1.Autologous fat injection and collagen impantation for the correction of facial atroply.
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1993;31(5):823-828
We present our experience with autologous fat injection and collager implantation in the treatment of facial atrophy. The surgical teclinigues are described for injecting the colagen into the nasolabial fold and collecting fat from the lower abdomen and then injecting the fat into the depressed site on the face. There were no serious complications without slowly progressive, volume reduction. We think that, these techniques could have a plae in the treatment of problems relatcd to facial depression. However, a longer follow-ups and more clinical experiences will be needed in order to reach some definite conclusions.

Korean Journal of Urology 1982;23(8):1148-1154
Restoration of functional and anatomic changes of kidney in UPJ stricture is one of most important subjects in urology. A clinical observation was made on the 28 cases (29 kidneys) of pyeloplasties for UPJ stricture from Jan. 1976 to Dec. 1981. Of them 20 cases (21 kidneys) were followed up for more than 6 months postoperatively. The following results were obtained; 1. The patients in this series were 22 males and 6 females, and 11 children and 17 adults. The left side was 3 times more frequently affected than the right. They symptoms on admission were mostly flank pain, palpable mass, and etc. 2. Preoperative status of UPJ was; UPJ stricture alone in 20, UPJ stricture with aberrant vessel in 4, UPJ stricture with stone in 3, and UPJ stricture with vesicoureteral reflux in 1 case. 3. Preoperative grade of hydronephrosis was closely related to each other in the functional and anatomic aspects of kidney. In general, children showed relatively more advanced hydronephrosis than adults and the degree of improvement of hydronephrosis postoperatively was similar to each other. 4. Anderson Hynes' method of pyeloplasty in most cases (20 kidneys) and simple pyeloureterostomy in 9 kidneys were performed, and results between both operations showed no difference. But Anderson Hynes' method was more effective in marked hydronephrosis such as giant hydronephrosis and simple pyeloureterostomy in mild hydronephrosis. 5. In cases in which UTI was present preoperatively, postoperative UTI tended more to persist than in those not complicated with preoperative UTI, and in both sides postoperative UTI mostly persisted for 2 months and disappeared within 6 months. 6. The period of nephrostomy and ureteral stent was not directly related to postoperative results, but nephrostomy without ureteral stent relatively showed good results. 7. Postoperative complication was UTI in 2, re-do pyeloplasty in 1 and secondary nephrectomy in 1 case. 8. Improvement Of hydronephrosis continued for about a year after operation. It is recommended that more careful attention should be paid for the first year and be continued to watch for consecutive 2 years.

4.Increased expression of the c-fos and c-myc oncogenes in psoriatic lesions.
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1991;29(3):331-336
The expression of the c-fos and c-myc oncogenes was investigated by dot blot analysis of total RNA extracted from biopsies of normal skin and psoriatic lesions. Densitometric analysis revealed 6.3 fold and 8.6 fold evevation respectively of c-fos and c-myc oncogenes mRNA levels in severe psoriasis compared to normal skin, and 1.5 fold and 1.6 fold elevation respectively of c-fos and c-myc oncogenes mRNA levels in mild psoriasis compared to normal skin. The ratio of c-fos/c-myc transcripts in normal skin and mild psoriasis was constant compared to that in severe psoriasis. The maintenance of a constant ratio of c-fos/c-myc is believed to be closely related to ordered cell growth and the ratio of c-fos/c-myc transcripts in severe psoriasis suggests a disordered pattern of cellular differentiation. We be1ieve that overexpression of these oncogenes is related to the pathogenesis of psoriatic epidermal hyperplasia.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1986;24(1):16-21
In order to measure the MPD with 8-methoxypsoralen, we selected 49 Korean healthy male vlunteers without phototoxic or photosensitive dermatoses. They were divided to 3 groups (Immediate; group 1, 1 hour; group 2, 2 hours', group 3) according to the waiting time, intervals of application of photosensitizer a,nd UVA:irradiation. The reaults were summarized as follows: 1. MPDs of group 1 had no clinical significance. 2, MPDs of group 2 were more than those of group '3 independently of application methods of photosensitizer. 3. In the cases of topical application of 8-MOP, MPDs of group 3 according to reading interval (24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours after UVA irradiation) were 3.4+/-2.9 J/cm2, 1.9+/-l.5 J/cm' and l. 7+1, 2/cm, respectively. 4 In the cases of oral administration of 8-MOP, MPDs of group 3 according to reading; interval as topical application of 8-MOP were 7.1+/-2.3 J/cm, 4.4+/-1.1 J/ cm2 and 4.2+/-l.2 J/cm2, respectively. 5 MPL)s accarding to the skin types as follows; (waiting time; 2 hours, read- ing interval; 48 hours) a. In the case of topical application of 8-MOP, MPDs of the skin type ]II, 1V and V were 0.9+/-0.5 J/cm2, 1.8+/-1.1 J/cm2 and 3.0+/-l.3 J/cm2 respectively. b. In the case of oral administration of 8-MOP, MPDs of skin type g, W and were 3.5+/-1.1 J/cm2, 4.7+/-1.3 J/cm2 and 6.9+/-l.8 J/cm2, respectively.

6.Invasive thymoma; radiologic evaluation by computed tomography
Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1985;21(2):237-245
In 6 cases of invasive thymoma proved histologically from 1981 to 1984 in Yonsei University Medical Center, the CT findings and pattern were analysed. The results were as follows 1. Of 6 case, 4 were males and 2 werefemales. All cases were between 40-64 years and the average was 51 year old. 2. Of 6 cases, 2 female patients wereassociated with myasthenia gravis. 3. By the histological examination, 2 were confirmed as mixed cell type, 2spindle cell type, 1 lymphocytic type and 1 epithelial cell type. 4. CT findings of invasive thymoma were 1) Adiscrete but lobulated and irregular marginated soft tissue mass in the superoanterior mediastinum replacing thenormal mediastinal fat tissue. 2) Usually irregular low density areas within the mass suggesting central necrosisor calcification in 1 of 6 cases was noted. 3) Local invasiveness of the mass shown as obliteration of the normalfat planes surrounding great vessels, irregular thickenings or nodular shadows of the pleura, diagphragm andpericardium and irregular and ragged tumor-lung interfaces if the tumor invaded to these structures. 4) Frequentextention of tumor to middle and post. mediastinum along pericardium or mediastinal pleura with resultantextrinsic indentation and/or invasion of the hilar region. 5) Extensive tumor infiltration to middle and post.mediastinum in 1 case, indistinguishable from lymphoma. 6) Low attenuation numbered area of brain in another 1case, but not confirmed histologically.

We described a giant chroioangioma of the placenta that caused premature rupture of membranes at 31 weeks of gestation in a 31-year-old primiparous woman and a subsequent neonatal death of the baby. The placental mass, weighing 820 gm and measuring 21.5x15x4.5 cm, was easily shelled out from a edematous 1280 gm-placenta. The mass had a thin fibrous capsule and a solid fibromatous appearance. The infant, weighed 2175 gm, appeared edematous oon the whole body and had Apgar scores of 4 and 5 at 1 and 5 minutes respectively. The baby expired 4 days after birth due to high output cardiac failure and respiratory failure. Postmortem examination revealed markedly dilatated umbilical vein, inferior vena cava and right atrium with patent froamen ovale, congestive hepatosplenomegaly, pulmonary hemorrhages, and meconium aspiration pneumonia. Microscopically, the mass revealed a variety of histologic patterns, reflecting entire spectrums of villous vasculogenesis from loose myxomatous connective tissue and undifferentiated hemangioblastic cell nests to well-developed capillaries with hematopoietic cells in the lumen.

Korean Journal of Urology 1987;28(5):697-701
Malignant fibrous histiocytoma, which is interesting because of its pleomorphic nature, is a rare soft tissue sarcoma possibly arising from histiocyte. The tumors are usually situated in the skin or subcutaneous tissues, especially of the extremities, but they may also involve deeper structures, such as the retroperitoneum or genital organs. Herin we report a case of malignant fibrous histiocytoma in the retroperitoneal space and discuss the pathologic and clinical features.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1998;36(1):47-51
BACKGROUND: Despite concern about prevention of dermatophytosis, little is known about the survival period of dermatophytes. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of the study was to investigate the survival period of dermatophytes according to various environmental conditions. METHODS: Scales for testing were collected from skin lesions of 25 patients with dermatophytosis. They were categorised into different treatment groups: kept scales themselves(S), scales in a humid condition(S+H), scales mixed with sterilized dusts(S+D), and scales mixed with sterilized dusts in a humid condition(S+D+H). They were then cultured on Sabouraud dextrose agar once a week until there was no colony growth. Data was evaluated with the Mann-Whitney U-test. RESULTS: 1) The mean survival period of Microsporum canis isolated from 5 patients with tinea(T.) capitis was 17.6(S+D+H), 16.6(S+D), 8.4(S+H) and 7 weeks(S). 2) The mean survival period of Trichophyton rubrum isolated from 20 patients of T. corporis, T. cruris, T. pedis & T. unguium was 11.8, 7.4, 9.4 and 12.2 weeks(S+D+H); 7.4, 6.8, 9.2 and 7.4 weeks(S+D); 6.6, 3.4, 8.0 and 10.4 weeks(S+H); 5.0, 2.8, 5.4, 8.2 weeks(S), respectively. CONCLUSION: We found that the survival period of dermatophytes was longest in scales mixed with sterilized dusts in a humid condition.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1986;24(1):107-111
A lg year-old female patient with pityriasis lichenoides et varioliforrnis acuta (PLEVA) was been treated with PUVA, At first, she was treated with tetracycline for 8 weeks with improvement somewhat. But 2 months later, her skin lesions aggravated slowly. So, we tried to treated her with PUVA and then she was cleared completely. The initial dose of UVA was 5 J/cm The UVA dosage increased by 10g of the previous exposure and increased to the maximum dose, 15 J/cm The patient exposed to UVA R times per week. 12 times after the PUVA therapy, the skin lesions begin to improve and completely improved at 21 times of Pl.JVA therapy. She was followed up every week and there was no side effect except hyperpigrnentation till 24 months. The total dose during treatment is 210 J/cm.
