Dendritic cells (DC) play an important roles in the maintenance of central immune tolerance and peripheral immune tolerance. DC can be involved in formation of autoimmune tolerance by many mechanisms and demonstrate strong plasticity, so that DC become hot issue in the research of transplantation tolerance recently. In this article the DC typing and its role, the indirect pathway of DC-inducing immune tolerance, the F1t3L and apoptotic cell role, the modified DC by genetic engineering and the immune inhibitors were summarized.

3.Progress in regulatory T cells research.
Journal of Zhejiang University. Medical sciences 2006;35(5):568-572
Regulatory T cells (Treg) are functionally mature T cell subpopulations which are key players of maintaining the balance of immunological defense system. Treg can proliferate in vivo or in vitro by antigen specific way or non-antigen specific way, and actively control the properties of other immune cells by suppressing their functional activity and their proliferation as well.

National Journal of Andrology 2013;19(5):456-459
The testis is an immune privileged organ where germ cells are protected from autoimmune attack to ensure its reproductive function. Immune tolerance is important for the normal development and function of the testis. Notwithstanding its immune-privileged status, the imbalance between the tolerogenic and the efferent limb of the testicular immune response may lead to autoimmune damage in inflammatory or infected circumstances. Testicular immune regulation is a complex system involving multiple factors and the study of the regulation mechanisms of the testis is of great significance for access to new therapeutic targets. Currently, testicular immunoregulation is thought to be related with blood-testis barrier, Sertoli cells, immune cells, cytokines and androgen.

Chinese Medical Journal 2014;127(17):3171-3180
OBJECTIVEThis review aimed at understanding pregnancy-induced changes in the maternal immune response and mechanisms for the establishment of feto-maternal tolerance.
DATA SOURCESArticles cited in this review were obtained from PubMed in English from 2000 to 2014, and the search string included keywords such as feto-maternal tolerance, dendritic cells, macrophage, T regulatory cells, natural killer cells, cytokines and hormone.
STUDY SELECTIONArticles regarding altered maternal immune response, including the proliferation and differentiation of the altered cells, and the production of cytokines and regulation of hormones in the feto-maternal interface were retrieved, reviewed and analyzed.
RESULTSThe changes in immune cells and cytokines in the local uterine microenvironment and peripheral blood are correlated with the establishment of feto-maternal tolerance. The endocrine system regulates the maternal immune system, promoting modifications during pregnancy. In these regulatory networks, every factor is indispensible for others.
CONCLUSIONSThe integration and balance of these immune factors during pregnancy give rise to an environment that enables the fetus to escape rejection by the maternal immune system. This progress is complicated, and needs more comprehensive exploration and explanation.

Chinese Journal of Burns 2008;24(5):349-351
Skin grafting has been one of the most important approaches for covering burn wounds, however long-term survival of allogeneic or xenogeneic skin graft is currently not successful. How to induce immune tolerance for life-time survival of allogeneic or xenogeneic skin graft is still remote objective to be solved. However, clinicians and scientists in China have worked very hard and made great contribution to this field during the past 50 years, no matter how difficult it is. They are the respected pioneers in the understanding of immunological change in "Chinese Method" skin grafting, its local immune tolerance, immunology of pre-treatment of skin graft, etc. Herein, the most outstanding and impressive progresses in immunological responses after skin grafting in the past 50 years in China have been reviewed and presented for memory, for future and for extending a salute.
