Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1994;31(4):657-666
PURPOSE: To describe soft-tissue radiographic and high-resolution CT findings of radiation-induced lung injury of rabbit over time and to correlate them with pathologic findings. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 15 rabbits were irradiated in the right lung with one fraction of 2000 cGy. After 4, 6, 12, 20, 24 weeks, 3 rabbits in each group were sacrificed and soft-tissue radiographs and high-resolution CT of their lung tissue were obtained. Radiological findings were correlated with pathologic findings. RESULTS: On soft- tissue radiogram, radiation pneumonitis shown as consolidation with air-bronchogram occurred in 3 cases after 6 weeks, and in 1 case after 12 weeks of irradiation. In addition, pneumonic consolidation with adjacent pleural contraction was seen in 2 cases after 12 weeks of irradiation. Fibrotic changes indicated by decreased volume occurred after 20 weeks and combined bronchiectatic change and bronchial wall thickening appeared after 20 weeks(N=1), and 24 weeks(N=3). HRCT findings of radiation pneumonitis were homogeneous, increased attenuation after 4 weeks(N=3), 6 and 12 weeks (each N=I), patchy consolidation after 6 and 12 weeks(each N=2), discrete consolidation after 12, 20 and 24 weeks(each N=I) and solid consolidation after 20 and 24 weeks(each N=2). Pathologically radiation pneumonitis and pulmonary congestion were seen after 4 and 6 weeks. After 6 weeks, collagen and reticulin fibers were detected along alveolar wall. Mixed radiation pneumonitis and fibrosis were detected after 12 weeks. 20 weeks after irradiation, fibrosis was well defined in interstitium and in 24 weeks, decreased number of alveoli and thickening of bronchial wall were defined. CONCLUSION: Radiation pneumonitis was provoked 4 weeks after irradiation on rabbit lung and progressed into radiation fibrosis 20 weeks after irradiation on soft-tissue radiographs and high-resolution CT. High-resolution CT is more precise in detecting early radiation pneumonitis and detailed pathologic findings.

6.The Association between Depressive Mood and Conventional and Electronic Cigarette Dual Use in Adult Male: Using Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey
Korean Journal of Health Promotion 2020;20(4):135-143
Background:
Depression is well known to be associated with nicotine dependence. Recent studies reported higher depressive score is associated with use of e-cigarettes, however, little study showed the association between depression and both cigarette dual use. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the association between depressive mood and conventional and electronic cigarette dual use among male adults.
Methods:
Data of 7,459 male adults from sixth and seventh Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2014, 2016, and 2018) were analyzed. Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), current smoking status, and electronic cigarette use status were evaluated among them. The association between depressive mood and electronic cigarette use were assessed after adjusting age, education, income, alcohol, and perceived stress level using multivariate logistic regression analysis. The risk of depressive mood for dual users were also assessed. STATA 11.0 (Stata Corp., College Station, TX, USA) were used.
Results:
The both group of e-cigarette current user or ex-user reported higher depressive scores (PHQ-9) than never-user group (never-user group 1.94±0.05, ex-user group 2.57±0.13, current user group 2.69±0.22, P<0.001). In the multivariate logistic analysis, 1 point increase of depressive mood score was associated with risk of e-cigarette current use (odds ratio [OR], 1.062; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.021-1.105) among total male adult group or conventional & electronic tobacco dual use (OR, 1.054; 95% CI, 1.012-1.098) among current smokers.
Conclusions
Depressive scores were positively associated with e-cigarette use or both conventional or e-cigarette use. It is necessary to evaluate and treat smoker’s depressive mood for tobacco control.

The Journal of Korean Academy of Prosthodontics 2004;42(1):94-109
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: Several domestic dental implants have been developed since dental treatment being implants are increasing and popularized. However, they have not been used in domestic market like imported goods. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This study was carried out to compare domestic and imported implants in aspect of fitness, dental implant fixture and abutment screw using scanning electron microscope. All experiments were performed under dry condition. RESULTS: 1. Only in aspect of relation of dental implant fixture and abutment screw, except only one group with point contact, good fitness was existed. 2. Home products must presevere in their efforts, so as excellent to fit.
