4.Psychosocial Rehabilitation of Chronic Depression.
Journal of the Korean Society of Biological Psychiatry 1999;6(1):30-33
While depression is certainly a prevalent disorder, it is often severe and debilitating and does not always have the good prognosis we have been led to expect. Social approaches to affective disorders have not been subjected to the same level of scrutiny as the interventions used in the management of schizophrenia. Psychosocial Rehabilitation is now at a critical stage. Psychoeducation, social skill training, cognitive remediation, family education, vocational rehabilitation and case management programs are essential for the rehabilitation of chronic depression.

Korean Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 2000;43(11):1979-1982
OBJECTIVE: It is widely accepted that the estrogen plays an important role in the maintenance of bone mineral density (BMD). The purpose of this study is to compare the BMD between premature ovarian failure (POF) patients and spontaneous menopausal women, both of which are characterized by estrogen deficiency. METHOD: We compared the BMD of Lumbar 2-4 and Femur neck(right) measured by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry in 17 premature ovarian failure patients and 21 spontaneous menopausal women. RESULTS: POF patients and spontaneous menopausal women showed the BMD of 1.000+/-0.165g/cm2, 1.167+/-0.279g/cm2 at Lumbar 2-4 and 0.793+/-0.132g/cm2, 0.885+/-0.128g/cm2 at Femur neck, respectively. POF patients had lower BMD of Lumbar 2-4 and Femur neck significantly(p<0.05). FSH and estradiol level were not different between the two groups. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrated that the BMD in POF patients was decreased more severely than that of spontaneous menopausal women. Therefore, more preventive measures against bone loss is required in POF patients than spontaneous menopausal women.

7.A ClinicoPathological Study of Lipomatous Tumors.
Korean Journal of Pathology 1988;22(1):57-62
Lipomatous tumors represent a common group of neoplasm in adult life usually presented as a mass. Authors reviewed 872 benign liopmatous tumors and 39 liposarcomas in the Department of pathology, SNUH during last 10 years (1978-1987). Among the benign lipomatous tumors, the ordinary lipomas consisted of 80.8%, followed by angiolipomas (11.4%), fibrolipomas (2.3%), intramuscular lipomas (1.8%), and angiomyolipomas (1.4%). Most of the benign lipomatous tumors occurred at adult life and were rare in infancy and childhood except for lipoblastoma. In our series, the peak age of liposarcoma at the time presentation was 50 to 60 years, and the youngest age was 17 years. The myxoid type was the most common and it accounted for 38.5% of the cases. The two major sites were the extremities and retroperitoneum. Thirteen cases out of 39 liposarcomas had recurred and 2 cases had lymph node metastases at the time of presentation.

8.Nurses' Clinical Competence and Its Relationship with Perception of and Compliance with Standard Precautions.
Korean Journal of Health Promotion 2012;12(1):40-46
BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to investigate nurses' clinical competence and its relationship with perception of and compliance with standard precautions. METHODS: From January 12 to January 20, 2011, a total of 134 nurses working at a university hospital in Gyeonggi province completed a structured questionnaire on clinical competence and perception of and compliance with standard precautions. The data were analyzed with independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance, and Pearson's correlation analysis. RESULTS: The mean score for clinical competence was 3.53, and showed significant differences according to age, gender, education level, marital status, monthly income, and years of experience. The mean scores for perception of and compliance with standard precautions were 4.67 and 4.00 respectively. Perception of standard precautions showed a significant difference according to years of experience. There were significant positive correlations among clinical competence and perception (r=0.234, P=0.007), clinical competence and compliance (r=0.363, P<0.001), and perception and compliance (r=0.406, P<0.001). CONCLUSIONS: To improve nurses' compliance with standard precautions educational and administrative policies to improve clinical competence should be considered.
