Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1998;39(3):480-486
Levocabastine, a selective H1-receptor antagonist, has been evaluated in the management of allergic conjunctivitis and its efficacy was compared between the skin test positive and negative groups. A total of 20 patients who was clinically diagnosed as allergic conjunctivitis were processed for the skin test. According to the results of skin test, patients were divided into two groups; skin test positive (15) and negative (5). Livostin(levocabastine 0.5mg/ml) eye drops were topically instilled 2 times per day for 1 week. Both subjective and objective findings were assessed by a 4-point scase (0=none, 1=mild, 2=moderate, 3=severe). The parameters used for the examination of drug effectiveness were itching, tearing, chemosis, lid swelling and injection. 85.5% (17 put of 20) of the patients showed effects on the management of their symptoms and signs. No significant difference was observed in its effectiveness between skin test positive and negative groups. The results of present clinical trials suggest that Livostin eye drops may be an attractive therapeutic option for the management of allergic conjunctivitis.

Annals of Dermatology 2013;25(2):208-212
BACKGROUND: Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma (EAH) is a rare benign nodular lesion characterized by the proliferation of eccrine and vascular structures, generally capillaries, in the middle and deep dermis. It may be congenital or appear later in childhood, but rarely arises in adulthood. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinicopathologic features of EAH in Korean patients. METHODS: Ten cases of EAH diagnosed at Ajou University Hospital and Gangnam Severance Hospital in Korea from 2007 to 2010 were retrospectively reviewed. RESULTS: The age range of patients was between 5 and 66 years with an equal number of male and female patients. Apart from two congenital cases, the onset was late, ranging from 6 months to 65 years of age. All lesions were solitary and located on the distal extremities. Nine cases appeared as a yellow-brown nodule or plaque resembling a callus. Neither hyperhidrosis nor hypertrichosis was documented. Apart from the typical histological findings of EAH, prominent mucin deposition, fat component and nerve infiltration were observed. CONCLUSION: This is one of the largest single case series of EAH in the literature. Clinically, resemblance to callosities and the frequent occurrence in the adulthood were the unique features in our series.

Pigmented Spitz nevus is a benign melanocytic skin lesion with distinct clinical features and it is frequently found on the extremities. However, it rarely occurs on acral area of the body, and such a case has not yet been fully documented. We present a case of acral pigmented Spitz nevus occurring on the foot, and this mimicked acral lentiginous malignant melanoma. Clinicians should be well aware of this entity and its possible clinical presentations. Since acral pigmented Spitz nevus is benign in nature, making the correct diagnosis is important to avoid unnecessary mutilating or excessive surgery.

A 63-year-old Korean man presented with generalized, asymptomatic, discrete papules and coalescent annular plaques for one year. Interestingly, the patient complained of conjunctival congestion, concurrently with aggravation of the skin lesion. Histopathologic findings of the skin lesion and conjunctiva revealed giant cells engulfing fragmented elastic fibers, and a diagnosis of actinic granuloma with ocular involvement was made. Ten months later, the patient revisited with a two-week history of bilateral temporal headache, neck pain, intermittent jaw claudication, and blurred vision. Biopsy of the temporal artery confirmed the clinical diagnosis of temporal arteritis. Both actinic granuloma and temporal arteritis show similar pathologic process, and this case supports the hypothesis that actinically degenerated elastic tissue is likely to be the antigenic basis of actinic granuloma of the skin and temporal arteritis.

9.Warty Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Vulva in Older Women: Association with Human Papillomavirus.

Yonsei Medical Journal 2005;46(1):155-158
Warty squamous cell carcinoma (WSCC), a rare variant of squamous cell carcinoma occurring in younger women, is primarily associated with human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. Although WSCC appears to exhibit less aggressive behavior than typical well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma, it bears the risk of regional metastasis. Accordingly, WSCC should be differentiated from other verruciform neoplasms. We describe a rare case of WSCC with a short disease duration occurring in a woman of old age. We found the presence of HPV DNA different from other well-known types of high risk and low risk HPV by DNA chip microarray. These results suggest that various types of HPV can be associated with the pathogenesis of WSCC.

10.A Case of Pedunculated Malignant Melanoma.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 2005;43(7):1009-1011
Pedunculated malignant melanoma is a rare type of melanoma. It has long been considered to be the more aggressive variant of nodular melanoma. It has an earlier age of onset and commonly presents as an exophytic lesion which frequently ulcerates and does not necessarily appear pigmented, allowing it to be confused with benign conditions such as pyogenic granuloma, intradermal nevus, or a fibroepithelial polyp. We report a case of a pedunculated malignant melanoma presented with a pedunculated reddish nodule on the left upper arm of a 31 year-old man.
