Molluscum Contagiosum*

Romberg syndrome is a rare disease and characterized by unilaeril atrophy of the skin, subcutaneous tissue and the underlying structure of half the face. The lesion does not usually cross the midline of the scalp. Roriberg syndrome is sometimes mildsnosed as linear scleroderma, although they differ widely in their clinical and histological apperance. A 13-year-old boy was present with a one year history of idefined atrophic patch on the left side of face and neck. We involved skin was not bound down to the underlying structure. The history revealed no prcvious trauma or disease, He had no abnormal neurologic finding. Computerized tomography demonstrated a diminished subcutaneouat volume and also decreased thickness of back muscle is the left side face from cheek to neck.

The potential for sebaceous nevi to evolve into secondary benign or malignant EuIror is well recognized. In general, malignant transformation does not occur until postpubertal life. We experienced a case of basal cell epithelioma arising in a nevus sebaceous on a 12-year-old boy´s parietal scalp. We recommended that surgical excision should be undertaken as early as possible to detect the malignant transformation of nevus sebaceous.

Background: It is well known that the addition of CO2 gas during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) can increase cerebral blood flow (CBF). In this study, we tried to find whether the increase of CBF by CO2 gas could be expressed on the measurement of body temperatures. Methods: This study included 22 adult patients who underwent CPB with moderate hypothermia and were assigned randomly to two groups by adding CO2 gas (CO2 group and Air group). We measured each tympanic (TM), nasopharyngeal (NP), oral, forehead, finger, rectal and CPB arterial line temperatures of CPB circuit for 20 times during cooling in every one minute for 20 minutes and during rewarming every two minutes for 40 minutes. Results: During cooling and rewarming, the TM, NP and oral temperatures changed more rapidly than the rectal and finger temperatures. In TM temperature, as time changed, the percent changes of temperature varied more prominently in the CO2 gas group than in the Air group. The statistical differences were significant especially during 13 minutes to 20 minutes in cooling and 8 minutes to 20 minutes during rewarming. Conclusion: From this data, we can postulate the effect of CO2 gas on CBF indirectly by measuring several sites of body temperatures.

To determine Whether neoatigmine had different effecta in pediatric patients and adults during vecuronium neuromuscalar blockade, the rate of recovery following neostigmine admimistration was compared in children (n=10, group I) and adulta (n=10, group II) during nitrous oxide-Halothane anesthesia. After induction of anesthesia, patients received 100 ug/kg of vecuronium. Reversal was attempted at 10% spontaneous recovery of twitdi height, Neostigmine (30 ug/kg in children, 40 ug/kg in adults) was injected in a single bolus dose. During the first few minutes following neostigmine admimistration, no differences were obaerved between the two groups, Ten minutes after neostigmine admmistration, the first twitch (mean+/-SD) reached 95+/-2%, 93+/-2% of control value in children and adults respectively. The more complete recovery of the eighth minutes in children could be due to the faster rate of spontaneous recovery from vercuronium induced neuromuscular blockade in children.
