We present herein a case of sebaceous hyperplasia in a 55-year-old male, who showed multiple asymptomatic yellowish papules on the forehead and the cheeks. Histopathologic examination of a papule revealed numerous sebaceous lobules grouped around several enlarged sebaceous ducts. Three weeks of oral administration. of isotretinoin 40 mg per day brought marked improvement.

We experienced three cases of non-giant congenital nevus. They showed zosteriform or heart-shaped grouping of pigmented papules which were pierced by hairs. Histopathologic examination disclosed nevus cell infiltration in and around hair follicles and in the upper two thirds of reticular dermis. We would like to report these cases as follicle-centered spotted grouped pigmented nevi.

We analysed 8 cases of gastrointestinal cytomegalovirus(CMV) infection including one autopsy, three surgically resected and four endoscopic biopsy cases. Involved sites were colon in four, stomach in three and small intestine in one. Three of them were associated with immu-nosuppressed condition but others had no clinical evidence of immune deficiency. Multiple aphthous mucosal ulceration was a common presentation, but one revealed a mucosal ulcer with segmental narrowing and thickening of wall. Microscopically, six showed cytomegalic inclusions in endothelial cells and fibroblasts, one in mucosal epithelial cells and the remaining one in both endothelial cells and mucosal epithelial cells. Immunohistochemical staining using monoclonal antibody against CMV confirmed postive result in seven cases. Serum IgM anti-CMV antibody was elevated in one case. We conclude that gastrointestinal CMV infection is currently not a rare condition and frequently associated with non-immunosuppressed condition, and thus a thorough histologic examination is required especially in the gastrointestinal ulcerative lesion. Once cytomegalic inclusion is suspected, immunohistochemical identification of CMV seems essential for specific diagnosis.

A case of cystic lymphangioma of the mesentery with severe and persistent abdominal pain in a 22-year-old man is presented. The cyst was filled with chylous fluid. Microscopically, numerous nerve bundles were incorporated within the lymphangiomatous walls, and some protruded into the lumen. The above findings lead to a suggestion that mesenteric lymphangioma may differ from those in the other sites by its abundance of incorporation of nerve bundles into the lymphangiomatous walls, and that increase of tumor size by intracystic accumulation of chylous fluid may subsequently result in increase of intraluminal pressure to compress the nerve bundles with which abdominal pain is much enhanced.

Multiple species of muridae and arvicolidae rodents serve as the natural reserviors of hantaviruses. Hantaviruses are distributed in rodent populations world-widely even in geographical areas where hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) has not been reported. Serologic diagnosis of infection, using hantaviral antigen, indicates that hantaviruses are wider distributed in wild rodents. This study was designed to intended the hantavirus infection among wild rodents captured in Kyebang mountain, Kangwon-do in Korea. A total of 216 wild rodents in 3 species were trapped in July and September in 1995. Serological evidence for hantaviruses infection were tested against five hantavirus antigens by indirect immunofluorescent antibody technique (IFA). Among 100 Eothenomys regulus, 78 Apodemus peninsulae and 38 Apodemus agrarius (IFA). Among 100 Eothenomys regulus, 78 Apodemus peninsulae and 38 Apodemus agrarius; 12 C. regulus, 15 A. peninsulae and 6 A. agrarius were IF antibody positive against hantaviruses. This data suggest that Eothnomys regulus and Apodemus peninsulae would be a natural reservoir of hantaviruses.

Hantaviruses are distributed in rodent population world-widely even in geographical areas where hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) has not been reported. Va.ictus species of Family Muridae and Arvicolidae serve as the natural reservoirs of hantaviruses. Hantaan virus, Seoul virus, Puumala virus, Prospect Hll virus, Sin Hombre virus and New York virus are members of genus Hantavirus and isolated from lungs of A. agrarius, C glareolus, M. pennsylvanicus, P. maniculatus and P. leucopus respectively. This experiment was intended to find the distribution of hantavirus infection among wild rodents and isolate the hantavirus from lung tissue of seropositve Apodemus peninsulae, and compared the nucleotide and amino acid sequences with prototype of hantaan virus 76-118 strain. Hantaviral sequences were amplified from lung tissues of A. peninsulae by reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction. Alignment and comparison of the 324 nucleotide of G2 region of M-genomic segment diverged 4.6% and 0% at the nucleotide and amino acid levels, and complete N protein-coding region of S-genomic segment diverged 3.7% and 1.4% nucleotide and amino acid levels, respectively. This is the report to spill-over on the hantaan virus from A. peninsulae to A. peninsulae in Korea.

Carcinosarcoma is a rare malignant neoplasm consisting of both epithelial and nonepithelial components, that is, carcinoma and sarcoma in the same tumor. Since Queckenstedt reported the case of carcinosarcoma of the stomach in 1904, only 30 cases have been reported. We present a case of carcinosarcoma and adenocarcinoma of the stomach in 63-year-old man with the review of the literature.

The finite element method was utilized to find the rigidity of the device in changing the parameters, such as geometrical configuration, material property, and loading condition in an external fixation. In the experimental analysis, a universal testing machine(UTM) was used to evaluate the rigidity of EBI, Monofixator and Hoffmann under the different type of lodings, such as axial compression, bending and torsion in changing the parameters. The result was compared with those of the experimental work. The results were as follows: 1) In standard condition, the yielding loads in axial compression were 85Kg in the EBI, 55Kg in the Hoffmann, and 100Kg in the Monofixator, The rigidity figures were 2930N/cm in the EBI, 764N/cm in the Hoffmann, and 2391M/cm in the Monofixator. Z) The experimental method was adapted to figure out the effect of parametric change on the stiffness of 3 different external fixation apparatus(Monofixator,EBI, Hoffmann). A Monofixator with a parametric change of pin diameter from 6mm to 5mm indicated 40% reduction of stiffness in axial compression and 60% reduction of stiffness in torsion. Also, in the case of the change of pin group separation from 20cm to 15cm it showed 64% increase of stiffness in, AP bending. EBI with the increase of the distance between pin and aluminum bar to 8cm showed 32% decrement of stiffness in axial compression and 38% decrement of stiffness in AP bending. The stiffness of the Hoffmann device was remarkable according to the number of the pin used and the distance between the pin and the aluminum bar. 3) Concerning the difference between the experimental analysis and finite element method in a Monofixator, the results of the experimental analysis were 10% to 37% lower than those of the finite element method. The reason is thought to be caused by complete binding. The obtained data shed light on the future guide-lines and future alterations of the design factors in external fixation device. Approprate use of the obtained information is desirable for the optimal, treatment of the fractured long bone.
