1.A Survey on the Physical Integrated Value of Primary School Students on Busan Area.
Korean Journal of Preventive Medicine 1978;11(1):31-40
For the purpose of estimating the status of physical growth of primary school students in Busan area, the author had performed and investigation and analysis on the physical integrated value for past 6 years of random sampled 656 students (male 374, female 282). The summarized results were as follows : 1. The most rapid growth age of body-height was 7-8 years old ad 5.9cm in male and 10-11 years old in female as 6.5cm, and the growth curve of body-height was crossed at 10-11 years old. 2. The most rapid growth age of body-weight was 9-10 years old as 3.1kg in male and 10-11 years old in female as 3.9kg, and the growth curve of body-weight was crossed at 10-11 years old. 3. The most rapid growth age of chest-girth was 8-9 years old as 3.1cm in male and 9-10 years old in female as 2.9cm, and the growth curve of chest-girth was not crossed. 4. The most rapid growth age of sitting-height was 6-7 years old in both sex as 3.3cm and 3.4cm, and the growth curve of sitting-height was crossed at 8-9 years old. 5. Using the physical integrated value was much simple and desirable at comparing with the areas. And the physical integrated value of primary school students on Busan area compared to Korean standard physical status was relatively good as body-height +0.33, +0.30, body-weight +0.33, +0.35, chest-girth +0.65, +0.57 and sitting-height +0.10, +0.20 with each sex.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1998;36(3):464-468
Giant congenital melanocytic nevi may lead to severe cosmetic and psychosocial problems. Another important problem is the relatively high potential to undergo malignant transformation. The management of congenital melanocytic nevi remains controversial as there is no universal agreement. We report two cases of giant congenital melanocytic nevi which were removed by curettage and dermatomes. There is relatively less intra and postoperative morbidity using these methods than with other treatment modalities. They were also considered as acceptable surgical methods and there are potentially more pleasing cosmetic results.

3.Effects of Pravastatin(Mevalotin(R)) on Hyperlipidemia.
Korean Circulation Journal 1990;20(4):784-792
Effects of Pravastatin(Mevalotin(R)), a new HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor on the blood lipids were studied for the period of 3 months in 40 subjects with hypercholesterolemia more than 250mg/dl. Age of the subject was 50 years in average with range of 34 to 72 years. There were 22 cases of male and 18 cases of female. The cause of hyperlipidemia was not specified, but there were no case of liver, thyroid and renal disease. The 10mg of Preavastatin was given in devided doses in the morning and at bed time for 3 months. Serum LDL-cholesterol, total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride and atherogenic index were measured before and after the medication in every month and following results were obtained. 1) Serum cholesterol decreased maximally at 2months after the medication with average decrease of LDL-cholesterol 79.8mg/dl(43%), serum total cholesterol 99.8mg/dl(34%) and the atherogenic index 3.0(45%). The decrease of total serum cholesterol was dependent on the pretreatment level. 2) The serum triglyceride decreased in average 81mg/dl(26%) in one month after the medication however the change was not statistically significant because of wide variation. 3) The HDL-cholesterol decreased in average 1.6mg/dl(4%) in one month and statistically significant. 4) The serum total cholesterol started to change in 3 days and tended to decrease with unstable variation up to the end of 2 weeks after the medication. In one month after cutting drug, there were slight increase of cholesterol but did not return to control value. 5) The significant effect of blood lipid lowering drug in non-specific hyperlipidemia should be evaluated when the changes are more than intra-individual variation of blood lipids. 6) There were only 2 cases of side effect with epigastric pain and fullness which subsided soon and there was no change in liver functions, serum creatinine and fasting blood sugar after the medication. In conclusion, the pravastatin is an excellent new lipid lowering drug with safety.

4.The Effects of Bleopuncture Technique in the Treatment of Warts.
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1994;32(3):446-450
BACKGROUND: The warts may promptly return despite being treated with a myriad of destructive methods. The most successful treatment has been the intralesional injection of bleomycin sulfate, but unplessant side effects caused by the difficulty of infiltrating only the wart tissue have limited its use. OBJECTIVE: Our purpose was to determine the effects of bleopunciure technique in the treatment of warts. METHODS: We performed a multiple puncture technique using a 25 gauge hypodermic needle to introduce bleomycin hydrochloricle into warts. RESULTS: This technique resulted in elimination of 91.4% of a random series on 105 warts after a single treatment. Recurrence and side effects were not observed during a 1 year follow-up period. CONCLUSION: We experienced a superior technique for introducing Heomycin into the wart, which has resulted in the cure of a signficant number of warts following a sing treatment.

5.Percutaneous Drainage of Pancreatic Pseudocysts: Analysis of 16 Cases.
Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1994;30(5):817-822
PURPOSE: We reviewed 13 cases of pancreatic pseudocysts treated by percutaneous catheter drainage to determine the value and effectiveness of the procedure. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Sixteen pancreatic pseudocysts(nine infected, seven noninfected) were drained in 13 patients. Access routes were determined by images on CT scan and procedures were performed under fiuoroscopic guidance. Ultrasonogram was used as a guide for drainage when there were bowel loops near the access routes. Various access routes were used for catheter drainage:transperitoneal (10), retroperitoneal (3), transsplenic (2) transhepatic (1). RESULTS: Percutaneous catheter drainage cured 15 of 16 pancreatic pseudocysts(93.8%). No recurrance was encountered in the clinical follow-up of 7 to 69 months(mean 35 months). The mean duration of drainage was 29 days(infected, 24 days; noninfected, 39 days). Five pseudocysts(31%) were communicated with pancreatic duct The mean duration of drainage in these cases was 38 days. Spontaneous of the pancreatic pseudocysts to the gastrointestinal tract was occurred in 3 pseudocysts. Mean duration of drainage in pseudocysts with fistulas was 19 days. CONCLUSION: Percutaneous cather drainage is a safe and effective front-line treatment method in most pancreatic pseudocysts if drainage is done with a adequate follow-up and catheter care.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1998;36(2):286-290
BACKGROUND: Punch grafts and punch elevation can be useful for the correction of deep pitting or round atrophic acne scars. The traditional punch elevation technique gives inadequete results. Even round scars leave a retraction space and do not always heal well. OBJECTIVES & METHODS: To improve the cosmetic results of traditional punch elevation and thus promote the use of punch elevation instead of punch grafting, we performed punch elevation with purse-string sutures on 10 patients with acne, pox & atrophic scars. We performed dermabrasion or CO2 laserbrasion after 8 weks. RESULTS: Nicely fit margins of the punch elevation site with purse-string suture left no retraction spaces and enhanced the aesthetic results. CONCLUSION: Punch elevation is a simple, satisfactory method of improving cosmetic results in scars. The Purse-string suture technique can make it a more valuable tool for surgery of facial scars, because it overcomes of disadvantages the punch elevation.

The Korean Journal of Parasitology 1969;7(1):1-5
In this study the authors observed the status of water contamination by crayfish, Cambaroides similis, either alive or dead infected with Paragonimus westermani. The crayfish used as materials were infected heavily with metacercariae of Paragonimus westermani. The live crayfish were kept in water for a long time, and then the sediments of the water were examined to find out whether or not the liberation of the metacercariae from the body of the crayfish had caused contamination of the water with metacercariae. Killed crayfish were also preserved in water for some time. Physical stimuli in terms of mederate degree of shaking were added to the preserved water once a day and half amount of the water was replaced with tapped water of same temperature everyday. Status of the decay of the crayfish, liberation of the metacercariae from the body of the crayfish or contamination of the preserved water by the metacercariae, and numbers of metacercariae harboured in the body of the crayfish were examined everyday. The fate of the metacercariae liberated from the crayfish into water was also observed. The results of this study can be outlined as follows: No metacercaria was detected in the water which contained live crayfish infected with Paragonimus westermani. The preserved water with dead or killed crayfish was found to be contaminated by the metacercariae of Paragonimus westemani, which had been caused by the decay and dispersion of the flesh of the crayfish The liberated metacercariae survived for 10 days in the water at 21-27 C. The liberated metacercariae were found to be sinking into water of s.g. 1.000 with average velocity of 35.8 cm per minute.
