In children, the supracondylar fractures of the humerus are common in elbow region, and often associated with various complications and problems in treatment (ie,Volkmann's ischemic contracture, cubitus valgus or varus deformity, rotational deformity). The results of reduction can be measured by Baumann's angle, carrying angle, trochlea-capitellum angle, and displacement of distal radial styloid process on radiological study. So we have made experiments on the process which various three dimensional displacements reflected into two dimensional Baumann's angle and humerocapitellar angle. And we investigated the process of rotation, through various radiological studies by means of molded models of humerus. The results were as follows:l. In experiments, AP & lateral X-ray studies showed no change in rotation of proximal segment of fracture with fixed distal segment of fracture. 2. On the other hand, AP & lateral X-ray showed significant change, in rotation of proximal fracture segment with distal segment of fracture. 3. Supracondylar rotation angle(S.R.A.)depicted as the ratio of the length of proximal fracture width minus that of the distal fracture width in lateral view, to the length of distal fracture width in AP view minus that of the distal fracture width in lateral view. 4. According to the modified Mitchell result, S.R.A. to the result of treatment was average 7.6 degree in excellent group, 15.2 degree in good group and 29.3 degree in unsatisfactory group.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the expression of the Na(+)-K(+)-2Cl(-)-cotransporter 2 (NKCC2) in the ischemic rat retina. METHODS: Retinal ischemia was induced by pressures 90 to 120 mmHg, above systemic systolic pressure. Immunohistochemistry and western blot analysis were performed. RESULTS: NKCC2 is expressed in the normal retina and its expression is increased by ischemia caused by intraocular pressure elevation. NKCC2 immunoreactivity was observed mainly in axon bundles of ganglion cells and horizontal cell processes in the retina. NKCC2 expression continuously increased with a peak value 3 days (to 415% of normal levels) after ischemic injury, and then gradually decreased to 314% of controls until 2 weeks post injury. The mean density of NKCC2-labeled ganglion cells per mm2 changed from 1,255 +/- 109 in normal retinas to 391 +/- 49 and 185 +/- 37 at 3 days and 2 weeks after ischemia, respectively (p < 0.05), implying cell death of ganglion cells labeled with NKCC2. CONCLUSIONS: Taken together, these results suggest that NKCC2, which is expressed in retinal ganglion and horizontal cells, may contribute to cell death by ischemic injury in the retina, although the molecular mechanisms involved remain to be clarified.

PURPOSE: This study aims to identify the general characteristics, subjects, and methods of research on the health of North Korean refugees through a systematic literature review. METHODS: A total of 140 studies on health were reviewed using the analytical framework developed by the researchers. RESULTS: The quantitative research comprised 90.7% of the studies, whereas the qualitative research were 7.9% of them. Approximately 81.4% of those reviewed have publication dates spanning 2006 to 2015. Only 13.6% of the studies were conducted with the approval of an institutional review board. The subjects of studies were psycho-social health (151.8%), behavioral health (28.5%), cognitive health (15.0%), physical health (12.2%), integrated health (7.8%), and spiritual health (2.8%). Within the quantitative studies reviewed, the most commonly used study design was survey research (86.0%). The two sampling methods used most often were convenience sampling (53.5%) and snowball sampling (19.4%), and the most commonly used data-collection method were questionnaires (94.6%). As for the qualitative studies, the most commonly used study design was phenomenology. CONCLUSION: The results suggested that the reviewed studies focused on physical health more than psycho-social health, and physiological measurement more than questionnaires. Ethical considerations need to be expanded.
