We investigated on how the nature of vehicles influenced on the efficacy of mo isturizer s, cutaneous hydrat, ion, physical property and roughness. Hydration was measured with corneometer, physical property with fermometer, and mughness with image analyser. Used vehicles were as follows : hydrous gel, vater in oil(W/0) emulsion, oil in water(0/W) emulsion. I.Jsed moisturizers were as follows . glycerine, polypeptide and sodium lactat,e, hyaluronic acid-triethanolamine, sodium lactate, pvopylene glycol, The results are summarized as follows : 1. The increment of the hydration effect according to vehicles was in this order. C/ W emulsion, W/0 emulsion, hydrous gel(After 2 hours). 2. The increment of extensibility as physical property was correlated to the in crcment, of hydration effcet(r=0.924). 3. It was shown that, the roughness was decreased after treatment of all mo isturizers except propylene glycol but, there was not significant st.atistically and alsa was no meaningful difference among the vehicles. 4. Among t,he moisturizers, glycerine was superior to other moisturizers on the hydration effect and extensihility. We conclude that 0/W emulsion was suitable vehicle on cutaneous hydration effect and hydration effect is proportion to the increment of flexibility.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1973;8(4):411-416
Most of malignant melanoma of skin had occurred in transformation from benign nevi(Webster, 1944), especially most frequently from junctional nevi of them. which was characterized by flat surface, dark-brown color and hairlessness(Ackermen, 1948) Blumberg (1972) introduced five levels of hietologic invasion of malignant melanoma described by Clark et al. Morton(1970) reported various measures of treatment such as surgery combined with radiotherapy or with chemotherapy or with recent immunotherapy with good result. The authors recently experienced 24-yeas old male soldier patient with malignant melanoma on hypothenar region of right palm. The pathologic investigation including electronmicroscopical aspect was carried out and are presented. Treatment consisted of the resections of right axillary lymph nodes and the lesion in situ on the hypotherar region of right hand, pedicle skin graft to right hand from abdomen, and immediate postoperative immunotherapy with intradermal injection of 1.0 cc. of B.C.G. daily on extensor surface of both thighs in turn, which lasted for about 3 months duration to find good result.

Journal of the Korean Society of Medical Ultrasound 2011;30(1):19-21
Proliferating trichilemmal tumor is a rare benign tumor of skin appendage. It is usually solitary, more common in women after the fourth decade of life, and almost exclusively confined to the scalp and back of the neck. We report herein an unusual case of proliferating trchilemmal tumor which occurred on the knee.

Journal of the Korean Child Neurology Society 1998;5(2):383-387
We have experienced a case of 13 ring chromosome in a 40-month-old girl who demonstrated psychomotor retardation with delayed speech, growth retardation, hearing loss(left), microcephaly, trigonocephaly with flat occiput, hypertelorism, epicanthal folds, microophthalmia, broad prominamt nasal bridge, high arched palate, micrognathia, large auricles and other anomalies. Cytogenetic studies of peripheral blood lymphocytes with differential staining of chromosomes revealed 46, XX, r13. Her parents' karyotypes were normal. We reported the case with the review of the associated literatures.

Journal of the Korean Society of Neonatology 1999;6(2):193-200
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to describe the clinical characteristics of neonatal urinary tract infection (UTI) caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae and non- Klebsiella pneumoniae UTI. METHODS: We compared clinical characteristics of 84 neonatal patients with UTI caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae who were hospitalized at the Department of Pediatricsat Han Dong University, Sunlin Hospital during the period between May, 1994 and August, 1998. The cases were divided into two groups depending upon causative organisms' Klebsiella pneumoniae UTI vs non-Klebsiella pneumoniae UTI, and the clinical characteristics of these groups were compared. RESULTS: Escherichia coli was the most common bacterial pathogen causing neonatal UTI, followed by Klebsiella pneumoniae. There was no significant difference in the sex distribution of Klebsiella pneumoniae UTI, but non-Klebsiella pneumoniae UTI showed male predominence. There were no significant differences in the incidences of hematologic, urologic, radiologic findings and perinatal complications in between these 2 groups. CONCLUSION: Klebsiella pneumoniae is the second most common pathogen causing neonatal UTI. There were no specific differences in the laboratory, symptomatologic, and radiologic findings in these two groups.

Korean Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy 1991;11(1):93-96
The villous adenoma of the duodenum is a rare disease and a considerable portion of the cases are known to be associated with malignancy. Although the diagnosis can be made with duodenoscopy, some cases showed false negative rate for malignancy detection with endoscopic biopsy only. So Whipple's operation is preferred than local excision. We experienced a case of tubulovillous adenoma involving ampulla of Vater, which recurred after local excision. So we report a case of tubulovillous adenoma involving ampulla of Vater with relevant literature.

Journal of Korean Medical Science 2007;22(1):142-145
To determine if the residual corneal stromal bed of 250 micrometer is enough to prevent iatrogenic keratectasia in laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK), we studied 958 patients who underwent LASIK from April 2000 to October 2003 retrospectively. The estimated probabilities of the residual stromal bed, that was less than 250 micrometer, were calculated using the published flap thickness data of Moria C&B microkeratome. Then we calculated the ratio of the real incidence of keratectasia to the expected the percentage of the patients with less than 250 micrometer residual stromal bed in our study. Using the LASIK flap thickness data of Miranda, Kezirian and Nagy, the expected probabilities that the residual stroma would be less than 250 micrometer were 8.8%, 4.3% and 1.5% of the 1,916 eyes respectively, while keratectasia developed in both eyes (0.1%) of 1 patient in our study. The estimated ratio of the keratectatic eyes to eyes with less than 250 micrometer stromal bed were 1.2-6.9%. Compared to the number of eyes with residual stromal thickness less than 250 micrometer, the incidence of keratectasia was relatively low. The residual stromal bed thickness of more than 250 micrometer may possibly be safe, but further observations for long period are necessary.

Journal of Korean Academy of Community Health Nursing 2010;21(2):200-209
PURPOSE: This study was conducted to determine the effects of a fall prevention program on knowledge, efficacy, and prevention behavior of falls among the low-income elderly. METHODS: This study used a nonequivalent control group pre and post test quasi-experimental research design. The study was conducted from August to October, 2008 with 20 subjects in the experimental group and 22 in the control group who were registered at the public health center of S District in D City. RESULTS: Hypothesis 1 "The experimental group that participated in the fall prevention program will show a higher degree of knowledge about falls than the control group" was supported. Hypothesis 2 "The experimental group will have a higher degree of self-efficacy of falls than the control group" was not supported. Hypothesis 3 "The experimental group will report fall prevention behavior more frequently than the control group" was supported. CONCLUSION: It was verified that the fall prevention program in this study was an effective intervention to improve knowledge about falls and fall prevention behaviors among the low-income elderly. The results can be used as part of an intervention to prevent falls for the vulnerable elderly such as the low-income elderly.
