of the cases visited to hospital within one year after the occurrence of initial disturbance. 5. 37.8% of the cases involved in the lateral wall, 30.7% in the posterior wall, 12.1% in the entire wall and 7.9% in the trigone. 6. As the methods of treatments, T.U.R. was performed 43 times, 29 time of electrocoagulation through suprapubic cystotomy and 12 times of partial resection of the bladder were done. 7. Among 88 cases, pathologic diagnosis was made in 72 cases. Transitional cell carcinoma is observed in 62 cases, adenocarcinoma in 4 cases, metastatic carcinoma in 3 cases and squamous cell carcinoma in 1 case. 8. 27 (30.7%) cases had had follow-up studies one or more times for 2 months to six and half years. At the first follow-up study 6 cases were tumor free and 21 cases had recurrent tumors.

10.Clinical Observation on Vesicoureteral Reflex Following Renal Tuberculosis.
Korean Journal of Urology 1975;16(3):153-155
Clinical observation on vesicoureteral reflux following renal tuberculosis were obtained 46 cases of renal tuberculosis seen at N. P. H. during the period from April 1971 to April 1975. 1) Demonstrable vesicoureteral reflux were 27 cases with cystogram, voiding cystogram, retrograde cystogram and I. V. P. 2) Retrograde cystogram showed a highest peak in occurrence of vesicoureteral reflux. 3) The incidence of bladder Tb. and vesicoureteral reflux secondary to renal Tb. among these patients, in 50% of the cases occurred from marked contracted bladder and 2% from the bladder having normal capacity. In the presence of renal Tb. and vesicoureteral reflux mentioned above, the most frequent observable change was in marked contracted bladder, and it showed that their incidence were increased by severity of extent of bladder contraction.
