2.Sinonasal Rhabdomyosarcoma Metastasis in Bilateral Multiple Extraocular Muscles:A Case Report and Brief Literature Review
Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 2021;82(1):225-230
Isolated metastasis in the extraocular muscle (EOM) is uncommon, while metastases in bilateral multiple EOMs is even rarer. Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a rare soft-tissue malignancy that usually occurs in the pediatric population and is one of the primary malignancies of isolated EOM metastasis. Here, we present a case of sinonasal RMS metastasis to multiple bilateral EOMs along with a brief review of 10 previously reported cases of RMS metastasis in EOMs.

Serum is free of cellular components. Because DNA is located in the nuclei or mitochondria of cells, serum could be assumed DNA free. Few previously published case reports to date have used serum for DNA typing. Here, we report on human genotyping via short tandem repeat (STR) analysis using serum as a sample, and discuss problems involved in the process.

4.The Role of Psychological Factors in Tinnitus.
Hanyang Medical Reviews 2016;36(2):92-98
Based on the limitation of biomedical model of tinnitus, more attention has been paid to personalities or psychological aspects. Depressive disorder, anxiety disorder, and sleep disturbance were comorbid illnesses of tinnitus and research showed that neurobiological mechanisms such as dysfunction of limbic system or HPA axis were common in tinnitus and affective disorders and that comorbid psychiatric disorders enhanced the negative outcome of tinnitus. Recently, more attention is being paid to the relation of tinnitus with personality and the role of stress. Although the causal relation of personality and tinnitus is unclear, stress in itself showed that it can be a trigger in the development of tinnitus, and stress of tinnitus can cause adverse effects. Since the effect of fear-related cognition such as catastrophic thought about tinnitus was revealed more recently, its therapeutic implication should be explored. This review will describe the product of previous research and discuss future direction about psychological factors related to tinnitus.

Journal of Korean Society of Pediatric Endocrinology 2004;9(1):59-65
PURPOSE:Ghrelin is an endogenous ligand of the growth hormone secretagogue receptor, and stomach is the major site of ghrelin secretion. The purpose of this study is to compare the serum ghrelin concentrations between patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) and normal adults. We studied also whether serum ghrelin levels in the patients with type 2 DM are correlated with body mass index (BMI), serum insulin, lipid profiles, and creatinine levels. METHODS:Forty patients with type 2 DM and forty normal adults were included in this study. We measured heights and weights of the subjects and calculated their BMIs. Blood samples were obtained to measure the ghrelin concentration and their sera were stored at -20degreeC until used. In all subjects, serum ghrelin levels were measured using the commercially available Ghrelin(human) EIA kit. RESULTS:No differences of mean values were detected between the control group and the type 2 diabetic group for age, body weight, BMI, and the levels of serum total cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL cholesterol, and creatinine. But ghrelin level of the type 2 diabetic group (71.1+/-30.5 ng/L) was significantly lower than the control group (139.7+/-36.9 ng/L). In the control group, the ghrelin level showed positive correlation with HDL cholesterol (Pearson's correlation coefficient=0.37, P<0.05). In the diabetic group, the ghrelin level showed weakly positive correlation with insulin concentration. However, there was no significant relationship between serum ghrelin and various parameters in the diabetic patients group. CONCLUSION: In this study, ghrelin concentration in type 2 diabetic patients was lower than that in the control group. In the control group, serum ghrelin concentrations were positively correlated with HDL cholesterol. In the type 2 diabetic group, there was no significant correlation between insulin and ghrelin concentrations.

Journal of Korean Academy of Fundamental Nursing 2022;29(4):517-530
Purpose:
This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of an infection control education (ICE) program based on digital story-telling for new graduate nurses.
Methods:
From June 2 to July 30, 2022, a total of 58 new graduate nurses (30 and 28 nurses in the experimental and control group, respectively) at a tertiary general hospital in D city were enrolled. The effects were evaluated using a nonequivalent control group, non-synchronized design. The effects of the program were evaluated in terms of awareness of standard precautions, performance of standard precautions, and grit.
Results:
Statistically significant differences between the two groups were found in the awareness of standard precautions (t=-2.18, p=.034) and the performance of standard precautions (t=-3.27, p=.002). Grit was also significantly higher in the experimental group (t=-4.17, p<.001).
Conclusion
The development and application of the ICE program effectively improved the awareness of standard precautions, the performance of standard precautions, and grit among new nurses.

Journal of Korean Academy of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing 2018;27(2):123-134
PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to evaluate a ‘patient empowerment program for schizophrenia (PEPS)’ to improve problem solving ability, quality of life, and mental health literacy for hospitalized patients with schizophrenia. METHODS: The study was a non-equivalent control group non-synchronized design. Study participants were recruited from a psychiatric hospital in Republic of Korea. Of 56 participants, 20 were assigned to the experimental group and 36 to the control group. Data were collected from September, 2017 to January, 2018. Data analyses included chi-squared or Fisher's exact tests, t-tests, and repeated measure ANOVA with SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. RESULTS: After participating PEPS, the experimental group showed a significant increase in quality of life and mental health literacy compared to the control group. However, there were no significant differences in problem solving ability between the two groups. CONCLUSION: Findings show that patients with schizophrenia receive benefits from PEPS in terms of quality of life and mental health literacy. However, further research is necessary to develop clinical strategies to improve their problem solving abilities.

8.Suggestion for Reducing the Platelet Content Requirements of Apheresis Platelet in Korea
Korean Journal of Blood Transfusion 2023;34(3):218-221
In the United States, it was announced that when the platelet count standard for apheresis platelets was changed from 3.0×1011 /unit to 2.5×1011 /unit, the total supply of platelet products would increase by 21∼23%. In Korea, the platelet count standard for leukocyte filtration apheresis platelet products must be at least 2.0×1011 /unit, and 75% of the total test samples must be 3.0×1011 /unit or more. The supply of apheresis platelets will become smoother if this standard is changed to at least 2.0×1011 /unit. This can reduce the frequency of platelet supply crises and help treat patients by reducing the transfusion waiting time for patients who frequently receive platelet transfusions.
