1.Radioligands for Imaging Dopamine and Serotonin Receptors and Transporters.
Korean Journal of Nuclear Medicine 2000;34(3):159-168
In the 1980s, techniques to image the human subjects in a rhree-dimensiona1 direction were developed, Two major techniques are SPECT (Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography) and PET (Positron Emission Tomography) which allow the detector to detect a single photon or annihilation photons emitted from the subjects injected with radiopharmaceuticals. Since the latter two techniques can measure the density of receptors, enzymes and transporters in living human, it may be very important project to develop selective methods of labeling with radionuclides and to develop new radiopharmaceuticals. There has been a considerable interest in developing new compounds which specifically bind to dopamine and serotonin receptor and transporters, and it will be thus very useful to label those compounds with radionuclides in order to gain a better understanding in biochemical and pharmacological interactions in living human. This review rnentions the characteristics of radioligands for the imaging of dopamine and serotonin receptors and transporters. Although significant progress has been achieved in the development of new PET and SPECT ligands for in vivo imaging of those receptors and transporters, there are continuous needs of new diagnostic radioligands,

4.A Case of Proliferation Trichilemmal Cyst.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1982;20(3):419-423
Proliferating trichilemmal cyst is a fascinating follicular neoplasm. Prior to its recognition, the tumor was misinterpreted as squamous cell carcinoma both clinically and histologically. The incidence of the lesion is rare and we can not find this case in the Korean literature. Authors have found a large, lobulated, hemorrhagic progressively growing tumor on the scalp of a 66 year-old woman. By its appearance it was hard to think the lesion was a benign tumor. Histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of proliferating trichilemmal cyst. Local excision and skin graft brought about complete healing of the lesion.

5.Clinicopathological Comparison of Papulonecrotic Tuberculid and Pityriasis Lichenoides et Varioliformis Acuta.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1982;20(5):667-675
Papulonecrotic tuberculid (PNT) and Pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta (PLEVA) have been in controversy in their pathogeneses and entity itselves. Authors reviewed litera, tures of the two dermatoses with observation of nine casea of PNT from 1979 to 1981 and evaluated whether PNT could be also classified as PLEVA. The results were a,s follows: 1. By the review of literatures PNT and PLEVA showed great similarities in their clinical aspects including shape of cutaneous lesions, course, favorite age and subjecive symptoms. Histopathological overlappings were also found. 2. Of the nine cases of PNT authors observed, seven cases were histopathologically PLEVA and four cases could be thought PLEVA also clinically. But way six cases were treated by anti-tuberculous drugs. 3. The incidence of other tuberculous signs and results of tuberculin skin tests were all significant in the nine cases above. With the above observations it seems that PNT is one of the causes of PLEVA and thus could be a kind of PLEVA.

7.Alteration of Serum Insulin-like Growth Factor(IGF)-I and IGF-Binding Protein-2 in Healthy Population with Aging.

Journal of Korean Society of Pediatric Endocrinology 1998;3(1):7-12
PURPOSE:Insulin-like growth factors, IGF- I and IGF-II, are proteins that promote cellular growth and differentiation of the various organs including the kidney. These peptides circulate in serum bound to specific carrier proteins, called IGF binding proteins(IGFBPs). The IGFs are produced in most organs but liver is believed to be the principal source of circulating IGF-I. We studied the correlation of serum IGF-I and IGFBP-2 pattern with aging. METHODS:Sera were collected from 320 healthy population who were grouped according to age. IGF-I was seperated from IGFBPs by Sephadex G-50 acid chromatography. We measured serum IGF-I and IGFBP-2 by using radioimmuno-assay (RIA) and immunoradiometric assay (IRMA) respectively. RESULTS:Serum IGF-I levels were quite low in early childhood, rising slowly and reaching a peak during puberty and a significant decline(P<00.01) during adulthood. The age-dependent pattern of serum IGFBP-2 levels shows a pattern opposite to that of IGF-I which are high at birth, decline by late puberty and increase again with aging. CONCLUSION: Our results demonstrate the alteration of serum IGF-I and IGFBP- 2 pattern with aging. These data suggests that when these tests are performed in the clinic, their interpretation should be based upon age specific criteria.
