1.Effects of a Proper Positioning on Prevention of Musculoskeletal Complication on Patients with Stroke..
Korean Journal of Rehabilitation Nursing 1999;2(2):163-175
This study was done to identify the effectiveness of a proper positioning on musculoskeletal complication on patient with Stroke by using a quasi-experimental study. A total of 18 patients were selected as a subject from June 1st to October 31th 1998 who had been hospitalized at Intensive Care Units in K medical center. A experimental group consists of 8 patients who were given proper positioning every two hours. A control group consists of 10 patients who were given traditional positioning. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS windows including chi-test(Fisher's exact method), Wilcoxon Rank Sum test and McNemar test. The result of this study was summerized as follows: 1) The experimental group with proper positioning has shown lower shoulder pain score, dorsiflexion contracture score, Shoulder subluxation score and higher Range of Motion and than the control group. 2) The experimental group with proper positioning has shown lower muscle pain score and edema score than the control group, but it was not statistically significant. Therefore, proper positioning could be applied as an independent nursing intervention for patients on Stroke in order to facilitate rehabilitation.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1985;20(3):495-499
Five cases of tennis elbow seen during the time period from Jaunary 1983 to January 1985 had operative treatment. Of the five clinical cases, four elbows in three patients were treated with Nirschl and Pettrone operation. This operative technique included exposure of the extensor carpi radialis brevis, excision of the identified lesion, and repair. The following results were obtained. 1. Correct analysis of the patient's emotional stability was essential prior to undertaking surgical procedure for tennis elbow. 2. The results of Nirschl and Pettrone operation were graded as excellent in three elbows and fair in one.

Asian Nursing Research 2020;14(5):267-276
Purpose:
The purpose of this study was to evaluate studies on the measurement properties of self-reported instruments.
Methods:
This descriptive review included studies on measurement properties that were reported in Asian Nursing Research over a five-year period from 2016 to September 2020. Nine key measurement properties were reviewed for each study: content validity, structural validity, internal consistency, cross-cultural validity/measurement invariance, reliability, measurement error, criterion validity, hypotheses-testing construct validity, and responsiveness.
Results:
The most commonly applied measurement properties were structural validity and internal consistency. However, structural validity using confirmatory factor analysis or item response theory/Rasch analysis needs to be rigorously analyzed and interpreted. None of the studies assessed measurement error and responsiveness.
Conclusion
It is recommended for nursing researchers to assess measurement properties beyond structural validity and internal consistency using more rigorous methodologies.

6.Updated Theory of Planned Behavior in Predicting Parents’ Intentions to Vaccinate Their Sons in Elementary School against Human Papillomavirus
Journal of Korean Academy of Community Health Nursing 2021;32(2):195-204
Purpose:
This study was to determine how attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control (PBC) were related to parents' intentions to vaccinate their sons in elementary school against human papillomavirus (HPV), applying the updated theory of planned behavior. Two hypotheses were examined: PBC would moderate the relationship of attitude to intention and subjective norm to intention, respectively.
Methods:
This was a cross-sectional study with 231 participants recruited in November, 2018. Inclusion criteria for the participants were parents with 5th-6th grade boys in elementary schools. The moderation effects of the hypotheses were analyzed using the PROCESS macro for SPSS.
Results:
PBC significantly moderated the relationship of attitude to intention on HPV vaccination. The simple effect of attitude to intention was significant under three different levels of the PBC (low, moderate, and high), but the magnitudes of the relationships were not homogeneous. The magnitude of the relationship between attitude and intention was the lowest for the parents with the low level of the PBC. In the relationship of subjective norm to intention on HPV vaccination, the moderating effect of the PBC was not supported.Subjective norm and PBC directly predicted the intention on HPV vaccination.
Conclusion
In order to promote the parents' intentions to vaccinate their sons in elementary school against HPV, we need a program that can improve parents’ attitude, subjective norm, and PBC, requiring special attention to the parents with the low PBC.

Journal of the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons 1999;26(5):767-774
In the past 5 years, the authors have performed microsurgical reconstruction of the lower leg in 37 patients. Among them, modified microsurgical salvage procedures were performed in 11(29.7) cases with vascular compromise, suggested by the preoperative angiogram of the affected lower leg demonstrating no visible, or only one visible major arter. Modified salvage procedures included free flap operations using distally-based arterial inflow(n=2), temporary diversion of the single main artery with secondary vein grafting(n=2), Jungcross-leg fashioned free flaps(n=4), and end-to-side anastomosis of the main artery((n=1). In absence of arterial flow after lower leg trauma, as interpositional vein graft(n=2) was performed to restore blood flow. No vascular problems occurred after the free flap transfer. However, 9 patients experienced different degrees of limping gait, ranging from as mild(n=2), moderate(n=6) to severe(n=1) at the mean follow-up period of 18 months. In reconstruction of a vascular compromised lower leg, modified salvage procedures should be reviewed and selected after exploration of all vessels, both proximal and distal to the zone of the injury. When evaluating what method is the most appropriate, socioeconomic efficiency and patients' individual requirments should be considered.

Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing 2020;50(5):728-736
Purpose:
This study aimed to identify the relationship between workplace violence and turnover intention, and the mediation effect of resilience on the relationship in hospital nurses.
Methods:
This was a cross-sectional study. A total of 237 registered nurses were recruited from three hospitals in South Korea from April to May 2019. Participants were invited to complete self-reported questionnaires that measure workplace violence, turnover intention, resilience, and demographic information. The data obtained were analyzed using multiple regression and a simple mediation model applying the PROCESS macro with 95% bias-corrected bootstrap confidence interval (5,000 bootstrap resampling).
Results
After controlling demographic covariates, workplace violence significantly accounted for the variance of turnover intention. It was also demonstrated that resilience partially mediated the relationship between workplace violence and turnover intention in hospital nurses. A 73.8% of nurses had experienced workplace violence (such as attack on personality, attack on professional status, isolation from work, or direct attack). Conclusion: Workplace violence directly influences turnover intention of nurses and indirectly influences it through resilience. Therefore, hospital administrators need to develop and provide a workplace violence preventive program and resilience enhancement program to decrease nurses’ turnover intention, and leaving.

Journal of the Korean Society of Emergency Medicine 1999;10(3):403-412
BACKGROUND: Current guidelines of advanced trauma life support recommend open thoracotomy when pericardiocentesis reveals bloody pericardial effusion in patients with blunt chest trauma. However, open thoracotomy may not be always required for treating patients alive until arriving emergency department, because rapid accumulation of the blood into pericardial space results in immediate death at scene. We report our experiences of treating traumatic pericardial effusion, and discuss the therapeutic modality in patients with traumatic pericardial effusion. METHODS: The study consisted of 37 patients(20 males and 17 females with the mean age 42) sustaining traumatic pericardial effusion. The patients were divided according to treatment modality into 3 groups(group I : patients receiving conservative management, group II : patients treated with pericardiocentesis, group III : patients required emergency thoracotomy). We compared clinical presentations, hemodynamic profiles and echocardiographic findings among three groups. RESULTS: Cardiac tamponade was present in 14 of 37 patients. Pericardiocentesis was performed in 13 patients, and open thoracotomy in 4 patients. Pericardiocentesis was curative in 9 patients. Thoracotomy was performed in only 3(24%) of 13 patients required pericardiocentesis. 3(75%) of 4 patients having moderate or severe pericardial effusion from penetrating injury were required open thoracotomy. CONCLUSION: In selected patients who have traumatic pericardial effusion by blunt chest injury, pericardiocentesis may be curative, and thoracotomy may not be inquired as long as bleeding via indwelling pericardial catheter is not sustained after pericardiocentesis.
