2.Mediating Effect of Academic Emotion Regulation on the Relationship Between Self-Determined Learning Motivation and Learning Flow in Nursing Students in Remote Online Classes
Journal of Korean Academy of Fundamental Nursing 2024;31(2):225-233
Purpose:
This descriptive research study explores the relationship between remote online classes, nursing students’ self-determined learning motivation and learning flow, to identify the mediating effect of academic emotion regulation.
Methods:
The study sample comprised 147 third- and fourth-year nursing students from two universities in Jeonbuk State, all of whom had clinical practice experience. Descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, and one-way analysis of variance were conducted using SPSS/WIN 23.0 for data analysis. Hayes’ PROCESS macro Version 3.5 was used to verify the significance of the indirect effects of the variables.
Results:
Self-determined learning motivation had a significant positive effect on the mediating variable, academic emotion regulation(β=.21, p=.001), and on learning flow. Additionally, academic emotion regulation significantly positively influenced learning flow. When considering the mediating effect of academic emotion regulation, the indirect effect size between self-determined learning motivation and learning flow was .07, with a bootstrapping confidence interval ranging from 0.02 to 0.13, excluding zero, which was statistically significant, indicating a mediating effect.
Conclusion
The findings confirm that academic emotion regulation is a crucial variable that can enhance students’ learning flow, thereby maximizing educational effectiveness during rapid changes in online education methods. Consequently, educational programs should be developed that consider the emotional aspects of learning to improve academic emotion regulation. Furthermore, universities should establish educational policies and measures that expand various digital education platforms to reflect and respond to the online education environment.
3.The File Method to Detect the Causative Organisms of Tinea Unguium.
Jong Seok HWANG ; Soon Bong SUH
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1986;24(5):613-617
In order to increase the positive rate of cultre for dermatophyte infections of the nails, the authors devised the new file method. It is to perform the KOH mount arid culture with fine subungual hyperkeratotic debris obtained from the hyponycLium after grinding the nail plate from the surface to the bottom using various files, And we compared the result of this new method with that of conventional scraping and punch methods in 40 toenails and ]1 fingernails. The positive rate of culture for tinea unguium by three different methods was as follows: It was 52.5%(21 cases) through conventional scraping method, 70% (28 cases) through punch method and 80% (32 cases) through file method in the 40 toenai ls. lt was 18.2% (2 cases) through punch method, 27. 3% (3 sases) through scraping method and 54. 6%(6 cases) through file method in the 11'fingernails. In conclusion, the file method was found to be a more effective and successful method to detect the causative organisms of tinea unguium and was also easy to handle.

Soon Yol HWANG ; Kang Suek SUH
Korean Journal of Pathology 1986;20(1):26-34
The author has studied the 111 cases of salivary gland epithelial tumors which confirmed clinically and pathologically during the period of 11 years and 7 months from 1973 to 1984 at Pusan National University Hospital. The results of the study were summarized as follows: 1) Among 111 cases of salivary gland epithelial tumors, benign tumors were 72 cases (64.9%) and malignant tumors 39 cases (35.1%). The male to female ratio of overall salivary gland epithelial tumors was 1 to 1.6. Mean age of benign tumors was 39.6 years old and that of malignant tumors 44.6. 2) The analysis of the salivary gland epithelial tumors in histologic type revealed 63 cases (56.8%) of pleomorphic adenoma, 14 cases (12.6%) of the mucoepidermoid carcinoma, 11 cases (9.9%) of adenoid cystic carcinoma, 4 cases (3.6%) of adenolymphoma and adenocarcinoma, respectively. 3) The incidence of salivary gland epithelial tumors was found to be in the major salivary gland in 62 cases (56.9%), in the major salivary gland in 47 cases (43.1%), preferably involving parotid gland in 38 cases (34.9%), palate in 29 cases (26.6%), submandibular gland in 20 cases (18.3%) in order of frequency. 4) The mean size of benign salivary gland epithelial tumors was 3.5 cm in diameter and that of malignant 3.6 cm. Therefore, that size of both benign and malignant tumors was not significantly different. The mean duration of chief complaints of salivary gland epithelial tumors was 5 years and 3 months in benign type, 2 years and 4 months in malignant type, approximately half of the benign tumors. 5) The most frequent manifestation in malignant tumors was palpable mass 89.7%(benign : 97.2%), pain 23.1%, ulcer and hemorrhage 15.4%, respectively, et al., whereas, that of benign tumors was exophthalmos 5.6%, ulcer 4.2%, et al. In order of frequency. 6) Among the 67 cases of pleomorphic adenoma, 4 cases (6.0%) of them were malignant type.

6.Passive Manipulation for the Treatment of Frozen Shoulder
Sung Kwan HWANG ; Jong Soon KIM
The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1989;24(5):1434-1438
The treatment of frozen shoulder should initially be conservative, with the emphasis on passive stretching of the capsular structures. If the patient's clinical progress stalls or the condition worsens, and his or her life style is disturbed enough, manipulation under gerneral anesthesia is indicated. The Authors practiced the passive manipulation under the general anesthesia on 7 patients of frozen shoulder, who had been treated at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Yonsei University, Wonju College of Medicine, from March 1988 to April 1989. The results obtained were as follows:l. All seven patients achieved nearly full range of motion with minimal or no pain. 2. After 3 months of follow-up, all seven patients showed neither signs of readhesions nor recurrence of pain. 3. There were no complications, such as humerus shaft fracture and dislocation of shoulder.

7.A Case Report of Traumatic Bilateral Bislocation of the Hip
Byung Yun HWANG ; Hyung Soon KIM
The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1971;6(1):79-82
Bilateral dislocation of the hip was observed in a 44-year-old man after the accident that he was overrun from backward by a slowly approaching goods-train. Successful manual reduction was obtained, followed by one month cast immobilization and partial weight bearing exercise thereafter. Peroneal palsy of right extremity, noted immediately after the dislocation, showed the prospect of good recovery. The mechanism of injury was also discussed.

Korean Journal of Gynecologic Oncology and Colposcopy 1996;7(2):127-134
For evaluation of the response and toxicity of the combination chemotherapy, forty six patients with malignant ovarian tumors who had prior surgery were treated with combination chemotherapy from January 1985 to March 1991 at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Kyung-pook National University Hospital. The results were as follows : 1. The responses were in complete 20 cases(43.5%), in partial 9 cases(19,6%), in stable 6 cases(13.0%), in progressive 11 cases(23.9%) among 46 patients. 2. By the response rates of various combination chemotherapy regimens, the response rate of CAP was 64%(16/25), CP 57.1%(8/14), VAC 100%(3/3), VBP 50%(1/2), FAM 0%(0/1), and Melphalan 100%(1/1) respectively. 3. As the chemotoxicities of combination chemotherapy, leukopenia 20 cases(46.5%), thrombocytopenia 2 cases(4.7%), anemia 20 cases(46.5%), nephrotoxity 6 cases(14.6%), hepatotoxicity 7 cases(18.4%) were observed.
