Journal of Korean Academic Society of Nursing Education 2021;27(2):117-131
Purpose:
This study is a qualitative study that investigated the nature of Koreans’ spiritual health using a hybrid model, clarifying the definition and attributes of the concept.
Methods:
The nature and definition of Koreans’ spiritual health were identified through a review of the extensive literature at the theoretical stage and then compared with an analysis of the in-depth interview data conducted by the researcher in the fieldwork stage.
Results:
Koreans’ spiritual health comprised nine attributes: awareness of the meaning and purpose of life, self-awareness, self-acceptance and recognition, self-transcendence, self-integration, harmony of relationships, self-actualization and development, the inner affective attributes of hope, happiness, fulfillment and thankful mind, and the interpersonal affective attributes of one connected mind, compassion, generosity and humility. The scope of the Absolute is expanded to ‘heaven’ and ‘ancestors’, and harmony with the community is emphasized.
Conclusion
We have found that Koreans’ spiritual health is important for total nursing care and that mental, social and physical health can be improved if spiritual health is promoted. Considering this point, personal and organizational efforts are needed to ensure that spiritual nursing is positively applied in community and clinical settings.

3.A comparative Study for morbidity and Compilication in Total AbdominalHysterectomy ; -Open Versus Closed Vaginal Cuff.

Korean Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 1997;40(3):627-632
Post-operative morbidity and complication, focused on open versus closed vaginal cuff, were compared. The patients were divided into two groups according to the method of cuff management(open cuff : n=53, closed cuff : n=52). From Jan, 1990 to Dec. 1994 one hundred five cases of total abdominal hysterectomy on the benign uterine disease were carried out by the same operator at the Dept. of Ob/Gyn. Pusan Paik Hospital. The vaginal cuff was opened during the first half periods(1990. 1~1993.3), and it was closed during the later peroids(1993.4 ~ 1994.12). As to the postoperative morbidity and complication(closed : open), urinary tract infection(9.4% : 5.8%), vaginal cuff infection(7.5% : 3.8%), febrile morbidity(3.8% : 3.8%), wound infection(1.9% : 3.8%), pelvic hematoma(0: 1.9%) developed but there were no statistical differences between the two groups. Granulation tissue formation on the vaginal cuff was found in 26 cases(49.1%) of the open cuff and in 18 cases(34.6%) of the closed cuff(p=0.134, X(2) test ) within 6 months after operation. Post operative increased vaginal discharge developed in 7 cases(13.2%) of the open cuff and in 10 cases (19.2%) of the closed cuff group(p=0.516, Fisher's Exact test).

Korean Journal of Pathology 1994;28(2):149-153
To evaluate the expression of transforming growth factor-alpha(TGF-alpha) and proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) and its relation to the differentiation of the tumors, immunohistochemical studies were performed in 49 human gliomas. Tumors were graded by a 3-grade-system; grade I=low grade glioma, grade Il=anaplastic glioma, grade III=glioblastoma multiforme. TGF-A and PCNA were predominantly expressed in malignant gliomas compared with benign gliomas. Malignant gliomas revealed 87% TGF-A reactivity, while benign gliomas revealed 26% TGF-A reactivity. The proliferation index with PCNA was 26%+/-7%(mean+/-standard deviation) in malignant gliomas and 5%?% in benign gliomas. A strong positive correlation between tumor grade and extent of TGF-A and PCNA expression was found(P<0.0001, Chi square and P<0.002, T-test). Synchronous expression of TGF-A and PCNA was observed in 16 cases(33%). The results of this study support the suggestion that the expression of TGF-A might be a useful prognostic indicator in human gliomas.
