Korean Journal of Rehabilitation Nursing 2017;20(2):151-163
PURPOSE: This study was to analyze health behavior adherence and identify affecting factors on the duration of the hypertension diagnosis. METHODS: A total of 154 patients of hypertension participated in this study. Data were collected from October to December, 2013 and analyzed using frequency, t-test, ANOVA, multiple linear regression. RESULTS: The scores of health behavior adherence and hypertension knowledge in incidental hypertension patients were 82.23±9.69, 17.86±4.33, respectively. In the treated hypertension patients, the scores of health behavior adherence were 89.30±10.17 and hypertension knowledge were 18.54±3.89. The selected independent variables explained 34% of the health behaviors in the incidental hypertension patients and 36% of the health behaviors in the treated hypertension patients. The regression models were statistically significant (F=4.37, p < .001, F=4.45, p < .001). Among selected potential influencing factors, age (β=.423, p < .001), smoking habit (β=−.227, p=.038), obesity (β=.369, p=.030), hypertension knowledge (β=.281, p=.007), coping strategies (β=.261, p=.015). affect health behavior adherence in the incidental hypertension. In the treated hypertension patients were age (β=.362, p=.007), sex (β=−.396, p=.004), smoking habit (β=−.245, p=.022), perceived health status (β=−.238, p=.035) affect health behavior adherence. CONCLUSION: There was difference about health behavior adherence between newly diagnosed and treated hypertension patients. So different approaches for incidental and treated hypertensive patient need to improve health behavior through tailored nursing intervention.

3.The Effects of Interleukin-17 on Production of Matrix Metalloproteinase-3 in Cultured Rheumatoid Arthritis Synoviocytes.
The Journal of the Korean Rheumatism Association 2004;11(1):1-6
OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of interleukin-17 (IL-17) on the production of matrix metalloproteinase-3 (MMP-3) and the expression of MMP-3 mRNA in rheumatoid arthritis synoviocytes. METHODS: Fibroblast-like synovial cells (FLS) were prepared from the synovial tissues of rheumatoid arthritis patients and cultured in the presence of various concentration of IL-17. The production of MMP-3 and expression of MMP-3 mRNA were determined by sandwitch ELISA and real-time quantitative RT-PCR. RESULTS: In ELISA, stimulation of FLS by IL-17 with 5, 10, 20, 40 ng/mL concentrations increased the production of MMP-3 by 2.7, 2.9, 3.1, 3.6 fold after 24 hours and 9.9, 10, 11, 12 fold after 48 hours over the constitutive levels of unstimulated FLS. In real-time quantitative RT-PCR, stimulation of FLS by IL-17 with 5, 10, 20, 40 ng/mL concentrations increased the MMP-3/beta-actin mRNA ratio by 3.2, 5.7, 9.9, 30.5 fold after 24 hours over the constitutive levels of unstimulated FLS. CONCLUSIONS: IL-17 may be involved in the joint destruction in rheumatoid arthritis by enhancing the production of MMP-3 from rheumatoid arthritis synoviocytes.

Journal of the Korean Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons 2004;30(5):422-427
Treacher Collins syndrome is inherited as an autosomal dominant trait with variable penetrance. It shows a marked variability even in the same family. This syndrome is developmental defect affecting the branchial arches. It is not usually associated with acute respiratory distress, but has symptoms of microtia, hypoplastic zygomatic bones, hypoplastic mandibular rami, and bilateral coloboma. It usually requires an emergency operation immediately after the birth. We experienced an infant with Treacher Collins syndrome who showed retrognathia, glossoptosis, microtia, and cleft palate. Intermittent cyanosis, depression of the chest, respiratory difficulty associated with airway obstruction, and swallowing difficulty were also observed. To relieve severe upper airway obstruction caused by retrognathia and glossoptosis, we simultaneously performed tongue-lip adhesion and subperiosteal release of the floor of the mouth. The respiratory and swallowing difficulties were relieved and the tongue repositioned anteriorly. We report the present case with a review of the literature.

Journal of the Korean Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons 2003;29(5):323-329
The present study was carried out to evaluate the postoperative results of Millard rotation-advancement repair (MR) and lip adhesion followed by Millard rotation-advancement repair (LAMR) in unilateral complete cleft lip. Twenty patients with unilateral complete cleft lip underwent MR or LAMR at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Chonnam University Hospital over a period of 6 years (January 1994 to December 1999) were analyzed. The surgical results following the operation were assessed on the basis of scoring, vertical lip length, and scar hypertrophy. The mean score was better in LAMR group (74.74+/-1.09, n=13) than in MR group (66.50+/-1.14, n=7) for both lip and nose segments. Scar hypertrophy developed in MR group with 28.6% and in LAMR group with 23.1%. No significant difference was noted in the ratio of lip length between LAMR and MR groups (0.84+/-0.08 and 0.73+/-0.10). These results suggest that LAMR is better than MR in repairing the unilateral complete cleft lip.

The Korean Journal of Nutrition 2003;36(5):508-514
The purpose of this study was to analyze information about food and nutrition presented through the television broadcast media, with the aim of finding out the optimal communication method for supplying the general public with accurate information. To perform this study, a total of sixteen monitoring people were recruited and trained before and during the study. Five domestic TV channels were selected to be monitored, and the total monitoring period was six months. For maximum efficiency, the monitoring people were assigned to 8 teams. The results of the present study can be summarized as follows : First, the total reported cases of information about food and nutrition were 237, of which about 30% were judged appropriate and 70% as inappropriate. Second, classifying each case by program type, information programs made up the highest portion at 82 cases (34.6%), cooking programs accounted for 76 cases (32.1%), news programs for 40 cases (16.9%), and entertainment programs for 7 cases (3.0%). The analysis showed that the greatest amount of incorrect information was found in dramas, followed by entertainment, information, cooking and news programs. Third, classifying each case by theme of contents monitored, meal preparation and cookery made up the highest portion at 86 cases (36.3%), foods accounted for 67 cases (28.3%), disease and diet-therapy for 40 cases (16.9%), eating habits for 31 cases (13.1%), and diet and fitness for 13 cases (5.5%). Incorrect information was conveyed most often on the themes of food habits, foods, disease and diet-therapy, cookery, and diet and fitness. Fourth, classifying each case by channel, Cable TV had the highest frequency at 72 cases (30.4%), MBC had 51 cases (21.5%), SBS had 43 cases (18.1%), KBS1 had 41 cases (17.3%) and KBS2 had 30 cases (12.7%). In conclusion, systematic monitoring should be continued to reduce the frequency of incorrect information being broadcast and to help ensure that accurate information is conveyed to the general public. Moreover, there should be a system of cooperation to provide information to help broadcast production teams establish a strategic program. Finally, it is essential to organize an advisory team by promoting links between the mass media and specialists in the field, and to develop an educational program on nutrition to help ensure the communication of accurate information on food and nutrition.

10.Suggested guidelines for vaccination of cattle in Korea.
Yong Il CHO ; Il Sun RYU ; Han Sang YOO
Clinical and Experimental Vaccine Research 2015;4(2):200-201
There is no published vaccination guideline to cattle even though each vaccine company suggested the program based on their products. Also, most of veterinary vaccines are multivalent. Therefore, it is very difficult to standardize the program. Now, we are suggesting the general vaccine programs based current situations in cattle industry in Korea.
