Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1992;28(1):120-123
Pseudoaneurysm is uncommon but a life threatening complication of chronic pancreatitis. Angiography has been the standard definitive imaging modality in the diagnosis of pseudoaneurysm. However, over the past 5 years duplux US and Dynamic CT have been proven to be valuable. The authors report a case of gastroduodenal pseudoaneurysm in chronic pancreatitis, which could be diagnosed by duplux US and Dynamic CT. Furthermore this case proved to be a pseudocyst which converted into a pseudoaneurysm by vessel rupture.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1999;40(2):587-595
Recently, antimetabolotes such as 5-fluorouracil and mitomycin have been used successfully to reduce postoperative adhesions in animal models after strabismus surgery.Nine rabbits, 18 eyes, 36 areas were divided into 4 groups. The first group was a control one. The second group was treated with 5-fluorouracil intraoperatively. The third group was treated in the same manner as the second group, followed by subconjunctival injections of 5-fluorouracil from postoperative 7th day. The fourth group was treated with mitomycin C intraoperatively. The thied group(booster group) and the fourth group(mitomycin group) were superior to the others in preventing the postoperative adhesions. There was no statistically significant diference in scar length and adhesion grade between booster group and mitomycin group. This study reveals that the subconjunctival injections of 5-fluorouracil after intraoperative contact may reduce postoperative adhesions in secondary strabismus surgery and may prevent the possible serious complications of mitomycin C, giving the similar effect to potent mitomycin C.

Korean Journal of Child Health Nursing 2003;9(3):285-293
PURPOSE: This study was conducted to identify behavioral items for Korean infants under 24months by naturalistic observation. These items will be the basis for developmental scale for Korean infants. METHOD: Data were collected by observing and interviewing fifty one infants and their mothers during the period from November 15 to December 14, 2003. Raw data in descriptive form were obtained by unstructured naturalistic observation, and were reformed to behavioral items through discussion with professors in pediatric nursing and experienced nurses in child care department. Also, behavioral items were classified into five developmental areas. RESULT: Total number of behavioral items was two hundreds and thirty eight. 52 items for motor development, 66 items for personal-social, 40 items for hearing and speech, 41 items for eye-hand coordination, and 39 items for performance. CONCLUSION: This is meaningful that fundamental items for Korean developmental scale for infants were identified by observing behaviors of Korean infants. On the basis of these items, average age will be calculated for passing each item by testing Korean infants. We hope to develop Korean infant developmental scale as a final outcome in the future research.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1992;28(6):935-941
Closed loop onstruction represent a surgical emergency, because this lesion leads to small boweel infarction, perforation, and peritonitis if not treated in time. We analyzed the CT and ultrasonographic findings of 4 patients prospectively and 2 patients retrospectively with surgically proven closed loop obstruction of the small boweel to evaluate the characteristic findings, the cause of the closed loop obstruction and predictive criteria for the viablity of the involved bowel loop. The characteristic CT and sonographic features of the closed loop obstruction of the small bowel included; dilated fluid-filled bowel loops, the thickened bowel wall, absence of peristalsis, and ascites. In one case, closed loop obstructio originating from umbilical hernia was documented by CT and sonography. The possible criteria for the gangrenous changes could be the maximal thickness of bowel more than 7mm, and infiltration in the mesentery/omentum.

7.Schirmer Test and BUT(Tear Film Breakup time) with Nonspecific Conjunctival Irritations.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1989;30(6):875-878
Schirmer test and tear film break up time(BUT) were performed in 126 patients who complained of nonspecific conjunctival symptomps. The mean value of Schirmer test was 7.85mm/5min and the mean value of the BUT was 9.68sec. Marked decrease was shown in comparison with previously studied normal values of Korean and according to these results, dry eye was suspicious. Same as for normal eyes, there was no relationship between the Schirmer test and BUT in this study. So, Schirmer test and BUT with detailed slit lamp exam should be necessary for those who complain of tearing, foreign body sensation and visual disturbances and these may helpful for diagnosis and treatment of dry eye patients.

Korean Journal of Anesthesiology 1970;3(1):107-112
In order to prevent cross-infection, the sterilization of used and/or contaminated anesthetic- apparatus is still a difficult problem in clinical practice, particularly, following anesthesia for known advanced pulmonary tuberculosis cases. Therefore the antibacterisl activities of, an amphoteric detergent, Dodecyl diaminoethyl glycin hydrochloride (Hygien 51) were tested in vitro as a disinfectant against mycobacteria (M. tuberculosis H37 Rv, M. bovis, M. avium, M. tuberculosis H37 Ra, M. phlei, B.C.G.) The antimycobacterial activity tests were performed according to the modified Kolmer method. The testing organisms were cultured in Dubos broth at 37 degrees C, and the detergent, Hygien 51, was: diluted with sterile distilled water to 1,3,5 and 10%. One half milliliter of culture was pipetted into each tube containing 4.5 ml of diluted detergent, and at intervals of 3, 15, 30, 60, 120, 180 and 240 minutes, a 4mm loopful of the material was removed from each tube, and transferred to Ogawa media. The tests were carried out at two different temperatures, 20 degrees C and 50 degrees C. The subcultures were incubated at 37 degrees C for more than 8 weeks. The results were obtained as follows: 1) At room temperature (20 degrees C), all mycobateria, except M. bovis, were destroyed by treatment- with 10% solution of the detergent for more than 60 minutes. M. bovis was relatively sensitive to the detergent, and was killed by 5% solution for 30 min. and 10% for 15 min., but M. avium. was very resistant, and was not killed by 10% solution for 240 min. 2) By treatment with the detergent at 50 degrees C, the antimycobacterial activities of the detergent were highly increased. All mycobacteria were destroyed by 1% solution for 180 min, and by 10% for less than 30 min at 50 degrees C. In the comparison of the antibacterial activities against mycobacteria and other bacteria, it shows that mycobacteria are generally more resistant to the detergent, Hygien 51.
