The results were as follows. 1. The sex ratio of patients with cellulitis was 1:1.4 and the average age was 49 years. 2. The lower extremity as the most frequently invloved site of cellulitis with the frequency of 58.1% (25 cases), with the head and neck being involved in 16 cases(37.2%) and trunk and upper extremity in 1 case each(2.3% ). 3. The portals of infecticin were suspected in 33 cases(76% ), where tinea pedis was detect,ed in 18 cases(41.9%), previous skin infeection 10 cases(23.3%) and trauma in 9 cases(20.9%). 4. Initial systemic symptoms were fever(76.7%), chill(65.1%) and headache(37.2%). Erythema(100%), local heating(90,7%), tenderness(88.4%), swelling(86.0%), ulcer(16.3%), bulla(14.0%), lymphangitis(9.2%) and lymphadenit,is(9.2%) were found in the skin lesions. 5. The laboratory findings revealed leukocytosis in 35.7%, elevaed ESR in 86.8% positive 6. ASO titer in 63.0% and positive CRP in 80%, Microorganism. were detected in only 1 of 15 blood cultures, in 2 of 4 bulla fluid cultures and in 7 of 9 bus cultures. There was no growth of causative microorganisms in 3 tissue cultures and 9 saline needle aspiration cultures. Penicillin was used as primary antibiotics in 19 cases, which changed to another antibiotics due to lack of improvement in 3 cases and cefazolin was used in 21 cases, which changed in 2 cases due to the same reason. 7. Average admission priod was 11 days(range from 3 to 20 days) and 30.2% of patients wit.h cellulitis experienced recurrence, but 48% on low extrernity in contrast with 6.7% on head and neck.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1988;26(3):349-355
A clinical investigation of the patients with pustulosis palmaris et plantaris (PPP) was made on 36 patients who were seen at the Department of Dermatology, Seoul National University Hospital, from January 1986 through June 1987. The results were summarized as follows : 1. In this series of 36 patients, 14 patients(38.9%) were male and 22 patients (61.1%) were female. Females are more subject to the affection than males. 2. The mean age of onset in male was 30.6 years and in female it was 38.4 years, indicating a earlier onset in male. The peak age of incidence in male was between 20 and 29 years and in female, between 40 and 49 years. 3. The sites of involvement were mostly bilateral hands and feet. 4. the season of the year did not influence the severity of the skin lesions in 68.9%. 5. Nine patients(28.1%) had psoriasis-like skin lesions and 14 patients(43.1%) had nail changes out of 32 patients with PPP. 6. No direct relationship could be found between pustular eruptions and focal infections, such as tonsilitis, otitis, dental abscess and sinusitis. 7. Remmission of the pustular eruptions could be achieved in 5 out of 10 patients treated with etretinate and in 4 out of 11 patients treated with ketoconazole for more than 4 weeks' treatment

This report describes clinical cases of a palato-gingival groove on a maxillary lateral incisor with associated localized periodontal disease and pulp necrosis. The tooth of the first case was extracted because of severe bone destruction. The palato-gingival groove of the second case was eliminated using a round bur, and the resulting defect was filled with synthetic graft and covered by an absorbable membrane. Both diagnosis and treatment of palato-gingival groove were very difficult and usually extraction of the involved tooth is the treatment of choice, but combined endodontic-periodontic treatment allowed the tooth to be saved.

Korean Journal of Physical Anthropology 1994;7(2):137-155
This review-article is aimed at shedding a light upon the nature of age-associated changes in the human skeletal system. When the anatomical, physiological and biochemical consequences of bone aging are considered together with the hardening, drying and the diminished repair capabilities of the elderly, it can be seen that fractures assume greater importance as a clinical problem in the geriatric population. Older people start out with a deficit of cortical bone, making them more fracture prone and once fractures occur, the necessary treatments (immobilization, use of casts, etc.) accelerate the rate of bone loss. In addition, aged individuals stand a higher risk for complications of the hospital and enforced bed rest that may ensue. The problems resulting from bone loss in the elderly may be partially alleviated by providing adequate health service support which should include consideration of the following points : 1. Age, sex and general health status ; 2. Habits and inclinations towards physical activities ; 3. Nutritional and endocrine background ; 4. Presence of any specific bone diseases, including osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, osteomalacia and ankylosis ; 5. Psychosocial adaptability and other behavioral elements.

5.Read-through Mutation in the Coat Protein ORF Suppresses Turnip Yellow Mosaic Virus Subgenomic RNA Accumulation.
Journal of Bacteriology and Virology 2013;43(1):54-63
We have previously observed that a sequence in coat protein (CP) ORF of Turnip yellow mosaic virus (TYMV) is required for efficient replication of the virus. The sequence was predicted to take a stem-loop structure, thus termed SL2. While examining various SL2 mutants, we observed that all the modifications resulting in extension of translation beyond the CP ORF significantly suppressed subgenomic RNA accumulation. The genomic RNA level, in contrast, was not affected. Introduction of an in-frame stop codon in the CP ORF of these constructs restored the level of subgenomic RNA. Overall, the results suggest that the read-through makes the subgenomic RNA unstable.

This study was undertaken to investigate the efficacy of 5% PABA cream using mouse ear swelling reaction(ESR). Mice were exposed to 100mJ/cm of UVB, five times a week for four weeks, on the both ventral aspect of the ear, with application of 5% PABA cream on the right ear. The results were as follows : 1. The intensity of ear swelling reaction of 5% PABA protected group was reduced greater than unproteeted group after the first 3 days of UUR. 2. The intensity of ear swelling reached at peak after 1 week of the ultraviolet radiation. Thereafter it has decreased gradually the following 4 weeks. The difference of ear swelling between the two groups was the greatest after 1 week, and the sunscreening efficacy of 5% PABA cream has remained persisted for 4 weeks. 3. The number of mice which have shown severe inflarnmatory response after ultravioiet radiation was more in unprotected group than that in 5% PABA protected group. 4. Determination of mouse ESR is considered a good method for the evaluation of longterm efficacy of sunscreen preparation.

8.A Sequence in Coat Protein Open Reading Frame Is Required for Turnip Yellow Mosaic Virus Replication.
Journal of Bacteriology and Virology 2011;41(2):109-116
Turnip yellow mosaic virus (TYMV) is a spherical plant virus that has a single 6.3 kb positive strand RNA genome. Information for TYMV replication is limited, except that the 3'-terminal sequence and 5'-untranslated region are required for genome replication. When a foreign sequence was inserted at the position upstream of the coat protein (CP) open reading frame (ORF), replication of the recombinant TYMV was comparable to wild type, as long as an RNAi suppressor was provided. In contrast, when the foreign sequence was inserted between the CP ORF and the 3'-terminal tRNA-like structure, replication of the recombinant virus was not detected. This result suggests that the CP ORF contains an essential replication element which should be appropriately spaced with respect to the 3'-end. Analysis of TYMV constructs containing a part or a full additional CP ORF indicates that the 3' quarter of the CP ORF is required for TYMV replication.

9.Characterization of a Replication Element in the Coat Protein ORF of Turnip Yellow Mosaic Virus.
Journal of Bacteriology and Virology 2012;42(1):49-55
Turnip yellow mosaic virus (TYMV) is a non-enveloped icosahedral virus that has a single 6.3 kb positive-strand RNA as a genome. Previously, it was observed that the recombinant construct TY-eGFP2, where an eGFP gene was inserted at the position downstream of the coat protein (CP) ORF of TYMV genome, barely replicated. The inhibition of replication was relieved by insertion of an additional copy of the 3' quarter of the CP ORF after the foreign sequence. In this study, we have examined if the 3' quarter of the CP ORF contains any replication elements. M-fold analysis predicted three stem-loop structures in this region. Analysis of the TY-eGFP2 constructs containing one or two of these stem-loop structures indicates that the secondary structure predicted in the region between nt-6139 and nt-6181, termed SL2, is essential for TYMV replication. The critical role of SL2 was confirmed by the observation that deletion of the 3' quarter of the CP ORF from the wild-type TYMV genome nearly abolished replication and that insertion of SL2 into the deletion mutant restored the replication. Mutations disrupting the stem of SL2 greatly reduced viral RNA replication, indicating that the secondary structure is essential for the enhancing activity.
